    This was SO good! I love how you broke everything down and made it so easy to understand and remember everything. The best explanation on De Quervain's I've heard yet. Not even my professors were able to explain it this well! Thank you OT MIRI!! LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

    I’ve been watching these videos as I make my notes for all the different hand injuries. Your explanations are easy to follow, the examples relate directly to functional problems, none of my professors (or even classmates that were strong in this area) have been able to break it down like this! Thanks for making this area, which I used to avoid, fun for me to review! Hope your holidays are relaxing!

    Hi Miri, I know it's been awhile, but as a mother of two, who shared the same syndrome as you, I would like to offer the idea of environmental adaptation. There are breastfeeding pillows that release the need to constantly hold the baby in a static posture. It's also help with the shoulder and back pain, that sometimes come along. Thank you for another amazing video.

      You are so sweet. Thank you for sharing your tips and knowledge, but more so, your care and concern. I was smiling ear to ear while going through your comments in this video as well as the one you left on my SCI video. We may have never met, but I felt so connected to you. So thank you for taking a moment to connect with me and share your heart and support!

      @@MiriLee aww, you replied back...you're welcome! You deserved to be recognized. I just like how you explain things... sounds like very kind.👍☺ I don't know if you are practicing it already as a teacher or an instructor but basically you already are, by doing these videos.👍😃
      I came across your videos because obviously, I think I am having this issue as well...badly!😔 I just gave birth about almost 4 mos. ago. It's been acting up for about 2 mos. now. I am afraid because obviously, I depend on my hands to take care of my little one. I feel like one false move, it could fracture or dislocate my hand and it has a sharp, shooting pain. I couldn't even take a firm grip anymore like basic stuff such as twisting the doorknob or opening a jar. I did some home remedy like ice pack for inflammation, some lidocaine patches or lotion, some hand exercises that I got here watching some videos for that syndrome, it gave me temporary relief but it's still here.😔 Just a little back story, I think I have an existing condition on my right arm/wrist because it gives me some kind of nerve pain since I do officework and that requires a lot of typing and writing. I feel like it's carpal tunnel syndrome. I guess that kind of tore up some "joint" in my wrist after giving birth due to overuse. I haven't really had it check but I will soon. Oh well...😔

    A great piece. I love watching you. But, I disagree with you about treatment. I'm a bodyworker (shiatsu/Rolfing). I've treated successfully, de Quervain's Syndrome!!! Why not do some basic reconditioning of the forearm muscles and tendons along with the stretching and exercises you mention? There really is no need for any other intervention.

    • @MiriLee
      @MiriLee  Před 4 lety +4

      Hello! Thank you for your feedback. I’m happy to know you’ve enjoyed my videos - thank you for being here! The beauty of having many disciplines is the different perspectives, skills and insights we gain from one another and it makes me very happy to hear your perspective as a shiatsu/rolfing bodyworker (which by the way, I love and would love to learn more about!!) It’s really wonderful that you’ve been able to treat de Quervain’s syndrome successfully in your practice through reconditioning and gentle stretching and exercises. This is why we do what we do and your patients are lucky to have you! This sort of early intervention and conservative treatment is ideal and I too opted for conservative treatment. Every patient, however, is unique and presents with varying levels of severity, at which point I do think medical intervention may be considered. There’s a body of literature and research that point to efficacy when it comes to these medical interventions and while these are used as last resort, I do think these options are important for practitioners to know and communicate to patients when working with those who are experiencing chronic pain and limited hand function as a result of unmitigated wrist pain that do not respond to conservative treatment. But hey, if we can get that pain in check before an injection or incision, I'm all for it! So please keep doing the great work you're doing so new moms like me can enjoy these babies without so much pain! Hope you had a great thanksgiving break. Sending much love to you.

      @@MiriLee Unfortunately there just isn't enough research being done on manual therapy and the treatment of common or not so common conditions. But my experience has been that unless something is broken, torn or completely worn away...it's fixable without the injections or surgery. Truly, the hard part is finding a skilled therapist. Anyway, if we were closer I'd take you on myself but I'm writing to you from sunny Greece so, best of luck with all your endeavors including your musculoskeletal ones.
