- In a viral exchange, Representative James Talarico (D-Austin), a Christian and former public school teacher, grills the Republican lawmaker, Candy Noble (R-Lucas) over her bill's unconstitutionality and how the legislation violates Christian teachings.
Who is this actual Christian man spouting words of golden wisdom?
Because, as an agnostic, he's exactly the sort of Christian I would never debate. I may not believe as he does, but I respect the Hell out of him. He's living the things he believes in, and that's a hundred percent ok with me.
Maybe the gung-ho, use it like a club Republicans who call themselves "Christian" should listen more to people like this.
Also a Constitutionalist, who new UT and Harvard grad. Yes, James Tararico will be a Texas and National star⭐he may have to move they way political Texas Ideology permeates under Abbott and Patrick. Who knows who will replace Paxton or if he stays?🙏💞🤠
His pastor is radically progressive, so I'm sure he is too. And I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he's gay.
So when a democrat liberal is enthusiastic about his beliefs he is "spouting words of golden wisdom"

I've been a Christian for over 70 years and I have never seen the Ten Commandments posted anywhere in any of the hundreds of Christian homes I've been in much less be CONSPICUOUSLY POSTED. Why should the State be required to CONSPICUOUSLY POST the Ten Commandments on the wall when Christians don't even post it in their own homes?
Because its easier to indoctrinate the next generation and let them do all the hard work than it is to actually walk the walk.
These false christians are scared their losing their power because the US is becoming less and less religious as the years go by and as the march of progress continues. Unfortunately they give true christians like you a bad name by their blasphemy of comparing their golden calf to the son of God himself, among worse things that I would dare not say. This coming from me who left the church because of what it was becoming and due to certain actions of the clergy in charge of my local church all those years ago. I personally, and with all due respect believe that living with the bible, and living BY it, are two entirely different things, the former being far easier then the latter, but I respect those that work their whole lives living by the teachings of the bible even if I don't always agree with them.

Beautifully said!! The hypocrisy within protestant denominations has led me to feel a deep sense of shame about my spirituality and a desire to not be associated with Christianity. Said hypocrisy being reflected in legislation is a deeply terrifying trend, thank you for taking a stand for what is right.

This is a MAJOR violation of the student's rights. The VERY FIRST commandment tells them they MUST worship the god of Abraham. Had someone wanted to put up Greek commandments where you have to worship Zeus they would have a conniption fit.

I am fairly sure the US constitution doesnt state christianity as the only religion that can be part of the state. If this goes through, ANY religion that make a petition to do the same will have legal rights to add their 10 commandments or whatever they have to those schools as well....

Thank you, religion should not be pushed on anyone & if we take the time to teach our children about one then it should be inclusive of all religions. How many different religions are there with how many gods? Taking the time to teach children about all religions is not how we fix schools, we need to teach how to manage your money, properly treat & raise a family & all the skills they may need to move into a job suited for them, this includes how to get along with others, this is what school is for. Religion is a thorn that wastes time & only brings judgement, hate & wars keeping us from being a civil society that embraces diversity. Especially the Christian nationalists pushing their Nazi beliefs into the US that has fought against them throughout our history.
I mean, seriously, if you're going to go ahead and propose that schools have to post the rules of one superstition, don't you then need to also post the rules of ALL the superstitions? I lean right on almost everything, however, forcing the ten commandments to be displayed in every classroom is bullshit. Are they going to allow muslim folks to display their beliefs in these classrooms? I have a feeling that the answer is a resounding no. ALL or NONE. It's only fair, right? Right? That type of thing should be in religious schools, not normal, public schools.
Ideally it would be NONE or NONE, given that our government is an explicitly secular institution.
