  • Simple way to change the transmission fluid. In this video, learn the basic tools needed, the type of fluid to use, quantity of fluid to use, how to connect the drain hose from the transmission cooler to the drain pan or fluid collector container, how to flush the fluid one step at a time, how to loosen the fluid fill plug and the crank case drain plug, how to drain the crank case fluid and how to re-fill the transmission fluid that has been drained.
    Correction/Apology: please note run the engine no more than 45 seconds each time you drain the old fluid. In this video it's indicated 35 minutes. It should be 35 seconds.

    For anyone who didn’t notice it should be 35 seconds not minutes to run the vehicle.

    great video ..i changed the radiator on mine and was wondering where i could just put a quart in cause of the fluid i would have lost by changing trans cooler build into the rad ... this is the only vid that showed where you put the oil in ...thanks

      Hi Mark, I suppose you run your Veracruz already after replacing the radiator. If you did you can only add (top up) the transmission fluid through the transmission fill hole (port) by removing the fill plug as shown in this video. If you have not run the vehicle yet after replacing the radiator, (I have not replaced my Veracruz radiator yet but if I did and I don't have the Torx T-55 tool), I would top up or fill the transmission cooler thru the upper port connection (disconnecting transmission discharge hose) and let gravity action do its role to complete filling. I would also remove the hose on the lower port (transmission return hose) to ensure whatever air inside the cooler is pushed out while filling. When the fluid comes out of the lower port, it could mean the cooler is already full and you can re-connect the transmission return and discharge hoses in cooler ports. Thanks for leaving a comment.

    Great video. I have a couple of questions. First what manual did you use for instructions to change the transmission fluid? That fluid was really black. How many miles since the last fluid change? That was a great video. I have the same car and there is no video as detailed as yours. Thanks for posting such clear instructions. Also on your titles sometimes they say 35 or 40 minutes and later the titles say 35 or 40 seconds to run the car. I think you mean seconds because that is how long you run the car for. Anyway very clear and instructive video. Great job!

      Thanks for leaving a comment. I did not use instruction manual but did google search, found some instructions and descriptions how to change the transmission related to Hyundai Veracruz. I quoted according to the manual as mentioned in that website. I don't remember the site anymore (that was long time ago) stored it in favorites but lost it after I changed my computer. I was a bit frustrated because I don't see much video to really help me do it. Reading instruction is also quite confusing and could sometimes throw you out. So I decided to make this video so others with the same car will not suffer the same frustrations I had. Mileage 175,000 km (approx.108,000 mi). You're right I mean seconds. If you read the description completely there is this "Correction/Apology" that I mean seconds instead of minutes. I was just learning how to create the video, posted it without soon realizing the time was mixed up with minutes and seconds. I appreciate you pointing it out so that other readers will know.

    Hi. It is very informative video. I m about to go for my transmission fluid change and transfer case fluid change. Drain and filled .as i have a awd warning light illuminated on my dashboard. And stays on while driving. I went to local mechanic he suggested that you car must be low on transmission fluid its better to change. What do you suggest that could be the reason? He told me to buy from the dealer here in canada. But i checked your video you are using oem product. I can find the mobil atf 3309 here at local parts store for 13$ in compare to dealer which is selling for 32$ . What do you suggest? Can i use the mobil atf 3309 for my car or the dealer one? Waiting for your reply thank you

      @OMRey-nj3wt  Před 4 měsíci

      3309 is recommended by the manufacturer. So I will use whatever brand it is. Last year I changed again my transmission fluid and was looking for Mobil ATF (that has 3309 mark) but can't find one so I used Valvoline instead, it has ATF T-IV mark in it which is also recommended by the manufacturer. I bought the gallon size because it has better price and will do just fine. I don't use the dealer oil, it's too expensive.

      Hi my knowledge in transmission is limited and most especially on tranny oil leaks. What I know with my other cars (not the Veracruz) transmission oil leaks can be caused by a number of reasons, such as broken seals, gaskets, etc. I did replaced the transmission fluid pan gasket in my Buick Century and the leak was gone. As for Veracruz, if there really is a leak and is coming from the transmission, I will not try to do the fixing because I don't have the needed resources to repair it. You need to see where the leak is coming from. If the transmission is really leaking fluid you may have to bring it to a reliable shop for repair or have it replaced with a rebuilt unit.
      As for the leak in the back of the car, I suppose you mean the rear differential. Check which part of the differential the leak is coming from. If it is in the drain bolt or assembly cover then the gasket is worn or damaged and has to be replaced. when adding differential fluid, there is a fill hole in there. when you add the oil/fluid, you know it's full when the fluid comes out of the fill hole.

      There is a recall on the Veracruz for gasket leaks and a Hyundai dealer will fix it for free if your vehicle is affected. The leak ruined my alternator and Hyundai fixed it for free. Google and check your VIN number for recalls.

      @@hamir1965 Yeah the new recall is to install a drip cover over the alternator because they couldn't fix the leaking problem properly. What a hack solution... Oh and nevermind that the other valve cover leaks, that is OK...
