It's good to see videos when guys talk about the difference between the ZX12 and the Hayabusa. I have owned both of those bikes actually I still own my ZX12 there are quite a few differences the first generation ZX12 has pretty aggressive stock camshaft both intake exhaust a little bit more duration shorter stroke with the crankshaft and larger bores with the Pistons stock Kawasaki designed it to make most of its power way up top of the Rev range that explains the top end advantage assuming both bikes are stock motors. But believe it or not the Hayabusa actually has an aerodynamic advantage I've looked at the coefficient of drag numbers and the Hayabusa is superior however the Hayabusa makes most of its power from low end to the mid top range and that's right where the Kawasaki starts getting fast. I love both bikes but the fact that I have does ZX12 20 years later tells you my opinion
You sound like a zx12 scholar, idk about the aerodynamic of the hayabusa being superior though. The zx 12’s windshield is twice as big and the gas shell is lower and flat.
@@gofastnocrash3651 well thanks but I'm not a scholar but those bikes from the very beginning was my generation I have to look and see if I can find the article where they determined the coefficient of drag on both of the bikes however without the mirrors on the ZX 12 and the normal power Commander pipe and air filter and a sprocket change I believe the ZX 12 ended up doing 193.2 mph stock something like that ended up being at least one mile per hour faster than the Hayabusa set up and modified exactly the same
Well, I'm 47 years old and have been riding since I was 19. I was around and riding during the top speed wars of the late 90's. I also have three Suzuki's currently sitting in my garage, one if which is a Hayabusa.. I have also owned several Kawasaki's over the years including two ZX-12's. I completely agree, in stock form, the ZX-12 is faster than the Gen 1 Busa. The ZX-12 also made more horsepower than the Gen 1 Busa, that's a fact. Lol, I've been arguing this for years. Both bikes being completely stock, the Gen 2 Busa is a better challenger for the ZX-12. Suzuki was just VERY VERY good at hyping up the Busa. Like I said, all I own are Suzuki's and both my drag bikes are Suzuki. One is a Hayabusa and one is a GSXR 1000....but facts are facts.

After having owned both bikes I can say that the 12R is the faster bike, the Hayabusa is extremely aerodynamic, hence it's design... Just the ZX12R has more power, especially on the top end due to the ram intake. The Hayabusa is so slippery at high speeds which is what allowed it to reach 194mph. My ZX12R had a full Akrapovic system, tuned, filters and 18/47 gearing I hit 204mph flat out, no more. It was more of an animal compared to my Hayabusa which was very civilized if I'm honest. The Hayabusa with stock gearing and same mods + airbox mod hit a top speed of 201.4 mph. Either way, they were the best bikes of a very awesome era (pre 2010)
I also have a gsxr 1000. I was talking smack to The guy that owned the 12 before me. I topped out my gsxr and when he came around me it sounded like a jet. I still haven’t gotten on the zx12 super hard. I rarely like to get in the super high digits.

Once you start working on the hayabusa motor the zx12 won't keep up. You can really go big on the hayabusa motor. But stock for stock the zx12 on the top end.
the 14 officially became the worlds fastest production motorcycle when launched back in 2006 - and improved again further in 2008 and again in 2012. The point is, the older and less refined 12r was researched and developed prior to the launch of the busa in 99 and it just didnt quite have what it took to hold the crown. Kwaka went back to the drawing board and regained the official world fastest production title in '06
We’re talking stock for stock top speed. There’s no unrestricted zx14. I’m talking about hitting the rev limiter in 6th gear, on a top speed race. Not the quarter mile.
What’s good Go fast No crash! The Busa is definitely more aerodynamic than the ZX12. I’ve seen some fast 12’s back in the day but for some reason everybody has a Busa Killa, not a 12 or 14 Killa. I’m just saying 🤣🤣
I stopped watching just a little bit after you said the Busa "has zero aerodynamics" (all while running your ZX12 with half of the plastic removed). Then you got into the compression ratio and I just couldn't do it anymore.😂 I love the ZX12R's but they have worse Aerodynamics than a Busa. The Busa is probably the most aerodynamic production bike ever made.
Zx12’s have a flat gas tank and way bigger windscreen then a busa. In a straight line on a day with no wind a 12 has superior aerodynamics. We can talk all that science stuff but, a busa only has the aerodynamic advantage on a windy day.

I like Suzuki and Kawasaki, my daily rider is a gsxr 1000. The hayabusa community is pretty much like a cult though. They live and die by the busa.

Mine has a ported head, airshifter, pc5 (street tuned) , and down one tooth on the front sprocket.

Top end , the busa really can compete. The ram air on the 12 just funnels too much air. The faster it goes the more horse power it picks up.

Yeah, I was reading about that. Somewhere I read a stock zx12r has 178 horsepower, but at high speeds it changes to 190 because of the ram air intake.
