Was für ein Genie muss man eigentlich sein, so eine Musik schreiben zu können. Diese Western-Filmmusik ist über 50 Jahre alt und ich bekomme beim zuhören Gänsehaut. Absolut genial. Ennio Morricone war definitiv ein Genie. Ich wünsche ihm Engelsgesang an der Himmelspforte 👱♀️👱♀️👱♀️
Ich bin selber Musiker und komponiere meine Musikstücke selber,- aber solche Melodien in einer so hoher Genußposition ist so phantastisch und man begiebt sich in einem Traum der Harmonie und Gelassenheit und man kann dann kaum glauben, was für grausame Dinge auf unserer Welt passieren die absoult unnötig sind wobei alles so schön sein könnte.
Ja das kann ich bestätigen im Film Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod geht es ja auch um Leid und Freude ..ein auf und ab der Gefühle selten hat mich so ein Film mitgenommen...Ich weiß das jede Szene gestellt ist aber diese Natürlichkeit haut ein um ..

I watch this video daily as I have been for several years now. I had the good fortune to see Mr. Morricone once and only once. People can brag about seeing these fancy stage acts to music but they will never know what it is like to see a true genius performing masterful work such as this. I have been asked many times over by friends and family why I don't go to concerts. All I can say and they never truly understand when I tell them that having sat and watched Mr. Morricone nothing else is worth going to.

Ennio Morricone is the Bach of our century.He can compose soft songs (Here's to you, Joan Baez ) and really scaring music (The Heretic- Exorcist2, The thing) without forgetting his music for Sergio Leone and his classical music. Certainly one of the best performances of the legendary piece by Ennio Morricone, performed by an orchestra.
I watch this video daily as I have been for several years now. I had the good fortune to see Mr. Morricone once and only once. People can brag about seeing these fancy stage acts to music but they will never know what it is like to see a true genius performing masterful work such as this. I have been asked many times over by friends and family why I don't go to concerts. All I can say and they never truly understand when I tell them that having sat and watched Mr. Morricone nothing else is worth going to.

the reason it never got nominated for an oscar is because the movie have not been made in America.. if the category for best foreign film was available at 1968 I could be almost sure that it would have been nominated for it

Ennio Morricone is the Bach of our century.He can compose soft songs (Here's to you, Joan Baez ) and really scaring music (The Heretic- Exorcist2, The thing) without forgetting his music for Sergio Leone and his classical music. But the man is no anglofiel en therefore, he never got an Oscar; A real shame !!!

I sometimes would play this movie just to hear the soundtrack.. especially "C'era Una Volta il West" or also titled "A Bed Too Big".. the original wordless vocals were by Italian singer Edda Dell'Orso, the woman singing here did an absolutely exceptional job! .
The composition is truly an unbelievable piece of work, the beauty is remarkable, (tearful even) unmatched in many ways.. bringing to mind the phase " they just don't make em like that anymore"!

Yes "timeless masterpiece" indeed. But I think the singer here is not good in the entrance (one note out of tune and the highest note coming unexpressively too quickly).
