      best remaster ever?.., almost
      => hard mode should have been accessible from the start..
      ... and now fear MP4 will end up being too easy
      ... this is what happens, when too many complain about Dread being too hard
      ... and if we don't complain about MP Remaster being too easy on normal mode, MP4 might just be too easy too

And within a day people were bugging me for content about the game. Very disappointing to see how viewers and (some) CZcamsrs approach these things sometimes. To me the game experience comes first, CZcams views come second. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Metroid!

  • @liamw6295
    @liamw6295 Před rokem +27

    Yeah I think because of the shadow drop and minimum marketing route Nintendo took with Prime 1 remaster, they plan to do the same with Prime 2 and 3 throughout this year.
    If Prime 1 was the only Prime game to get the remaster, I'm sure they would have made a bigger deal out of it and charged more money for it.
    So I believe they are going for the staggered shadow drop of "hey now here's Prime 2, $40 dollars like the last one if you want it".
    I imagine there is not much money set aside for marketting Metroid 4 due to modest sales of past games, so essentially, the remasters will do the hype/marketing for Prime 4. themselves. Shadow drops don't involve any marketing.

    Awesome Video and Topic Rob.
    I am on the same lines of thinking as Rob guys and have two Theories also.
    Theory 1 - the less glamorous one but still quality, is during the September Direct, Prime 2&3 gets Announced and gets a Standard HD Makeover, Modern Controls alongwith Morton n Classic Controls plus Digital Only Releases, possibly Shadow Dropped after the Direct.
    Theory 2 - Nintendo hanging onto Metroid Prime: Remastered wasn't as we was thinking, too Release Closer too Prime 4 but too wait for Prime 2&3 too get Remastered also, so I think Prime 2 will be shown during the September Direct and will be Remastered, not a Remaster Remake like Prime 1 but a Full Remaster nonetheless, with better Graphics, Modern, Motion, Classic Controls plus a Digital n Physical Release in October. Following the Metroid Prime 2 Announcement, Prime 3 Remastered will be Revealed getting the same Treatment as Prime 2 but with a Spring 2024 Release Window.
    I think Metroid Prime 4 is possibly gonna be a Summer Release in 2024 or a Holiday Title for 2024.

  • @LazarusDiGi
    @LazarusDiGi Před rokem +2

    You know Rob, as someone who found you during the drought before Dread was revealed, It's always beyond refreshing hearing someone speak so passionately about Metroid in a way I can relate almost 1:1. There's been times while watching that you say things I've said myself to friends or other fanatics that were word for word my thoughts and opinions. Keep up your good work as always, and I 100% agree with your theory and take on the current outlook of the Metroid franchise.
    Honestly, with the way the MP1 remaster released and the reception it's got, I see possibly one of 3 options for this going forward. Either:
    A: Nintendo released this solely as a way to get old fans and new fans alike to get into Samus's helmet, and experience the first prime game (again for some) and show off a sort of tech demo for what MP4 will look like or close to, and nothing more leaving us 1 remaster, as a hype starter for MP4.
    B: Nintendo is building up all 3 remastered games to be staggered throughout 2023 to allow fans to experience all 3 prime games as a build up while they polish and finish out development on 4, thereby putting every Prime title on the Switch, and allowing players to have a hub where they can experience the games again or catch up on the ride before 4 comes out so people don't try to pirate emulator copies of the older games (even though PrimeHack is an almost definitive PC version of the trilogy) and capitalize on the desire of the 3 remasters. (Nintendo has and always has been super strict on pirates emulating. Pokemon game ROMS as an exampe, are almost non-existent on the internet now except for a couple sketchy sites or discords that have dedicated rom chats with the files to download)
    or C: Nintendo did this as a one-time deal, and is planning to reveal MP4 at the "E3" direct in summer, and nothing more
    Logistically, It would make tons of sense after hearing rumors and leaks that a Trilogy port/remaster was coming to the switch that Primes 2 and 3 could be remastered in the same fashion and make a KILLING for nintendo based off how well MP1's remaster is doing. Physical copies sold out on Amazon already?? This remaster has garnished the same amount of hype the original in 2002 did, if not MORE. Nintendo has a MAJOR chance of making a ton of money off $40 remasters which I'm sure all of us would happily hand over for 2 and 3 as well. (If 3 does get a remaster akin to this, I'll literally cry as that was my first major entry into Metroid as a whole, aside from Prime Hunters.) Even if primes 2 and 3 aren't remastered, which I REALLY hope they do, this remake of Prime 1 nearly had me in tears from how insane of an upgrade this was and its so well done. I literally nerded out for hours just looking at graphics and sound comparisons between the OG and the remaster. It's a great time to be a Metroid fan, and I can't wait to hear more from you down the line!

  • @user-jt1ug2eu4w
    @user-jt1ug2eu4w Před rokem +1

    My theory is that they originally planned to release an HD trilogy a little bit before Prime 4 but the delay led to saving it for later, then someone at Retro Studios experimented with Prime's 4 graphic engine and made a ''Prime 1 remastered demo'' which Nintendo liked and thought that it would be a much better marketing option to just release an impressive Prime 1 version and get people hyped for 4...
    Which means that they don't have any plans for the rest of the games, releasing more Primes before Prime 4 will hurt Prime 4 sales. This also means that Metroid Prime 4 is around the corner.

    Not giving us remastered versions in the same vein as Prime for Echoes and Corruption would just be Nintendo shooting themselves in the foot. The bar is set too high now and people may be disinclined to purchase just ports, which certainly can't be $60 a piece at that point. Even asking $40 seems a stretch if all they do is port the other two. It would be incredibly jarring and weird for them to only remaster the first game, port the other two, and then have four, all on the same console. It would look so strange to go from the insane graphical fidelity of Prime Remastered to the other two games that basically get up-resed, to then go to four which will look great. I feel like they would want graphical continuity between all four games and so remastering the other two Prime games only makes sense. I can imagine it would upset and confuse a ton of people if we just get HD ports of the other games. I'm really holding out hope we get the other ones remastered because playing through Echoes in this new remastered style would be INCREDIBLE, as it is my favorite of the trilogy.

    I do entirely believe the Prime 2 and 3 are going to be staggered releases until the lead-up of Prime 4. It makes perfect sense of getting people to play the games that come before Prime 4 in preparation as well as keeping Metroid in the public mindset for a longer period. I also believe that the release of Dread delayed the release of Prime Remastered for the similar reason of keeping a constant trickle of Metroid coming across the latter half of the Switch's lifespan. Keep the critically acclaimed games rolling through and we can get Metroid up to a standard equivalent to Mario/Zelda, where it has always belonged.
    Now, for what I believe will explicitly happen: Metroid Prime 2 will release sometime at the end of the year or early next year and Metroid Prime 3 will release late in 2024. From what I understand, the next system will be announced for 2025 (though this may not be accurate) and, if so, we will likely see Prime 4 being pushed as a launch title for that new system. Whether or not it will be a cross-platform release like Breath of the Wild, though, is something I'm unsure of. I'm also somewhat hopeful that Prime 2 and 3 will be given the fill Remaster treatment if they are released like I predict.

    Indeed, I too think they'll both get remastered using the same treatment, but I think the timing's more likely to be as follows.
    2023: Echoes revealed/released during "E3 season"/early-mid summer, then Corruption revealed/released very shortly after the last Direct of the year (usually September or October), and then in 2024 we get the full reveal of Prime 4 at E3 and then it releases late 2024.

    Nintendo is all about hype trains. This theory is the thing that makes the most sense. From the rumors it sounds like Retro has only actually been working on Prime 4 for about 2 years at this time. Also retro seems to not be working on the HD remakes of Prime 2 and 3 and they were only in pre production alongside prime 1 when they left Retro's hands. Therefore it makes sense to drip feed us the rest of the prime trilogy in a more cost effective manner from other studios to keep the hype going while Retro is hard at work on Prime 4

    The problem is the touch controls in 3. I don't think they are going to require touch controls for any of them (partially because the Switch Lite can't). MP3 was made for touch controls and has never existed without them. So even a straight HD port has to deal with that, with some significant changes to the gameplay. There is more to it than just using dual sticks, some enemies you have to pull shields off, some puzzles require careful motions, etc. Oh, it could be done by adding animations or replacing some puzzles, but it's a little more complicated than with the other 2 which were originally build for the Gamecube controller.
    EDIT: If I recall correctly, this was also actually given by the "leaks" of about a year+ ago as one of the reasons Nintendo was going with the graphics remake of 1 instead of with a port of the trilogy.

Even before the remastered version I'd been playing a lot recently and man am I not able to get just 100% items on easy under 5 hours lol. Wiser I may be in my old age but I'm definitely no where near as good at playing games as my younger self. Of course I have no idea what my route was from back then. The best route I've come up with thus far is around half an hour too long. Playing on harder difficulty just makes the game longer as missiles are harder to come by and enemies are sponges. So even if I get my easy mode time down that doesn't directly translate to normal or hard mode. My younger self would be shaking his head. I'm not a speed runner in the modern sense but I do like to get under the time limit for the ending. Excluding Samus Returns. Getting that time limit requires modern day speed runner tactics that I am not about.

    Bruuhh Emily Rogers was the first to report on the existence of this game back in November 2021 before anybody else, and in the same tweet she said Prime 2 and Prime 3 get upscaled ports and nothing more.
    And its highly unlikely Metroid Prime 4 will follow up the story of the first 3 games anyway, they'll most likely go the God of War 2018 route and introduce a entirely new setting while acknowledging the events of the previous games for fans of those games. It probably won't even have the number 4 in the title so it won't alienate people unfamiliar with the franchise.

  • @Robbie_221B
    @Robbie_221B Před rokem

    I think the biggest thing is that despite the 3 (or 5 if you count the 2 main spin offs) prime games don't rely on you having played everything in order to understand, Nintendo is probably aware of the weight that a game with "4" in the title has. Since Metroid has not been as big since the last Prime Game came out, they know there are a lot of people who have missed out on the whole franchise and may look at a game called "Metroid Prime 4" and feel like they can't play it if there are 3 whole games leading up to it. If it is a stand alone installment, they are fully aware it may look intimidating to just enter the franchise. So I do believe all 3 games will be released before 4 is out. Especially if they are $40 each, Nintendo can make $120 for people that tripple dip and that can potentially subsidize Prime 4 to some extent.
