Irvin Kershner On The Ending To The Empire Strikes Back

Irvin Kershner was a great choice to direct this film. He brought in many great ideas. I believe the most important thing he did well in was the characters. So much of this middle chapter had to focus a lot on the characters, especially Luke.

I Love The Empire Strikes Back so much and The Empire Strikes Back is my second favorite Star Wars film along with Star Wars 1977. The Empire Strikes Back was a superb Star Wars film. The Empire Strikes Back had brilliant direction by Irvin Kershner, it was the sci-fi film that came out a year after Alien with Sigourney Weaver and Moonraker with Roger Moore in May 1980, and The Empire Strikes Back is one of my absolute favorite sci-fi films. Mark Hamill was always great as Luke Skywalker, I loved Frank Oz's performance as Yoda, and Luke's lightsaber fight with Darth Vader on Cloud City was awesome. The third act on Cloud City was absolutely stellar, Lando Calrissian was a very good supporting Star Wars character, and the cliffhanger ending for Empire is one of the all time best movie endings in cinema.
I also love both Alien and Moonraker from 1979. Alien is my all time favorite Ridley Scott film, Moonraker with Roger Moore is a very underappreciated and great bond film, and Moonraker was my very first bond film that made me a big fan of James Bond.

Perfect 2nd act. I remember being about 10 years-old and saying I had seen this film 25 times. Guess I lost count after that..
