      You do realize that that really is no surprise, right? Because the judge in North Carolina is going to do exactly what the judge in Florida just did but it'll be in favor of the ACC continuing their lawsuit against FSU. It's really just tit for tat at the moment but ultimately FSU will have to pay a large sum to get out of the ACC. That's what's going to happen, and they will be out of the ACC but not for a minimum amount like some of you are thinking.

    Texas Tech alum here. As I am watching the current situation with the ACC, and looking back on what happened with the PAC, I am struck by how similar they are. You have fans of both conferences who are (were) thrilled because they know they have a landing spot in one of the two conferences everyone wants to be in. Then you have fans of schools who think they deserve a seat in them, and are vehemently against joining the Big 12. Last, you have fans who are sitting back wishing, and hoping, that none of this happens. Believe me, the same thing is quietly happening in the Big 12. However, the huge difference between the Big 12, and any other conference? We have been on our “death bed” at different times, for over a dozen years. We have somehow managed to survive. Who knows how long that will last, but to those fans who might be left behind, we understand your pain, and would welcome those schools who might get an invite.
    As a side note, I hope NC State joins the Big 12 because a Tech player was seriously injured during a game a couple of years ago, and he was treated very, very well by those at NC State.

    • @MercerKnowsBall
      @MercerKnowsBall Před 2 měsíci

      Wait until you see what happens with the Big 12 in 4 or 5 years. You won't just see something you think is SIMILAR. You will see the EXACT SAME THING with the Big 12 playing the Role of the PAC 12. But you will NEVER see the ACC get PAC 12'd. Mainly because of all the relevant FACTS you do not see in the ACC.

  • @abipey

    I think since the interview came out that one of the litigation attorneys who is helping Clemson and FSU. Is a retired attorney from NC who helped write the grant of right contracts and primary involved with ESPNU in Charlotte . A statement from a attorney not involved in this litigation made the most since, is why Josh might think the way he does.
    "You hire the architect to know the best way to tear the building down. You hire the attorney (who wrote the contract) to know the best way to tear up the contract".
    It's crazy to think this man retired less than 60 days before he contacted the schools or someone put a birdie in the schools ear about him. Almost makes you think if there was their bad blood with the new commissioner and certain attorneys. And now all of a sudden Ashley Moody has changed the verbiage in her litigation.

    It's not the UNC Board of Governors who is going decide for Carolina and State, it's the NC Legislature who owns both schools and funds them. That legislative body is loaded with NCSU and Duke alums who don't want those lucrative UNC rivalries to go away. They are worth tens of millions in just local tourist revenue to say nothing of the TV. Yes, Duke alum hold some of the purse strings here to billions of dollars funding the UNC System. The NC Leg is going to keep UNC in the ACC fold to preserve the Triangle rivalry games. They may let Carolina and State join the same new conference but that is less desirable option as Duke is left out.

      Nobody out side of North Carolina even knows that there’s a NC State. They’ve had decent success lately, but they’ve been irrelevant in almost every sport since their basketball success in the 1980s. The University of North Carolina, being the flagship school of the state, has national recognition and a well marketed brand. None of this is solely about football. UNC has been playing football for over 100 years. Is it the best? Nope, but a lot of the schools in the SEC and Big 10 are irrelevant in football.

      I doubt that ND would leave their independence for a conference. NBC television payout is enough to keep their status. Also, the Big teams will continue to schedule with ND.

      ND is contractually obligated to join the ACC if they go the conference route.
