    InnerFidelity you can't say they "cheaped out" in terms of build quality and accessories. with the amount of leather used (from the headband to the earpads, case etc) and the solid aluminum throughout the entire headphone. This seems like a worthwhile purchase at $399, something i didn't think i would say too often! those cables look a tad long (like the vmoda cables well) which does the same thing as you stated (causes interference when wearing a thick coat, in the cold winter months). we need some short jacks!

    Looking at a contrast purchase to my AKG Q701's which I purchased for gaming. Need more life added to the low and lower midrange of my music and was set on the X1 or X2 after your reviews on those. But these seem like another option if I decide to go closed and lose the advantages of an open headphone while gaming. Which would you recommend?

    Hi innerfidelity. how come you dont own any pair of headphones by Bang & Olufsen? for a audiophile like you, i am surprised. i have heard a lot of good things about their headphones. will you be reviewing the h6 or h8 in the future?

    • @justina9914
      @justina9914 Před 3 lety

      Bang and olufsen is not an audiophile brand. Its a consumer brand. Audiophile brands are and are not limited to sennheiser, hifiman, audeze, 1more, Philips, final, focal etc

    What I've found about microphone... It's much more sensitive with noise around in comparing with Sony MDR-1A.
    So, when you will use it for talks people will listen your neighbors.
    I like bass MH40 in comparing mentioned Sony MDR-1A.
    In the rest, for me, they are comparable.
    And I do like cable and idea about an ability to connect another headphones.

    I listened to these in a shop in San Francisco but they were attached to a very large and good tube amp and sounded amazing but I don't know how they sound on their own... I have ath m50xs and want to know whether they are worth the upgrade

    • @jdstarek
      @jdstarek Před 8 lety

      Lol, upgrade is a gross understatement.

    • @jawtek82
      @jawtek82 Před 8 lety +2

      I own both of these and more than a dozen others. Yes they are an upgrade. But I would not call that a "gross understatement." The ATH-M50X does not suck. Many/most folks would be very happy with the ATH-M50X.

    • @jdstarek
      @jdstarek Před 8 lety +1

      +jawtek82 I guess I'm just not a fan of ATs.

    • @jawtek82
      @jawtek82 Před 8 lety +5

      +jason stark I can understand that. The ATH-50X and these MH40s are VERY different headphones. The ATH-50x are analytical and have a pretty flat response. So if someone does not like that, they are not going to like those headphones. The MH40s are warmer sounding with an elevated bass response in particular, and probably closer to what most folks like these days. I think the ATH-50X is pretty good for what it is (there are certainly better headphones in that vein - e.g., the OPPO PM-3), especially at its price point. I think the MH40 is better for what it is - not aware of anything better for a "sweetened" sound at anywhere near its price point.
      All I am saying is that if you look around at the headphones that 90% of folks are using, either of these is going to be a significant improvement in sound quality.

    why the hell did you buy them if you have so many problems with them

  • @Mainrollman
    @Mainrollman Před 8 lety +6

    These sound absolutely incredible, the build quality is second to none and they are a beautiful headphone with great accessories (cables are nice as is the storage pouch). The $400 price for this headphone is excellent for the build quality and sound, and you're getting what you pay for. I owned a pair (gunmetal and black) for approximately 2 weeks. I immensely enjoyed the sound, but sadly I found them to be very uncomfortable. The headband hurt the top of my head, and while the lambskin covers on the ear pads are exquisite, I found the density of the memory foam of the ear pads to be to hard. That along with their clamping force made them unbearable to wear for more than 15 minutes. While the MH40 didn't work for me, some people may find them very comfortable and love them. Master & Dynamic is a first rate company and offer a 2 year warranty on all their products and a 30 day return policy. I returned mine and was immediately refunded the full purchase price. They sound so wonderful, and I say give them a listen because they may work for you.

      The MDR-7506 and HD 280 is better in every way. They are better than the NAD Viso HP50, though

    • @jawtek82
      @jawtek82 Před 8 lety +5

      I think most consumers would disagree. They are not looking for flat-response studio monitors which is what the MDR-7506 and HD 280 are.

    • @jawtek82
      @jawtek82 Před 7 lety

      +Marcos .c - I am unusual in that my nerves don't work well and I don't feel things, so I can wear any of these for hours with no discomfort. So for me, the answer is the MH40. But they might be too heavy for some folks to wear for many hours. So I will give two answers . . . best sound with a "lot of comfort" would be the PSB M4U 1. Most comfortable with "pretty decent" sound would be Sony MDR1A which are real featherweights. I own all of these . . . and way too many more.
