    Your music transported me... I don't know where but it transported me to some nice place. It was mysterious and enigmatic but pleasant to my ears. It just changed my mood and I was delighted with the sounds and live performance. Thanks for posting this vid.

      Thanks so much for such nice words! :-) It really make me happy, and it motivates me to make some more music again. But I wrote it here many times, since my doughter born, I'm now completely without time... But I hope one day I'll return and try make some more... I have also one a bit similar piece here, did you hear it?: czcams.com/video/VM1OZZqJnRA/video.html

      @filipgruner4255  Před 8 lety +1

      +blizznook Thanks, Yes I like this machine a lot. But I was always Roland fan and many years I was buying everything except Roland... :-D I think, the most important reason for choosing the right instrument is to hear Your real internal empathy, when you play it, see it, feel it, etc. somewhere in showroom. Don't buy that just after you see any demo... By my meaning, all today's synths can sound how You want and can make the fantastic music. I think it's more about to buy what you really LIKE than what you see from the demo! I mean in my case af coarse the sound, but also the design. The instrument is a piece of nice design too, and its very important, Sometimes I like to play with this toy cause simply I like the design, colour schema, shiny surface which I like to polish :-) etc. etc.. The reasons for inspiration are sometimes unbelievable! OF COARSE THE SOUND! But I know the other intrument is possible to reprogramme in so different way, that it can be interesting for me the same... It needs the time and patience only to get it from the machine... So, my advice is: Forget my demos and go to some shop and try really feel what "kind" of synth you really like, which philosophy of marks you really admire in your heart... And believe, you will be able to make nice music from all of them... Cheers! Good luck!

    FILIP...REALLY NICE...LOVE THAT CHORD PROGRESSION...VERY CHILL TRANCE...IT'S REALLY MOODY AND KIND OF MYSTERIOUS SOUNDING...THE ELECTRIC GUITAR LEAD WAS REALLLLLLY COOL AND PLAYED BEAUTIFULLY....I COULD LISTEN TO THIS "STUFF " FOR HOURS...ALSO YOUR REALTIME CONTROL (FILTERING) ADDED SO MUCH TO THE DYNAMICS OF THE PIECE.....I HEARD THE FAIRLIGHT VOCAL SAMPLE IN THERE AS WELL, WHICH I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED....THEN 8Os BAND "ART OF NOISE" USED THE SOUND ALL OVER THEIR ALBUMS...IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THEM, CHECK THEM OUT...THEY WERE INCREDIBLE....ANYWAY, NICE JOB...KEEP POSTING, I'LL BE WATCHING AND LISTENING ! Thank You so much Jeff! I have never hear so many compliments for my music. Really thank You. It's so nice to read Your comment. I was making synth music already in my 18 (in 1993) for my father's videostudio, but he never find such words of kindness for my music. Maybe, in those days, it helps a lot for creation and motivation. I'm so glad that my music someone can like it. I can't play so well as many people here on CZcams, this was just the try to make something similar. Thank You for inspiration of that music group. I like maybe more melodical things also... That "Fairlight like" vocal is my created synth sound, using 4 different voice samples from Roland FA-06, very shaped by LFOs and internal synth engine, little distorted by "bit crusher" (internal effect) for to get such "ugly noisy sound" from synths of 80's... The filtering is not filtering, but I have programed the 2 knobs to change levels of this 4 elements in 2 axis like vector synth make with joystick. So, then it makes the effect like classic filtering, but it's quite different sound colour... OK. :-) Thanks a lot again Jeff! You really motivates me to make soon something similar again. Here is also some another try of the same if you like it: czcams.com/video/HKTXbsT7GHc/video.html
      Cheers!
      p.s. ...Maybe You mean "the filtering" on the whole final song. OK, :-) Thx, just I'd like to play as DJ... :-D thx.

    • @filipgruner4255
      @filipgruner4255  Před 9 lety +2

      +AmgNoWai Thank You very very much! :-) I think, everyone has own taste concerning the sound. But I had many synthesizers (Yamaha Motif XS fully expanded, K2500, Korg Triton, M50, Emu samplers, older Roland stuff, etc.). And I must say, what I like on FA-06 most, is the possibility to sound as modern sharp synth as very retro 80' synth. The sound could be very very different. And combination of the VA synth engine with the poorer sample based sounds, makes some nice mood of music for me. And this FA-06 can. I love the equalizer on each of 16 parts. This for example on Fantom G is not possible. And this change the sound very much, I think. The Fantom G was long time on my "wish list". But now I have to say, with this machine, I'm not limited by sound now... I only see my own playing possibilities... But as I say, everyone has own "likes" for every mark or instrument. Someone hates the glossy surface on the FA-06, I love it... :-) Although the FA is plastic, it is for example much stiffer on twist, than older "full steel body" Novation KS 5, which I had at home too... Also quite another feeling than from Korg M50, which I felt for me too plastic and like a cheap thing... :-) I have better feeling even in comparing with the Korg Krome, concerning the "plastic feel". Nice day and thanks again for nice comment! :-)

    Hey Filip,
    Thank you for demonstrating the creative capacity of this keyboard/synth and educating us with this video. I agree with your purpose here of making music for individual creative exploration. It's very fun.
    Question:
    I'm a metal guitar player but like electronica (trance, house, etc) too. Im researching what gear can give inspiring sounds for making trance/house music. This video is a few years old but-
    Have you found/discovered any new tools that have virtually endless tonal options for making trance music?
    From my research thus far native instruments Maschine looks very promising. What are your thoughts?

    • @filipgruner4255
      @filipgruner4255  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Joseph, thank You. Since I have FA-06, I didn't try any other HW or SW instrument. Actually I have not much time to play...:-) My general opinion is, that the "taste to make any music" is not question of type of synth etc. It's kind moment of your momental internal mood. You can feel you just made perfect trance with your 20 years old K2000 or you can have tons of best contemporary SW and just feel bored and stucked in possibilities... My advice is: try to feel your hearth, which company you like, spend some time in store and find the instrument you generally like. Buy them, than forget that others exists, wake up in the morning, and try to make best trance you want... Otherwise you spend rest of live with choosing possibilities... :-) Don't compare yourself with anythink you have seen and heard, just play for your happiness... :-) Your question is so complex, that there is no simple answer... Good luck! Cheers!

    It's still so alien to me, I've only ever used analogue stuff, I think it looks like a spaceship landed on its XXstand uknow, like a sentient being looking down on my beloved Korgs etc... I move toward it like a collaborator now, where do I start? Will we be able to connect? Otherwise it's question of sound programing and Your music ideas and skills... I often don't know, what I will create, just start with playing nice sound, reprogramming them to suit my taste, and when it start to motivate me, the process of making session starts... :-) Not any sure of good result, but sometimes I decide to record it for inspiration others...

      Thanks... :-) Yes, these sounds are not presets. I made my own sounds, that's the key for to get the unique sounding FA machine... It has great potential to make amazing sounds. Just get deep into the structure of programming... Needs time to learn the basics, but I think, the structure is possible to reach comparing other more complicated instruments. Next thing is well "cooked" effects. Try to play with timing the delay, try to play with miliseconds rather then using tempo based setup... It will sounds different. We live in time of unifying and comfort life. When all use the defaults, the result sounds a bit same. I also use often default setups, but it's more cool to make something completely from the ground... So, the key for inspiration is, by my meaning, the sound. Let's make it! When you have your own well sounding patch in nice delay, that's like to be on drugs... ;-) It's completely another feel, then when you just searching right presets... It's boring... I often start at the morning, without listening any sounds, initialize the patch, take the sample chart manual and start cook own sound!!! Good luck! Cheers!

      Hi, thanks! :-) I think, the first step is to make, modify or choose some nice sound. Once it is pad, once it is bass, etc. No any exact way to start making trance or any music... Just find the sound you really feel it inspires you in that moment... That's the key... Cause in that moment you start play what that sound needs... This was in my case here that pad I made on my own. Such a bit old school sounding with that motions with "vector type" controling. So, and made multitimbral performance with the bass on the right hand, cause I can't play well the left hand. :-) And I just start on FA-06 the rhythm section, just first techno style rhythm and start to play this idea, just simple chords and the sound was monstrous for me... And then the song was starting... My advice is: Start to play the sound presets and modify them as you can, put there a lot of delay (try to play with the right timing of this effect) or try to make your completely own sound, it seems long process, but afterwild you will be able to make what you want! FA-06 is by my meaning just fine deep to create nice sounds. Not overcomplicated as other instruments, try to make a sound and let him inspire you... :-) Cheers!

      +Solaris 3 Thanks. No samples used there... Everything is played from FA-06 internal sounds. I use the pads just for changing the tracks with different sounds in real time play.

      +Van Breemen Nalam Hi, Yes I have the system update v1.03 - I think only some bugs were repaired, no new functions. But I was happy with original system version too. If once or twice a whole time it froze, but otherwise nothing happened... The instrument is great, I just need time for play... :-)

    Hi Filip, awesome work man, i just got FA 06, could please tell me if it has an accompanist function wherein you would just press chords when a rhythm pattern is playing and music in the background changes accordingly. Thanks!!

      +Gagandeep Singh Thank You very much. Yes FA-06 can play in this way: 1/ You can switch on the rhythm automat (with 5 different phrases, which you can switch between each other in one preset), 2/ There is arpeggiator for one of your tracks you have just selected (which could be setup in many ways and use also your user arp, which can be derived from part of song track - same for rhythm arp), and 3/ You can play live up to all rest of free tracks at once, which can be splitted or layered absolutely freely you want... :-) Enjoy this awesome machine...

      @filipgruner4255  Před 7 lety +1

      I think, the keys are good for me. OK, if I will go to musicshop and try some expensive machines, it will look a bit softer and cheaper, but If you have only FA-06 at home, it's nice to play really. It has no aftertouch, but for me it's not neccessary too... :-) But I play as I play... :-)

    Can you spread samples across the keys like a legit sampler, or are you limited to the pads for samples?

    • @filipgruner4255
      @filipgruner4255  Před 6 lety

      Hi Winston, :-) Yes, it's possible to use 4 banks of 16 pads (samples) and I think on channel 16 is possible to play them by keys. But I never try this... Here I use pads just for changing the tracks... No any external samples used here. Nice day! F.

    • @bobdole8324
      @bobdole8324 Před 6 lety

      Filip Grüner ok thanks. I guess I want to know if you can have a single sample and pitch bend it so C plays the original pitch, and playing c# would play a semitone higher... And so on

    • @filipgruner4255
      @filipgruner4255  Před 6 lety

      FA-06 is not classic sampler, I think, you have to change a pitch of every note manually or record each sample for every key in correct pitch. You also can't use the FA-06 synth engine for samples. I think is better to use FA-06 as sample player, for rhythm, effects, etc. with samples prepared externally.

    • @bobdole8324
      @bobdole8324 Před 6 lety +1

      Filip Grüner thanks again! Exactly what I was wondering. I guess there is always the midi jack to run another sampler. Too bad the old groove boxes could mangle samples and this can't. I like your performance! Keep up the good work!

      Hi, Jupiter 80 is wonderfull instrument, but costs nearly 3 times the FA-06. :-)
      FA-06 is better - if you don't want invest such money, the Jupiter 80 is better - if you like to have a great piece of HW synth... For me the FA-06 was choice of best I can get for my cash... :-) I think the possibilities of FA-06 are more than I can even reach, so with Jupiter 80 you will be stucked in possibilities of programing even more! :-) Cheers wish you good choice!

    • @filipgruner4255
      @filipgruner4255  Před 9 lety

      sanil simon I'm not using external MP3 during my play, I also don't use the "sampler" in FA-06. (It's not a regular sampler as in Fantom X or G, just can record the external audio, and with some basic editing you can put the sample under the 16 pads in 4 banks) It can't transpose or change tempo of external MP3 audio. I use only internal sounds and arpeggios in this session...

    • @filipgruner4255
      @filipgruner4255  Před 7 lety +2

      ...It just needs a time... Don't judge yourself, everything is just question of comparing. Don't compare, play a single tone, put it into a delay and just play with rhythmic variations in space... Music is not about complications or how quick are your fingers... Nice single chords of spacious pads + few simple tones of nice piano in delay makes a wonderfull mood... FA-06 can play far better in other hands then mine, but that's not about it... If you listen my first song from Kawai K1 recorded in 1993 on tape recorder Revox using mono pingpong method, you will probably die... Me too... :-D Just play, don't compare, FA-08 which You have, is wonderfull intrument and can be nice toy for anyone, not only for music professionals... ;-) Keep playing FA-08! Cheers! :-)

      +sanil simon Thanks. :-) If I understood well the question, are You asking on the sampler section? I think the transposing of samples is not possible, that's not regular sampler, it's more sample pad player by my meaning... Not as classic Fantom X or Fantom G sample function... I use the pads for changing the tracks in sequencer, or mute / unmute tracks, sometimes I play sample drum loops from pads.

    Problem of such tools: it gives you the illusion you can play music. You have fun for 20 mn and then you enter into a tunnel out of which you cannot get out. Same sound, same effects, same arpegio. Just like the 4 walls of a wide room...getting closer one from the opposite one. And the end you are empty with a sort of depressive feeling.
    Such tools can be interesting for those who can really play on an instrument but if you can' t do that you are lost in the universe.
    Too nice to be true.

      Whole world is illusion... :-) Your happiness doesn't depence on which level you can play piano... You make your happiness inside you. If you start to compare with outer world, that's the way to hell... Play just one tone or simple chords after you wake up in the morning, it will sound amazing! Why? Cause you have still clear mind... After whole day of recording music, these simple chords in the evening sounds too poor... That's the "point", I think... ;-)

    • @CaptJimDavis
      @CaptJimDavis Před 6 lety +1

      You are right Filip... Whole world is an illusion... Don't worry about not being a virtuoso on piano... In all honesty I love to listen someone playing a piece from Rachmaninov, or Tchaikovsky or Schubert on a Steinway piano and it makes me realize how beautiful the world we live in is... But people play synthesizers with the sounds/tunes like you were playing here reminds me how majestic and magical the whole universe is... This kind of electronic music takes me away from the physical world we live in on a daily basis. and in order to dream you do not need piano lessons. Sometimes I honestly don't understand those people post videos of themselves playing piano tunes on a synthesizer or an arranger type of keyboard.. To me it is a out of purpose. Like having a Ferrari to commute to work. Just keep expressing your inner self with the sounds and rhythms. That's all about it! I liked it... Good job!
