Very well done. Obviously now we need to add 4th and 31. Also, I'm old so I would like to add the Kick (Van Tifton) and the Sack (Cornelius Bennett) to my list. PS: I saw both of them live!
Old enough now to have seen 13 NCs by the Tide in my lifetime. 6 by Bear. 1 by Stallings. 6 by Saban. So much joy and so many great and memorable plays it’s hard to pick the greatest. ROLL TIDE!
I got to see 78 and 79 Bear championships, and the rest. I was a freshman in high school for the 78. I was born in Alabama but we moved to Michigan when I was young. I've always bled Crimson though. I had 11 Alabama shirts, and wore one every day. I got a lot of grief from the Wolverine fans, but with two nattys during my high school time, they got to suck it! Roll Tide!
The George Teague play vs Miami is my favorite. That 92-93 Bama defense was as good as I have ever seen. Miami had a very good team, were favored by 14 points, but they did not score an offensive touchdown. The number of interceptions Bama had that year might have set a record.
George Teague’s stripping Lamar Thomas was a great play but it was called back. Teague also had a pick six against Miami in ‘92. The greatest play in college football history especially Alabama history is Tua’s 2nd & 26
Actually, because of this play, the penalty on Bama meant Miami just has to take the penalty yards instead of getting additional yardage added on to the massive gain that play would have had. Plus that receiver was known as one of the fastest in the game, and the fact that not only did Teague come from WAY back to catch him, he took the ball from him mid-stride, means that this one is easily the #2 biggest play behind 2nd and 26. 👍🏻
This is a great list. So glad you remembered Tyrone Protho’s amazing catch behind the back of the Southern Miss defender. But Let’s be realistic. This program has had way too many incredible moments to limit it to just 5 1/2 minutes. Forget about the fact that it needs to be updated to reflect the 2023 Iron Bowl, there’s still so much missed. Metchie blistering the Florida defender who intercepted Mac Jones in the 2020 SEC Championship. Amari Cooper’s 99 yard touchdown reception. Marcell Dareus intercepting the Texas freshman and throwing him down like a rag doll in the 2009 championship. Pretty much anything by Shawn Alexander 😂 Cornelius Bennett’s epic sack on the Notre Dame QB. Van Tiffin’s kicking against Bo Jackson’s Auburn team. The Goal Line Stand.
And then there was the 1967 Iron Bowl when Kenny Stabler did his Run in the Mud, giving The Tide a 7-3 win on a field that was so muddy, Bear Bryant had the guys punting on third down. Too bad you missed that one. It was great!
We’re so lucky to have had all these great players and teams. I grew up and still live about 30 minutes from Bryant Denny so I’ve got to see some great plays over the years. I couldn’t imagine being a fan of any other school. Roll Tide!!!
The Yeldon screen vs LSWHO and the Terrance Cody block are my 2 favorites from the Saban era. I was on my knees for the Cody block. That was before Alabama had had any real success under Saban and it was life or death. Anytime you can take the lead vs LSU with less than a minute to go is big as well. 😂 As far as all time, the George Teague strip on Lamar Thomas from Miami is the best play I've ever seen from Alabama in my lifetime. I was 13 years old. I remember going to school and all the kids teasing me about being an Alabama fan and saying that they were going to lose. I was losing my mind when George ran that big mouth clown down. Going to school after that game was sweet indeed. I have to say, with all the Chips Saban won, that one in 92 was the most dominant IMHO.
I enjoyed this video! Now you're gonna have to add 4th and 31. It's ironic that all Bama fans heard for 3 years was the kick 6. Now, the shoe is on the other foot.
Wow this video is actually pretty accurate. I think 2nd & 26 is the greatest play in college football history. Also the onside kick in 2015 solidified Nick Saban in my mind of being the GOAT
Lots of great plays, obviously a young fellow. Look up Rocky Stop, Roman Harpers best play at Bama. The goal line stand, Shaun Alexander has many to choose from. Antonio Langham’s pick against Florida. Derrick Thomas, Bennett vs ND. Roll Tide I’m just glad you picked 10 and as a fan base there’s still plenty of leftovers!
I think the Honorable Mention list could have held one more entry...the 1985 Iron Bowl final drive that was mostly Mike Shula to Al Bell in just over a minute from deep in Bama territory, then the incredible 52 yard kick by Van Tiffin. Just...Wow!
Love how bama defense shut Johnny football down the second time he played Alabama aggies already thought they had won the game before it got started 😂👍
Wow... you went ALL THE WAY BACK to the mid-90's. I guess it is a LITTLE hard to find video from the 60's and 70's. It was nice to see Dabo lose his mind after the on-side kick LOL
All due respect to prothro, my favorite all time is Reggie Grimes swatting down a UF pass, catching it before it hits the ground, running around the side rather than up the middle and outrunning the UF players to the end zone. Just impressive since he was more known for strength than speed.
Most of those plays wouldn’t make the top 500. You rated a TD reception vs a 1AA school as greater than a national title winning goal line stand vs Penn State.
Julio Jones vs LSU? Dennis Riddle vs Auburn? Burgdorf to Toderick Malone? Barry Krause on 4th and goal? Antonio Langham pick6? Van Tiffin Kick? Sherman Williams td vs Ohio State? Kenny Stabler mud run?
You have Mt Cody blocking his second field goal of a game which if he doesn't, Alabama doesn't play for a national championship as an honorable mention?? Then a touchdown pass against Georgia State as #5?????
How is George Teague stripping the ball from Lamar Thomas in the '93 Sugar Bowl not here? That was an amazing play by Teague, even if it was called back for a penalty.
You have number 1 right, but the best plays have to have significance to the the rest of the season. Beating way less opponents with a big play has been done by many teams. Who cares. Either way RTR!!!

I've seen most of the greatest games and plays going back to the wishbone days. But here's one not on film and a long time ago that deserves mention: Jan 1, 1927>> With about two or three minutes to play, a player blocked a punt vs Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Three plays later we scored, then kicked off and another 3 or so plays the game ended. We were outplayed badly, but tied Stanford that day 7-7, and that boy's effort gained us one of our sanctioned national titles.
Can I ask how old you are? I'm 56, the Van Tiffin kick in 85 against Auburn (52 yards) the Goal line stand in 79 by Barry Krause and others, the Teague TD Interception against Miami, the Langham interception against Florida in the 1st SEC Championship game. So many. I'd think you'd be around 35 and 40. Great bunch though.
I enjoyed this but it is a bit hilarious. Bama has been playing football for about 120 years and this guys favorite player in "HISTORY"! all occurred in the last 20. Not a one in the first 100 years. A FSU fan these aren't really spectacular highlights looks kinda depressing to be a Alabama fan ? I don't watch too much Alabama football but as a outsider only 2 plays come to mind, Jonny football running circles around the Alabama d lobbying a td pass in front of the student section lol and saban trying a 75 yrd field goal and Chris Davis running from auburn to Tuscaloosa to score lol oh yeah Elliott from ohio st running right up the gap to take Alabama soul wait... Lawrence not even sweating during natty game just throwing td after td then fixing his hair i remember more than i thought! Go noles
Well first of all, some of the plays can be boring because they’re just plays that mean a lot to me, hence why the video is called my 10 “favorite”. Secondly, it’s impressive that you were able to mention 4 of the whopping 9 total losses from 2012 to 2018, while managing to ignore all 91 wins in that time period. Personally, I don’t watch too much FSU football, but what comes to mind for me is losing your undefeated season to a 3-7 Georgia Tech on a blocked field goal whose only wins that season were Alcorn State, Tulane, and of course FSU. I also seem to remember that same Trevor Lawrence 2018 Clemson team coming into your building and winning 59-10. Anyways, I look forward to the absolute mauling that Georgia is about to put on the Noles in the 5th-place bowl. Roll Tide.
My favorite play was last night when Jalen Milroe ran straight into the heart of the Michigan defense on 4th and goal. Awesome play call and execution.
That Drake return when Chris Fowler says “Watch out Kenyan Drake can fly!” Always gets me
I always remember the team reaction.
Very well done. Obviously now we need to add 4th and 31. Also, I'm old so I would like to add the Kick (Van Tifton) and the Sack (Cornelius Bennett) to my list. PS: I saw both of them live!

The sack by Bennett is still one of my favs!
