    Nice review. Bought the WiFI at Costco in the US for $119. BT connectivity is improved. Pairs instantly each time with the latest firmware. WiFi is useful with Airplay and using it with the Alexa ecosystem. Really wish it had a mic to use as a smart speaker and phone calls.
    One big plus of using WiFi over BT is the latency is a lot less. I also noticed it sounded better after I used it for a few hours. I don't know if it needed any break in or burn in but it is definitely sounding better. The 3 band EQ is also very handy and better than nothing especially since Apple doesn't let you tweak anything on the phone.
    After first buying it I was a little disappointed in it bu that more I've used it , I've realized I am going to keep it. I'd like a bit more bass but in this form factor it is to be expected and I don't want to have something much bigger to tote around. I found a nice bike mount and I am using it when I ride. I found a silicone sleeve with a handle for the normal Charge 5 that works and I can attach a strap as well and this works pretty well but the strap is junk so I bought a better one.
    At the current Costco price is it absolutely worth it. I am going back to buy another today and pair them in stereo.

      Hi, thanks for your feedback, my voice is recorded through a condenser mic which meant to record full spectrum including any lows (bass) this may sound distorted if you are listening to it on a phone or earphones that can't handle bass, check it on proper speakers and you will notice there is no distortion. You missed the whole point to have the wifi connection. You can actually use it to stream music from your phone or PC without annoying anyone with the sound of your phone when you use it simultaneously to scroll, send messages or receive calls. Is this worth the price gap and the loss of party boost? It depends on what you want to do with it. The base charge 5 is basically an external speaker for a phone, and I don't want my speaker to emplify every sound my phone make, only what I want.

    for me i got the charge 5, originally i was going to get the ultimate ears megaboom 3 but it never wanted to ship from amazon for some reason, they said they were in stock but the sellers dint wanna take the money or ship it. keep in mind i ordered on the 1st and it was 20 days later it still dint ship and money money got taken out so i decided you know what cancel order and i went to walmart and seen then had charge 5 and pulse 5 and one of the flips i assume 6 but of course i did my home work on JBL ones so i knew what each one did and so i went with the charge 5. i plan on getting a case for it so i can hook it to a key chain and carry it with me and if its too annoying and bulky i can always get a clip 4 or whatever and use that. i will say i hate every single video review of speakers because on soundbars or computer speakers they never sound right. does not help that most music is pop hip hop elector type of music and pianos and trumpets and guitars would work way better for speaker test because you would hear the definition of highs and mids better if you hear it from guitars or pianos. for the moment i will say the charge 5 has amazing quality as it is i wont ever need to get the wifi because well it would be a waste. honestly i dont even turn my charge 5 up all the way because its too loud, if i knew it was this would i probably would have settled for the flip 6 but when i watched the reviews you could hear the flip 6 lacked the warm mids and highs the charge 5 has so it was a no brainer. i mean i can see some people liking the flip 6 but if i want a portable speaker like that i would get the clip 4 or whatever one is currently out in 2023 near october. i dont know to me if the charge 5 is too bulky again id rather just keep it as a home speaker and use a cliip for outdoor use. pulse 5 is for someone out there but not for me unless it had a 18 hour battery life on full volume and brightness which will never happen, but i did my homework so i knew the charge 5 would have higher volume and better battery and is a more trusting water proof, just in cause when i take it in the bathroom to keep on the toilet to run while i shower i dont have to worry about steam ruining the speaker (i think) and well it can fill up the entire bathroom on 50% volume and you can feel the music everywhere. so yeah thats pretty much my thoughts and experiences.

      Thanks for your feedback, another person mentioned this, there is nothing wrong with the mic, I was a little too close to it and it picked up my voice with a little bit of bass, when I listened back to it on my speakers it sounded great unfortunately this hasn't worked great on phones with small speakers and earphones, try to listen to it on your desktop speakers and report back please, that said I'll remember next time to test it on phones first. Cheers.

    Dude, tf lmao, 13:26 the wifi bit should be a Pro, because when your jbl is connected to the wifi the device you connect to the jbl speaker via wifi, the speaker could be anywere in the house with that same wifi connection point, and also the speaker has dual bluetooth connecton points/ports, you can have 2 diffrent devices connected at once, sure the 2 diffrent deivce thing is almost useless, but the wifi thing SHOULD be a PRO.

    Literally nothing convinces me to get a Charge 5 Wi-Fi. Will never use Wi-Fi on a speaker to begin with, and yeah okay it has a bigger battery and better Bluetooth, that's no big deal to me. Biggest drawback if the specs are anything to go by, it takes 4 hours to charge the regular Charge 5 from a dead battery, and it takes 6 hours on the Wi-Fi. WHAT!!!!!???????? I think I'll just stick to the regular Charge 5.

  • @jathenmccollum6043
    @jathenmccollum6043 Před 10 měsíci +1

    This speaker sucks. You can’t disable auto turn off. When it cuts off it doesn’t auto wake up. So you have to physically go to the speaker and turn it on every time you want to use it.
    Why would you connect multiple speakers together that will auto turn off and have to be manually turned on every time you decide to listen to music.
    You cannot connect any audio cable. The usb ports are power ports only. There is no way to connect a sound cable. Some reviews and websites are misleading. Do not buy this speaker it sounds good but has no functionality.
