Dark Realities of Zero Brokerage Trading Apps | Finvasia Shoonya Glitch

- Much have changed in stock market since Harshad Mehta's scam. Govt and SEBI took initiative to strengthen the regulatory guidelines for brokers and stock exchanges.
There are more investors and traders in stock market. In fact there are 3.25 crore active demat accounts in Indian stock market and about 11 crore in total.
Broker's app has changed the way in which trades are executed. Once everything was manual and needed human intervention but now one can executive orders through broking app.
You just need a smartphone, internet connection and active demat account and you can start trading.
But what if a technical glitch occur in an active trade? You may suffer losses at the tune of thousands to crores as happened recently with Finvasia's Shoonya app.
On 13th April tight on options expiry day Shoonya broking app broke down. There was not respite for whole day.
Finvasia promises no commission brokerage that is why people turn to it. But Finvasia is not only one whose app faces glitches.
Kotak's neo app, Zerodha's Kite app, Uptosx app too broke down during active trading and we did some investigation on technical glitches through data available on NSE's website and found a pattern.
Broker like Finvasia, Kotak Securities, mStock who promises 0 brokerage over trading segments faced most technical glitches last year.

New trader or small capitals traders can use zero brokerage broker becz of those traders are in loss....more then 50-60% loss is due to brokerage payment only

I think just like insuarnce on deposit in bank covered by DICGC, SEBI should make autonomous regulatory body for such type of technical glitch and upto 3 lac loss should be covered in such type of cases

You can't even depend on number of comlaints received against a broker.. people will start targetting companies by ensuring fake complaints are registered to ensure bad name for the company. Basically the only solution to this problem is to have a set of guidelines where infrastructure is as per standard across all brokers and someone should be made responsible mandatorily for any tech issues if they come. It sounds be clearly set in guidelines(as in IT companies) as to who will be held responsible for which issues

Stock enchanges should have a policy for brokers to implement a feature something like an "emergency button" using which retailers and traders can buy/sell/call stocks directly from exchange when there such situations happened like broker app/site is down.

Yes bhai govt should help finvasia. I feel they are genuinely good people. I also suffered 13/04 mishap. But eventually finvasia did a good job. I will continue with them for lifetime
They took care of losses in most cases heard. But overall system needs to be more dependable
I have heard a recording where the coustomer care guy was asking to return the money from profit maker on the day where this glitch occurred to compensate the losses.

@@jprakashoram8500 I've withdrawn most of my money from finvasia. I only keep small amount required to trade 1-2 lots. Let's hope they don't shut shop in next few months due to losses from this issue.

Sincerely grateful to your genuine efforts in such untouched but crucial topics , i personally had to suffer in intraday trading while Zerodha technical glitch occurred without any resolution or money compensation, still was not aware of exact reason until this video , it’s true that stricter regulations should be adapted by SEBI and other authorised bodies as RBI has for insuring minimum amount in account, what’s the point if your losses are more than investment, especially during situations like covid and Russia Ukrainian war where people wanted to book and get out of the market to invest at lower levels and technical glitch occurred they will be forced to bare the loss or hold until break even , looking forward to a better customer centric stock market experience , thanks 😊
SEBI should implement one unique software like Meta Trader 4 for all brokers. And with increasing charges people with large capital are shifting to forex market as there is no govt charges and even zoro commission. Charges and brokerage matters for retail traders who are learning.

Sst and gst should be removed. Exchange txn chrg and sst should also be fixed , irrespective of trading amount.
Technical glitches can happen with anyone, i have seen nse halted trading...finvasia nothing compared to them...i have even seen things happened with zerodha also.

Nothing will happen. Looks like all of them working towards betterment of only themselves and Big institutional players. Best eg of this is increase in margin for option selling. It was just to make retailers only buy options thus providing liquidity for option writers ( big players).

Always use bracket order in finvasia.. u will never face any issues......
I have used zerodha and kotak securities.....I say 100% honestly for order execution and order placing I Never faced issue with Zerodha ..but in kotak Securities everyday I faced issue, and many time order was not taken due to which I missed many trades....

Very sad news for all clients of Finvasia like me.
Fortunately I didn't suffer any loss as I didn't trade on 13th May.
But, now I am bit sceptical and thinking to stay or not to stay with Finvasia !!

I appreciate your effort to raise this issue.
People who are still using commision based brokers might be laggards or rich or aged. They are unlikely to spend time to raise a complaint even if they face a problem.
Whereas the discount/ zero based apps were mostly used by early adoptors or tech savvy people and were more like to raise a complaint incase of any issue.
It is not true. I have been trading for 18 years. I have three trading accounts with different brokers. But I always find full service brokers are always better. old traders look for good trading terminals/ platforms and timely reporting. There is little technolgy involved it trading. You can discuss with the CRM if you have any doubt before making a trade. After all the brokarage comes into play when you make a loss. On the othe hand, discount brokers induce you to take high positions where people make huge losses. If anyone is new to trading and wants to do intraday, he must look for fast and reliable platforms rather than brokerage.

I had opened an account in Kotak. 100% agree they are pathetic. Not only glitches in websites and app, they don't even have the basic sense of usability.
Their application development team looks like some outsourced vendor and those guys are way too useless. I had reported so many issues but for every issue they require follow up of 2-3 months. Even government employees won't be that pathetic.
As far as their zero brokerage is concerned, it's strictly for intraday. In many cases users carry forward positions to the next day and then they have the same brokerage as others. For delivery they charge huge as a full service broker.
But anyway as wisely mentioned in this video, app and platform are the first priority now, so big no to such companies who are not interested in customer experience.

Like flight insurance or any other insurance. So that traders are safe guarded. System and back up should be strong and norms to be finalized Like ISO standards in this business.

I was thinking of opening account with mstock to save brokerage but after watching this video I got to know about the truth of the service quality of such brokers. Moreover switching to mstock can be more problematic as I am trying to control my overtrading. By going for a free broker my psychology will get affected & my overtrading problem will further increase.

Even i use Finvasia.... trading in second half after market create it's price action rule of mine saved me from that glitch....
Even after 12:30 my orders were not executing...and i missed sharp up rally that day..
But i am happy that Finvasia cared for it's clients...and negotiated and tried to refund losses as much as they can...but still they need to improve...i won't mind if they start charging 50% of current brokerage rates...but should work on technical advancements..
If they are trying to refund losses, that's a good thing... Maine tau yehi suna k kafi traders ko loss uthhana pada due to that technical glitch...
@@SaiRules009 I too use Finvasia and they explicitly said to square off any arbitrary open position before 09:30 on the next trading day and contact customer care with screenshots and the money will be refunded.
I didn't suffer losses coz I also trade after 12:30 butI know a person whose loss was refunded.
my loss has been refunded and may other like me they are refunding so and i would not stopping using it and i have never stopped after glitch too..how they handled my case and others is impressive.
@@deepakkalra3526 ok. If they are genuinely trying and refunding customers amount, that means they are customer centric in that sense. 13/4 might be one odd day, bt if rest of the times they are good, I think old costomers would prefer using finvasia...
@@SaiRules009 i am using since november 2021 it was first time i had to face this type of issue but the fact is that they are doing their best to resolve the pending cases also.
