In some cases body lifts require you to move or extend brake lines, extend gear shifter, extend steering shaft and get new bumper brackets to move bumpers up. Just a few things that were missed
Wow that was a lot of learning in seconds thnx
In the states a 6 inch rough country would b around 1700 average for most trucks (thats including labor for a shop to install it) . But most people dont understand that some trucks require a diff drop bracket , steering extender, extended brake lines, extended driveshaft, etc. Its all the extras that Jack up the price. Not to mention the alignment and bushings and all this stuff u have to do afterwards.
Very good info. You was right on point. I subbed!
What do you think about Premium 5 inch body lift kit for 2014 silverado
Yeah here is the deal I've been in 3 1/2 feet of water in Pasadena last year with that setup no problems so..
I was just wondering about the intercooler in the radiator fan and radiator how it would shift on the front end of the truck when you lift the body will you'll have to lift the motor also or cut something loose let me know what you think on that
so are you saying if I put a 3 inch lift kit for example on my trailblazer. I won't need wheel spacers?
Dude looks like Ryan Gosling.
Khaire Gilreath I was thinkin' more Nicolas Cage..
Alex Kontos That's an ugly combination
How about the performance ride of body lift?
Is a body lift bad in the long run for the truck? Is it dependable? I have a 3 inch pro comp suspension lift.. i want to get a little higher... i was looking into the 1 inch body lift. Will the body lift be noticeable?
You won’t even notice the 1” do 3”, and no it’s not hard in the truck and easy to install
well you get more ground clearance with a suspension lift a body lift leaves the frame in the same spot witch with off road can cause some sever damage to your vehicle. in my opinion suspension lifts are the way to go.
Alot of insurance companies will not cover a 6 inch lift. Now check with your insurance company.
All I need for the stuff I do is a leveling kit on mud terrain 32s gets me down to the river
MrRocque
You seem very knowledgeable, May I ask a question?
I want to lift a 2004 ford expedition but i can't seem to find any suspension lifts online. I am not going off roading and only care for the look.
The best I've found is a 3.5"front 2.5" rear body lift for the truck. I understand this uses spacers and only lifts the body, not the frame.
If i install this, can I also install after market torsion keys to get another 1"-3" of lift? is this correct?
Also I understand the bumper is going to sit lower because of the body lift, but will it sit lower also because of the torsion keys cranked up?
Is a leveling kit the same as the body lift spacers??? or can i also install this on top of keys, body lift?
The stock tires are 265/70/r17 which are 31.5", if i install 35 inch tires will I also gain 1.75" inch of lift here?
Is there something incorrect? Everything calculated should give me 3.5"+3"+1.75"=8.25"
Kevin Hinojosa you can use a f150 lift kit and have the same results the expedition and f150 have the same suspension componets also you could possible use a excursion lift kit
Nice video!!! Great info! I have a 76 mercury grand marquis I’m going to put 26 to 28 inch rims on should I do lift or suspension kit?
yes
wait so what is better
I'm planning to change the shocks on my TJ to Rancho rs5000x. If i get a 2 inch body lift, do i need a different shock type?
Yes
hey man what would be the best 3" body lift kit for a 99 Chevy blazer?
Performance accessories if they make one for it
Wouldn't frame clearance not improve with a body lift? (Since you're lifting the body from the frame vs the frame from the ground)
All body lift helps with is tire clearance allowing bigger tires which will help with ground clearance
@@igarbutt1671 good catch, might be worth mentioning when comparing to a suspension lift (since the body lift has no clearance benefits, larger wheels will raise the frame)
So if there’s a 3 inch body lift and a leveling kit it’s just like a 6 inch suspension lift?
5"-5.5" because the common leveling sizes are 2"-2.5" but yeah you can say it's basically a 6"
What body lift should I put on my 97 Jeep Wrangler Sahara,it’s completely stock with 17” tires
PA 3”
I have 2 questions. First oneWhat about if I did a 3 in leveling kit and 3 in body lift? Second one can u haul a gooseneck/fifth wheel with a body lift?
You would probably be to high in the front and yes you can just need longer bolts to mount the 5th wheel hitch I believe
I run a 2" body & 2" suspension on my 94 zr2
So I have a 97 Jeep Wrangler and I have 31-inch tires with stock suspension. The tires are a bit to big so I cannot turn very sharp before they rub. So the biggest question is should I get a suspension or a body lift? Also where is the best place to get a lift from? So as of now I have maybe a $ 500.00 budget for a lift unless there is some engine issues which their most likely is, so in that case I may just have like a $ 200.00 budget for a lift. Also my preferred lift would be like 1 or 2 inches unless it is possible to go higher within my budget, if so please lmk.
3” body lift is the way to go
at times i tow with my 05 f150 i want to put a 3 inch body lift would it affect my trailer hitch if so what could i do to fix it
+kyle naugher no doesn't affect the hitch
Nice vid man. I got '09 Duramax with 4" body lift (came with the truck) and I run 33" tires. And that size is the max on this truck.
I'd like to put 35s or 37s one day. My truck isn't really a bogging vehicle. So I think I a bigger body lift is my answer. What you think?
I have 31's on my 99 f350 with 17's lt265/75 r16 I'm in Houston it floods a bit I want 35's with a body lift for cheap what should I do a 4' ?
A Jackson it hasn't really flooded that badly since back in april 2016. When it flooded my friend and I where not even able to drive on the roads and hes got a huge lift with like 40 inch tires. My suggestion is to just stay off the road when it floods in houston/cypress
If you want a simple ? LOOK ? adjust a shock? what adjustments do I have? or is it a simple harder ride?
What
I have a 2013 Ford F-150.. it's a 4x4 , do you know where I can get a 3 inch body lift.
performanceaccessories.com/index.php?id_product=216&controller=product
LAKEHURST OUTDOOR ADVENTURES ... thank you very much, I found another, but it said for Ecoboost only... So this is what I needed.
Do you have a video on this body lift for the Ford F-150...
Thanks again, I appreciate your help
i have a 2012 ram 1500. been throwing this thought around for months. would you recommend the 3" PA body lift with bilsteins or 3" PA body lift with the rough country 3" level kit with control arms to fix ball joint angles? thank you man!
+chad franklin body lift with bilsteins for sure
I have a f250 on 9 inches of lift on 37s . Could i add a 3 inch body lift making it a total 12 inches to fit 40s?
Yeah
most help full video ever
So i can combine body lift and leveling kit for 5.5 inches of lift?
@@GUNRAMPAGE-qp8bq yep sure can!
I'm going 3 front and 3 rear on my 97 chevy! And 3 inch body! Already have 34 with no lify
i would like to install the same body lift you have on your truck on mine. could you possibly make a video of all the wires or cables or anything you had to extend or relocate to install the body lift.
+crvic93 I'll make a how to install video
awesome i cant wait. i already have a 6 inch RC lift but i want bigger. im gunna wait to see your video then order the performance accessories body lift.
videos up now
videos up now
i already watched it. lol. thanks man. i really appreciate it. definitely gunna be doing mine soon.
So i can combine leveling and body lifts
Yes 100%
i want to lift a Lincoln town car....body or suspension lift?
Suspension #rallyCar
Basically if your actually gonna use the lift for mudding and trailing get a nice suspension lift. If your just gonna daily drive it on the road get the body lift. If you can't afford a nice suspension lift dont even bother. Buying a cheap suspension lift is the quickest way to mess your truck up.
is 900 considered cheap ?
bilstein brand. im genuinely asking im new to this
@@xodanny2955 that's a little high. Shocks should cost $250 labor $200 plus an alignment. Bilstein shocks are a great choice. Don't get a leveling kit. And if you do get a leveling kit, make sure it comes with upper control arms. You can't do a leveling kit and Bilsteins either.
Why? Is there a performance difference and a how will a cheap body lift mess anything up?
what lift kit should i do on my 1996 Chevy Silverado 5.7L vortec?
I did a 3 inch body lift with a leveling kits on my 96 GMC 5.7 and it's looks perfect at where it at. It looks big but not too big and it was fairly cheap. It came out to 300 to 400 (if you do it yourself)
alrighty thanks 🙏
Do i have to cut any steel for a Performance Accessories body lift on a 4th gen Ram 2500?
No no cutting required
Thanks Lakehurst, I just contacted Performance Accessories, they do not make a body lift for Ram 2500 with the 6.7 diesel. I guess they dont want to get involved with the intercooler on the diesel. I cant imagine that being a big deal for the lift kit.
How would I extended my gas tank neck
You don’t have to with the 3” body lift it reaches just fine
Hey what do you think if I do 2.5 suspension lift n 1 1/4 body lift. The shop where I bought my 2.5 suspension lift the not to do body lift
Do the 3” body lift u will barely notice the other one
LAKEHURST OUTDOOR ADVENTURES thanks man
What year truck? im thinkin 2003 tahoe 22x12 on 35s
2014
So basically, I have a Dakota that I'm looking to slap some 33s on and I only want to go with a 3" body lift lit. I'm basically tearing it down this summer, replacing the entire front end, the shocks in the rear and slapping POR-15 on the frame to protect it from these nasty NEPA winters. I also plan on taking the bed completely off the truck in order to do this, rhino line the bed and rockers and replace whatever is necessary. This truck was my grandfathers so eventually it will be more of a garage queen and my hauler to the track.
Ryder21 I don’t know if you did the lift or anything but I put a 3 inch PA body lift on my Dakota and it ruined it. The gap looked massive and the frame underneath stuck out like a sore thumb. Just my two cents in on it 🤷🏼♂️
I want to do a body lift on my 07 Tundra and heard great things about the Bilstein 5100s but I think 2.4 in won't be that noticeable. What do you guys recommend if not blocks for the extra height?
Have to do a suspension lift just do a 6” suspension lift
LAKEHURST OUTDOOR ADVENTURES I don't really want to spend that much. I had a Tundra with a body lift and I liked it. It was on blocks, though. So what Body lift do you recommend if you don't recommend blocks?
That’s what I recommend the performance accessories body lift paired up with a leveling kit
so if i get a 3' inch lift could i run 35's if i did some cutting?
+luke 250F wouldn't need to trim should work with just the 3"
Garbutt Productions ok thanks man, BTW love the video keep em comin.
and for a body lift do I have to extend the steering shaft
+Dan imbriaco yes
The only negative thing I dont like about body lifts is the engine looks sunken down when you open the hood especially doing a 3" body lift, many complain about the gap of the truck bed to the frame which not any issue to me there many ways to to fix such a small issue.
what’s better for off-roading ?
Suspension lift
Body lifts are good for better clearance on wheels but on newer trucks there is much more to lifting then just raising bumpers there is lot off extending & cutting hoses wires relocating the radiator lower with transmission cooler much hours involved with body lifts especially on newer tacomas.
Jerry D thanks for the reply, two years of progress later and I got a nice 3rd gen 4Runner now
Could you recommend the best body lift kit for a Nissan frontier 2015 crew cab . Honestly your video helped educate me but I just wanna get the best one thatll last and not give me any problems. I want a 5 inch lift maybe even 6 if you find a good brand or kit. Please get back to me I'd love the advice
Performance Accessories is the best company for body lifts I wouldn’t go over 3”s cause then you have to extend wires ect
LAKEHURST OUTDOOR ADVENTURES oh alright I see. Alright cool thanks man
They actually don't offer a body lift kit for my year . Any other sites that are good quality?
Where are you located
LAKEHURST OUTDOOR ADVENTURES Pennsylvania usa
i want to get 20 inch rims on a gmc envoy how big and what type of lift will i need?
+__ YoungBasshead __ no lift needed
Garbutt Productions so i just have to find rims with the right nut pattern and tires to fit then i will be good?
+__ YoungBasshead __ and proper tire size on them
Garbutt Productions how would you find the proper tire size, does it really matter?
how do you get 6 inches out of a 3 inch body lift I installed my Rough Country 6 inch lift non torsion bar drop kit myself and I clear 35s easily I could clear 37 without trimming so with a 3 inch body lift I could clear 40s
+mattd19902010 levelling kit with 3" body lift sits same height as 6" suspension lift
I Garbutt it puts the front end suspension geometry at bad angles causing components to fail prematurely
mattd19902010
colin hall what's up
more often then not, with a leveling kit your suspension is gonna come up 2.5-3 inches depending on the the kit. There for 3 inch leveling + 3 inch body = 6 inch lift.
01 f150 they just look as same as a expensive suspension lift👍🏻
Great video. This is the most comprehensive video I have seen on the two types of lifts. Great job!!
this video is shit
what did you do to solve the problem with the overheating that body lifts cause? where I live it gets up into the 100s
+Chris Flair I had no overheating issue
Should I get a 3 inch body lift or 3 inch suspension lift for my 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500
+Rixie yeah it's worth it
Body lift or suspension lift?
Its your money, do what you want
Suspension lift will be your best bet, since you will be able to install it yourself, thus not changing suspension geometry.
Rixie I got a 2000 z71 and I have a 3'' leveling kit and I run 35's with small trimming
Love your channel dude! Where'd you get that hoodie?
+I, Conquer I design my own shirts link should be in the description
5.7LifeStyle the link doesn't work for me! It says "oops, sorry something went wrong!"
+I, Conquer click the link and when it does that hit refresh
You forgot to mention when doing a bodylift you need to now 'potentially' lengthen fuel lines, the gear shifter, air intake components won't marry up as engine is bolted to chassis, factory snorkels will not marry up, a whole list of things that are bolted to the chassis that now need to reach further....
+Ben Ridgeway mine didn't need any of that
Ben Ridgeway, that was my thought. i read that by the time you fix all those length issues you spent as much or more than the suspension lift, your thoughts?
None are a issue.
Not related to Ben lol! I recently saw another video that showed with raising the body the tubing to the airbox was crimped. An easy work around, but they also lengthened the manual shifter. I want stocker reliability if I do this, I realize mpg will take a hit but that's acceptable. Thinking of the body lift and Bilstein adjustable struts with AAL
3" BL is only good for Street Queens. I have personally seen several trucks running 3" BL rip the body right off the chassis with moderate offroading. highest I'd go would be 1 1/4 with motor mount lift
Were they cheap body lifts?
I've seen a 70s Chevy step side with a 8 inch solid metal body lift to clear bigger tires. Welded to the frame and body . Seen this truck roll front ward end over end and the fucking cab and bed didn't budge off the mounts . 3.5dia.by 1/4 inch thick Steele. They are just a cheap way to clear tires all depends how you do it . Body lift is free if you are trying to just mud. And I have seen this particular person with said lift win many events and no one would ever know that is stock suspension with just body lift
my lift only cost around 400 for a suspension lift i did myself
if i get a 3 inch body lift will it affect attaching my plow
+TormentedTV nope won't affect your plow
+TormentedTV plow
People are lying about leveling kit messing up the front end of the truck..😒 thats what the kit is designed for!!! There trucks are front end was already fucking up or fucked up...ps thats what bump stop is made for
I personally don't think frame gap looks all that bad.
knappymer I'm with you.
In PA suspension lifts are illeagal on the front no matter what. Body lifts for now are fine
lol 500 for a body lift I should work up there
It's cheaper than that in the us
does body lifting effect gas consumption ?
+samuel Vlogs yeah because more wind drag
samuel Vlogs any type of lift will effect gas
not gonna lie only watched cause of the pepsi lol
Bro! I hope you switched over to coke :D
1000 subs
BODY LIFT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD THOSE BIG PIECE OF RUBBER BETWEEN THE FRAME
40 seconds of crap before actually saying anything
sircabulon this is CZcams, you can skip that part..
bias view very opionated
A guy that tells you lift your truck is the same guy that tells you that putting stickers on your car make it go faster. Useless
I dont agree with this. Body lift is trash in my opinion and it does not give you more clearance under the truck it's the exact same only you can put bigger tires. Lol
And by being able to put bigger tires on, it increases your clearance...from the ground
@@igarbutt1671 no it gives you more clearance from your tire not the rocks on the ground....clearly you dont understand body lift or suspension. Lol if you went on a rock trail with a body lift your frame and everything is just as low as before but you got a little bigger tire but still no clearance on your frame and stuff.
@@igarbutt1671 make sense now? That's why it cost so much more you are picking the frame and everything up to actually clear stuff on the trail or road not just to get up to put some tire on.
The body lift makes room for bigger tires if you increase the size of your tires from 33” to 37” you will gain 2” of clearance from the ground to the frame because you were able to increase your tire size because of the body lift
@@igarbutt1671 yeah 2 inches and that's nothing lol just spend the money for a lift that looks good and serves a purpose.
So wrong. This guy knows nothing.
Thanks for the view !
Blah blah blah no animation
they are both equally gay. long travel will eat either one offroad.. lifted trucks are for posers, most still have barely any travel
