      I feel like mines will be neutered now that they have to aim for a small hit box on a big open map. Also heard that mines only detect the tires hitbox meaning a tireless vehicle will not set them off.

      Honestly as a Sapper/engiee player, I love this change. I've always been that type of player to go behind enemy lines and cause chaos with their supply/vehicles. Huge buff, even though you have to place it in a certain spot, you can range it where it covers all parts of the road with just those 3 mines you get. Now all they need to do is add red dot sights for the engineer role and its perfect.

      What be cool is if they added mines with tilt poles. They're totally a real thing, and would be an interesting option, because an infantryman could accidentally knock it to the side and blow everyone around him up.

    One comment about the sprint mechanic: I recently, as in a few months ago, switched from hold to toggle for sprinting. The one issue I've run into since the update is: since the sprint continues once you start moving again, you can accidentally sprint around a corner after pausing and you can't ADS making it slower to engage with enemies. I like to clear an unknown area with my weapon up so I can hip fire a few rounds to distract while I ADS.

      Use the fast double click option. 2 taps W 2 taps shift and ur autorunning.
      Much more in line with the dynamics of either running far or retaining the capability to naturaly press shift and sprint a bit in sqb without thinking "ill need to untoggle when i get to the corner".

    Ok, the mines are completely bogus. They are all without magnetic fuze and therefore full width attack capability? It is so anachronistic...we have predator drones in the air, shoot with M4 and HK417 but every faction uses mines from the 60s....lol

      @@urmothwr Yeah Russians....whats with US, AUS, GB? They all have magentic fuzes as standard fuze in their respective mines. Jesus, most of them have guided anti tank mines using optical fiber fuzes. Additionally, even the TM-62 can be equipped with MVN-72 magnetic fuze which was introduced in the 1980s...40 years ago.

      @@ThomyThompson What do you mean "guided anti tank mines using optical fiber fuzes"? Mine is placed on or dug under ground and is not supposed to be moving. Do you mean breakaway wires and fiber optic cables?
      I like new mechanic but mines should be completely invisible ( or smaller visible fuze or antenna...), full width attack capable (mechanically), and increase limit to 12. A as a counter, mine detector could be used by engineer (can't sprint).

    I love damage changes on the kpvt gun. Guns of such caliber should feel dangerous as they really are in real life. Lavs and brdms have powerful weapons but they lack armour, this will make them act more carefully.
    Also id like some changes to the damage of high caliber mgs like kord, m2 and kpvt against infantry. When a .50 cal doesnt oneshot people but in real life it has enough power to get guarantee kill even from 2 miles away it makes me really upset and breaks all immersion. Vehicles should be a real threat for infantry. As well as rpgs should be a real threat for light vehicles

      I ran into a Bradley with one last night that got hit by a lat and was rtb shot him maybe 6 times in the turret and he lit like a candle. Prior to the update it surely would've taken nearly a mag.

    Would be nice that they make the markers visible for hmg, tow or mortar when they aren't fully build, like hab, ammo box... It's really tiring to be forced as a SL to stay next to the construction or place a marker on it to show where it is

      you can neutral mark things in the T menu. Just bring it up and click the center between all the options. Its not perfect but it is better than nothing

    The damage against the LAVs and Strykers is more realistic if anything. Without added protection packages both those vehicles are defeated by the 14.5mm. Its is basic state the vehicles have 12.7 frontal and 7.62 all around so realistically those 14.5s would be ripping through the side armor of those vehicles

      @@joshuabouman753 If you are in a LAV and get ambushed by a 14.5 mm HMG that pumps one and a half magazines in your side armor (+ reload time), you deserve to get killed. Otherwise play some arcade shooter.

      Depends on where they are hit though, a frontal hit from a low velocity 14.5 would probably do nothing to a lav.

    BRDM is soooo good now I love it! I got melted in a LAV by a BRDM in what felt like 4 seconds haha. The reload takes forever but you can disable BMP and other APC turrets so fast. The first day of 3.2 I hated the mine changes especially when I was running armor lol I felt like there were mines literally everywhere. I drove down a road turned around came down the same exact path within 30 seconds later and bam lol But the mine changes are starting to grow on me now though I just really hope they fix the issue on some maps where the mine actually goes under ground and you cant even see the disk to try and have a chance to avoid it. Overall pretty happy with 3.2

    Honestly, the optimization for me is the best thing in this update. I have RX 580 card and it was blessing seeing my fps keeps on 50-60 fps in most of the maps.

      Oh wow that's interesting. 2060 should be way more faster than 580 and slightly faster than 1660ti. I too play at medium-low settings but with ultrawide resolution (2560 x 1080).

    as a combat engineer main I like the new changes a lot with having a lot more mines to be able to scatter everywhere. the problem now is getting friendlies to check their maps and not hit them anyway!

    i think that the choice the devs will have to make is whether to make squad realistic in the sense that some militaries are better than others, or keep it balanced

      They are trying to ballance it. Squad is not military simulation and it would be frustrating to play as the faction that always looses. That is why insurgents have more rockets, hell cannon, fast vehicles,IED...

      @@TDDoooOOOooo Insurgents are worse from an equipment standpoint but they make up for it by getting access to tactics nobody else does. This was also true in Project Reality. In the Insurgency game mode, it seemed that insurgents were bad at first glance, but you looked at the map and the countless hiding places for IEDs and so on it quickly became apparent that playing as the coalition forces was not easy.

      @@CrizzyEyes This was also true in Vietnam during the 60s and more recently in Afghanistan. Fact is; despite all our high tech gear, Asymmetrical warfare isn't our strong suite lol. Putting a conventional military against a guerrilla force will always be a difficult situation, especially if the guerrilla if organised and well funded.

      @@Twizted86 In terms of actual combat the west is good at asymmetrical warfare, the Vietcong were basically wiped out near the end of that war. In Afghanistan the taliban lost control and had to hide and couldn't freely move around their country losing 10s of thousands of fighters.
      Politically the wars were failures though.

    I hope they'll address the FV107 (Scimitar), prior to this it was somewhat on par with a BRDM or BTR-80 in terms of damage output but now it just seems out of place. It's one of my favourite vehicles weirdly but it's damage output is comparatively low even compared to a .50 cal RWS or open top vehicle.

    I wish they bright back the alpha 10 M4 sounds, they were incredible!
    Still hyped by how OWI is supporting Squad, this update was clearly not content heavy, but 3.2 was amazing in terms of content.
    Still pumped for the Chinese PLA to be added. There is also hope to see OWI buy the French faction mod.

    I taught I was doing something wrong last night with the toogle sprint. It really is annoying when you stop moving and want to slow walk but the toggle is still on and you run again, most times to your death.

    Infantry AT should balance the BRDM really well now. Before the BRDM was situational asf. Borderline bad like you said, against anything else with an hmg and its only logical that 14.5 would be more effective than 12.7. My only caveat to this is that you cant get "killed out" of the BRDM, if crew positions where model like ammo, engine and track components were that could nullify the almost arcade feel of being hit 7 times with LAT and only missing a wheel and 4 mm of the health bar. If right mouse coax was a thing that would make the MEA BRDM the best light scout car thing this side of the Euphrates!

      As someone who has put many hours into War Thunder, believe me, fully modeled crew also has its drawbacks. You will think twice the first time you get penetrated first hit in an MBT and all the crew die. IMO, the game is in a decent spot for a balance between realism and teamwork-promoting gameplay.

      @@CrizzyEyes thats fair, i was just thinking in terms of crew fragility. making veicles more of a thing rather than just a bit 3-4 player hitbox, surly it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine an implemented mechanic in which when the turret is knocked out some of the crewmen inside the turret may perish, and a tank being ammoracked is so underwhelming in squad, I just think the vehicles have a bit left before they are gonna be completed to the final form the devs introduce. At least I hope.

    the toggle sprint thing is kind of like playing an old video game from the early 2000's that forces you to use the arrow keys for movement instead of WASD. I'm in that camp and that's just kinda the best way i have to describe the feeling.

    7:46 I already see a bug: If you hit the water too hard by jumping from a high place and fully submerge for example your BTR, you'll be force ejected and killed by drownng even when your BTR just floats its way to the surface and becomes free target practice for the enemy.

    The KPVT is so much more capable than many games recognize. When you see the actual ammunition next to American .50 Cal, the 12.7mm round looks tiny while the 14.5mm cartridge is very close to being a cannon. These are BIG bullets.

    Well they say toggle sprint, but it sounds like they will have to create a new one called indicator sprint, just like the indicator on a car that is turned on and then switches itself off once the corner has been taken.

    Almost all modern mines are either magnetic or vibration sensitive for the exact reason in the game where If they are only pressure sensitive it greatly reduces the area of deterrence for the mines this is a major nerf that in my opinion doesn’t fit into the realism of squad

      "Almost all modern mines are either magnetic or vibration sensitive" Bullshit, they are in use but regular pressure mines are still the mainstay, they are just used in a VERY different way compared to Squad.
      Also if you want realism then all the vehicles in game should be glass cannons that are put down by one LAT to the side, any vehicle on this planet would die of a magnetic mine. Hell when we went through training on them they effectively have enough penetration to destroy 5 stacked T-90s.

    On some maps yes i have noticed a decent FPS boost, I have a 1070ti and a ryzen 5 1600. Bit out dated now but should still be able to play a 2015 game hahaa. But on some maps i have about a average 10-15 FPS boost. Which is huge for me

    It doesn't however increase how many total mines you can place, and the speed in which you can dig the mine down hasn't been increased either (iirc). Meaning back line CE mining is gonna be harder to do. Maybe that's what OWI wanted?

    The problem with the current sprint change for people like me who had it set to "toggle" is I'm noticing that my character sprints without me even holding/pressing the sprint key (Left Shift). If I want to hold W down to walk forward and get an angle while having my gun at the ready (not ADS) for quicker target acquisition, my character starts sprinting which makes pulling my gun up for a quick engagement impossible. Getting killed while sprinting, especially when I do not want to sprint, is ultra annoying and needs to be changed.

      they dont care about vehicle players, ASLAV commander sensitivity bug is still in game, still cant use coax without unloading main gun for some reason, HE is grossly weak at ranges it should be ripping people apart, turret oscillation for both commander and gunner still in game, etc.

    a mine detonating despite the vehicle technically not hitting it with its wheel or track is one hundred percent realistic
    alot of the TM-62 AT mines are equipped with either vibration sensors or the polish ZN-97 Fuze. Which is a magnetic impulse fuze which essentially means if something metal drives over it a metal object within the mine will be moved towards it, causing the mine to detonate.
    i don't really see why they changed this.

    The toggle sprint not untoggling is my biggest headache rn. I know how toggling usually works because thats how ive always played games so when my guy keeps putting his gun down to sprint my brain fries for a second and im like "WHAT?!" and then i retap shift. The main issue with this is when im running into a building and next thing i know im in close quarters combat, I forget to retap shift and having your gun up first in any game is the best way to win a gunfight. When im creeping around a corner and half a second later my guy initiates high octane sprinting it absolutely can and does fuck me. Ive gotten used to it now but I know theyre gonna fix it and im gonna have to revert my brain to old toggle!

    The sprint toggle 'on' after pausing doesn't feel good right now. I'm a toggler myself. Other fps games use different techniques for the same situation. E.g. in The Cycle: Frontier you only stop sprinting if you let go of any movement at all. When you started with a toggled sprint you can strafe by pressing a/d in normal speed but pressing w again keeps you in sprint mode. Letting go of any movement button resets into normal speed.

    Wish vehicle health pools would be more complex. Why would a LAV-25 explode when hit in an area that doesnt have fuel or munitions. What if the BRDM etc would only disable vehicles? (Perhaps unless ammo racked/fuel tank hit)

    The mine changes are mostly bad. Firstly, land mines are very big and heavy, and even on the player model you can clearly see they should carry only one. Conventional carrying three makes no sense. All engis and sappers should carry one except the AUS one two because they're special and I think their player model is different. Basically all modern mines are magnetic so them only detonating when physically ran over by a wheel or track is also unrealistic. If the intention was to nerf mines and prevent the questionable tactic of mining near enemy main, then the community already had a much better solution. Make it so that mines cannot be dug down into asphalt and concrete. Very simple, makes complete sense, and would bring good changes to vehicle and engineer tactics. Vehicles would no longer be forced to stupidly go off-road all the time. Instead, they would keep to the middle of asphalt and concrete roads and be wary of dirt ones. Just like irl, who would have thought. An interesting feature as a counterbalance would be to make C4 add "cracks" to asphalt and concrete when detonated on them. Mines could then be dug into the cracks. This would require more effort but vehicles would be less cautious on roads so more vulnerable. This is harder to implement than just tweaking some values in a pdf but sometimes some work needs to be put in to make a cool feature. The cracks wouldn't have to actually change the material on the map (which is infeasible I'm guessing), they would just be another invisible game object added on top of the surface just like a deployable. I guess the ammo cost reduction is ok but 50 was a good amount. Being able to pick up placed mines is cool, this is a good change.
    Giving unscoped automatic riflemen more grenades is a decent balancing change but what really needs to happen eventually is iron sights buffed and/or sights nerfed in general. This is necessary because the capability gap between scoped and unscoped is so large that unscoped kits are rarely picked and playing unscoped can be very annoying at times. In medium to long range scopes are infinitely better than irons while in close quarters irons' advantages are subtle at best. I propose decreasing ADS time for iron sights so it's lightning fast and increasing it further for sights and especially scopes. If you think about it with a scope you need a half a second (or more if you're inexperienced) to align where you're looking at with where the sight picture and gun is pointing. The more magnification the more precisely you have to align your view so it takes longer. This is especially apparent in sniper scopes where you just see blackness (the scope wall) around the sight picture. After too much recoil you might get misaligned again. I remember this being more of a thing in old squad, now it seems the gun snaps back to the center of the screen much faster and barely leaves from there anyway. They should bring it back for scopes. Scopes also weigh a bit which slightly increases the time to move the weapon up. Additionally, holding shift to hold your breath should zoom even more on the iron sights than it does now - it's ridiculous that it can be difficult to see at a mere 100 meters without magnification. With these changes iron sights would become more viable in certain situations and people would think about using them for their own sake instead of as a price to pay for an additional grenade.
    I use hold sprint myself but the solution to the many toggle players' problem is obvious. Simply reset the toggle once the player stops moving, they have to press shift again to turn it back on. This should be a hotfix hopefully since I've heard it's really messing some people up and doesn't seem hard to do. The actual intended sprint changes are very nice for quality of life, I did notice that you have to walk a bit before sprinting and it did bother me a bit when sprinting cover to cover, but I never thought of it as something that could be fixed. Kudos.
    The buff to the KPVT is nice. It makes some of the lighter vehicles more like glass cannons which they are.
    About drowning. Getting force ejected from open vehicles makes sense because of the water pushing you off. It definitely looks better than a full logi at the bottom of a river. Drowning right now is pretty terribly implemented though. A normal person can easily hold their breath for over a minute if they are forced to so it makes no sense that you get damaged so quickly. The damage should start after about thirty seconds at least. If we can't swim (blah blah blah something about heavy equipment ok maybe) at least let us walk on the bottom without being immediately dissolved by the seemingly extremely corrosive oxygen dihydride. It isn't lava. Would be cool if there was an animation for moving hands in a breaststroke motion which helps with moving in water a lot. A cool mechanic would be to make how much oxygen you have left based on your stamina bar, for example 100% giving 45 seconds and 0% 15 seconds. You'd have to catch your breath before crossing. Also it would be nice to have a separate damage indicator rather than the blood, maybe bubbles with an appropriate sound and FOV change.
    The new AK sound is a bit better than the last one but for God's sake why can't they just revert to the old one everyone was happy with it. The new ones have no power at all it's just a pop. The sound designer is probably doing it just as a change for the sake of change. Just revert and focus on some other sounds. If you can't think of anything just do nothing instead of making sounds worse, or add tweeting birds or something idk.
    The other small changes are great.

      Veteran combat engineer here, you're absolutely right. Mines are heavy as fuck and we'd only carry two of them at max since both are about 10+ kilos each. Considering that you're also armed, carrying extra ammunition and items, having three mines is just weird.
      I'd also add that modern armies still use older mines with no magnetic mechanism because there are so many of those laying around in storage, so I kind of get that change, but they could've given conventional forces fewer magnetic mines and insurgents two of the older ones.

    Squad does not run on my setup anymore. After loading screen the game freezes...everytime. Several reinstallations and deleting cache files did not work. I wonder how OWI fucked this up.
    On this setup Squad run without any issues till 2018 but this update made it literally unplayable.

    100% a toggle sprint player and I hate when games really take the "toggle" part too far and make it a hard toggle all the time.

    The biggest graphical change I've noticed is that Squad runs noticably smoother with less stuttering and frame drops. FPS improved by maybe 10 but the new smoothness makes the game more enjoyable
