I can’t help chuckling and feeling joyful when you start bailing again 😉 Jaclyn seems like the perfect person to immerse you still further in the Saskatoon literary community!

Linked dystopian/sci-fi short stories that also have a hopeful element? How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu! And another of Emily St. John Mandel's books, Sea of Tranquility (I also loved Station Eleven). Or The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson.

Sooner or Later Everything Falls into the Sea by Sara Pinsker is a really good collection of dystopian scifi. I remember them feeling connected, but don't remember for sure.

I hope you enjoy Fire Exit as much as I did! Love your shirt, too.

I agree with your mystery guest. Station Eleven is a fantastic book, and I recommend it highly. I was also disappointed in Blackouts. Thank you for another great video!

Shawn, I can’t wait for you to read Soldier Sailor. I can’t praise it enough 😊 I almost whooped out loud when you lifted it up 🎉

It’s nice to see you so excited about your reading! I am very much looking forward to starting Blue Postcards in a few days. And I’m on the library waiting list for Morgan Talty’s latest. 📚

It's interesting to hear why you bail on books--it's something I've only recently given myself permission to do. It's that English major "it must be that I'm too dense to get it" feeling. And you're right, there's a real energy that comes from saying "not for me"!

I am also wondering why Jones has not published anything in 15 years. He has disappeared from the literary scene. Sad and puzzling.

I cant imagine Blackouts working as an audiobook. I really liked it. I buddy read All Aunt Hagar’s Children and found so many to be excellent. Did we buddy read his other collection? My brain isn’t what it used to be. I thought A Son at the Front was good if a bit unusual.

Five Ways To Forgiveness by Ursula K. Le Guin

Shawn - I’m always wondering what show/movie your opening clip is from? The older boy reminds me of a Twilight Zone character from an episode in the 1960’s.
