- Finally after 4 months away from the game, I met up with some good friends Gav and Gez from @boyzinthewood1, who drove up from South Wales for Gav's 40th birthday for a weekend camp in the Lake District,
setting off with no real plans set in stone but plenty of options on the table, we headed to the North western fells.
Parking at Newlands House we ascended the short but steep ascent to the summit of High Snockrigg, This is a fell which most people ignore with it not being a Wainwright but I can assure you, caught on the right day you will find it hard to beat for a beautiful sunset over the iconic Buttermere.
With plenty of food, beer, amazing views and banter, why not join us for our first nights camp of an amazing weekend, poor yourself a beer, sit down and enjoy !!!

Wow. This is best camping day. Best location to pitch tent and have a wonderful views and landscapes and looks like sunsetting. You are overlooking those lakes. Interesting drone flights. Healthy meal you got. Very unique to celebrate birthday. Love the creativity

Bloody hell you got some canny weather mind, where's that been hiding and yes - it does look steep! That was amazing place to pitch the tents, the views were unreal and well worth waiting for. Talking about amazing that steak had mu mouth watering, I would have preferred mushrooms but not really complaining, especially with birthday cake for pudding, dry or not I was be more than happy! Not a bad morning to wake up too and agree on the jet boil, overrated, too bulky and far too much brass but have to say, a pub dinner sounds awesome, cheers Alan

It was a short but steep slog up there, I really struggled to be honest, especially with the bag it was over 30kg…
Well worth it though, and just good to be back out

The food is one of the best parts of the camp for me, especially in the warmer months when my bag is lighter, you can be a bit more adventurous with your food …
Them clouds creeping in ruined my senset though 😂😂

Really good video, Alan. As you said, High Snockrigg is largely bypassed, but it really does have some of the best views of Buttermere you will find. I was up there a few weeks ago, but didn’t get the good conditions you had. Your drone footage is excellent, it gives such a great perspective - and I love that effect at 9:20. That was a really nice touch with the birthday cake. I’m with Gez on the Jetboil - way too bulky for me - it’s enormous! 16:15! I thought my pack was big and heavy - yours looks like torture! Really enjoyed this one. Keep ‘em coming!
hiya Mal, High Snockrigg is one of my fav camping spots, although more people are starting to notice it,
the drone definitely gives you the views you just cant get any other way, I couldn't let a man go without cake on his birthday now could I lol
my bag is stupidly heavy, my. main goal this summer is to get the weight down

@54 Degrees North The fun thing is of course the water running under the snow....one moment you are hiking along happy as a fox in a henhouse and the next moment you have snow up to your thighs and cold water running around your boots and quickly into them....

Hi Mick, cheers mate, the plan was to go up onto Robinson on the second night but we changed and went over onto Rannerdale Knots,
ive had I eye on pitching on High Snockrigg for a while, was gutted when we got there and Paul was already pitched, still a decent pitch though just off the summit,

I know you must have small and light tents, but how do you fit in them? 😁
Haha tents are of decent size mate but they are lightweight, I think mine which is a two man tent weighs 1.5kg
