I have an idea for these types of dye projects...
Vinyl rain gutters. You could line them by cutting sections of a shower curtain or with plastic wrap. Prop one end of each gutter section up slightly so gravity can help you keep colors segregated.
Just an idea. This turned out great without.

You need to find an old school merrygoround (the death machine type) to use as a swift.

Rebecca, I've had success in winding off an extra long skein by using two swifts, next to each other, with the skein stretched over them both. It works really well and is much quicker than winding it off onto a niddy-noddy. Love your videos, and thank you for the time and effort you put into them.

OMG I HAVE TWO SWIFTS!!! I still would likely need to wind onto a niddy noddy to get a skein to deliver to a customer (vs winding into a ball), but this maybe would turn like a single swift? Oh oh oh. I'm not sure where I can secure them to be long enough without them tipping, but clearly I'm excited to try this out.

@@ChemKnitsTutorials So long as you get the two swifts at roughly the same height they turn as one, in my experience, but you do need to give them a bit of help to get them going. I fixed one to the kitchen counter, and the other to the kitchen table, and it worked fine.

from Gerry- Your stripe dying was much more orderly than mine. I have only kettle dyed the stripes and it works well, but takes a long time. The plastic containers were genius. Thanks for all you do to educate us. God bless.

The stripes are nifty and striped yarn is definitely one of my favourite things to crochet with, but that yarn mop turned out kinda galaxy themed and I'm so there for it :)

Just had a thought, not sure if it would even work, but two swifts working like cogs with a belt or cat-tracks on a tank to accommodate the extra length?

🔥🔥you have inspired me to attempt self striping yarn. I have a QUESTION?? What would happen if you put the dye in the cups you used for steaming and dyed it that way? I really enjoy the videos and your bubbly personality is infectious. ❤😊

You could absolutely do it this way! I've done things like this (in glass jars vs these cups) in previous self striping videos - there should be a playlist on the channel. I just wanted to do a different way from what I've shown before. :D

Have you ever tried using ghost peppers and other peppers to dye yarn. They are acidic? Just a thought.

I'm scared to cut jalapenos! (I wear gloves when I cut them. my roommate once got jalapeno oil in her eye and I will never forget helping her through that pain)
