  • The $2.75 million Cirrus Vision Jet G2, for second-generation, remains in a class by itself because it's the only certified single-engine turbofan-powered personal airplane, and it has the Cirrus CAPS whole-airplane parachute. For 2020, the Vision Jet has a few sizable changes including RVSM compliance for a 31,000-foot operating ceiling, increased payload, a 1200-mile max range, Safe Return Emergency Autoland (which is currently being certified and to be standard equipment), plus autothrottle. In this video Aviation Consumer Editor Larry Anglisano takes a close look at the Vision Jet G2 with Cirrus' Matt Bergwall. Read the full report in the January 2019 Aviation Consumer magazine.

      Although it may not meet your needs, it does have some unique features, that are not available (to my knowledge) on any turbo prop. BRS (like them or not), they are a USP for Cirrus aircraft. Add the latest flight control electronics that can auto land the aircraft (initiated by a passenger), in case of an incapacitated pilot. The closest aircraft I can think of that has such an easy starting system is the PC12 (latest version), although that is a lot more expensive and larger.

    I guess one of my objections to the Vision Jet is the Vee Tail similar to the old Bonanzas. The Bonanzas suffered from fish tailing and often made rear passengers air sick after a time. I assume this is the same problem with the Vision Jet although perhaps a good yaw damper might help. The sound level still seems a bit loud with the engine placement atop the Fuselage. Not sure I would be a candidate for a Vison Jet purchase. I guess I would need a flight test to be sure.

    • @AVweb

      Not an issue in this airplane. It has yaw stability augmentation, and the autopilot's yaw servo automatically engages on the initial climb. No tail wag.

  • @videosuperhighway7655
    @videosuperhighway7655 Před 3 lety

    The real costs will be fuel costs, hangar costs, maintenance etc… you need to earn about 2M a year with 5-10M in liquid net assets in order to own one. Otherwise it makes more sense to use something like netjets card etc.. and just pay per use.
    What this jet will do is open up private jet travel to more people since it will make fractional use more affordable.
    60 gallons an hour is impressive nice cut in fuel expense.

I'd consider a Citation Mustang and upgrade the G1000 to NXi before I bought this turkey. It flys faster and higher with more room and seats inside plus a Lav and twin engine redundancy and would cost over a million dollars less. No contest.

    • @AVweb
      @AVweb  Před 4 lety +6

      Negative. The B-roll you saw was lagged a touch with the actual standup audio, and the frame shows the aircraft's speed just after level-off from the long climb. When the autopilot trimmed it and the airplane settled into cruise, it made 303 true.

      @NonyaBusiness! If you have the cash..... That's the thing. If you pony up close to 3 million dollars for a plane (including taxes and sales commissions) a few hundred dollars an hour is nothing. Keep in mind the million-plus you save buying used. Those savings will easily buy many thousands of gallons of JetA with very generous amounts left over for a paint job and an overhaul or two. Look at many of the used small jets for sale and you'll notice that few have any significant hours on them. You are looking at toys for the wealthy who become bored or no longer willing to invest time into remaining current and move on to the next adventure. Remember, there are a lot of people who can purchase these things with no more financial strain that you would have buying a Happy Meal.

      @@Xperim... if you do some research the eclipse alot of negatives. The theory of the airframe and ownership mision is great but in reality their production is limited by lack of funds, they have two projects (kestrel turboprop and eclipse canada) that have been on the books for years and neither have shown much progress, again due to lack of money. The company is basically seen as on the verge on bankruptcy most the time by many in the industry. As for the current or older aircraft they have a history of issues including the avidyne avionics suite being tempermental to say the least.

    While, the young lady in the back is only doing as instructed........ What a Joke !! You need a much better system to hold the camera steady other than someone with a cell phone held at arms length. LOL. Try a short tripod that can be set up on the floor of the back seat area. Other than comedy central from the back, an informative video. And for the young lady in the back... Post your resume, you need a better job.

    Ugly plane. Ugly cabin. Stratos, Diamond D ducted engine look so much better.
    Eclipse 400 and Epic Victory look better
    Piper Jet looks worse.

      RIP to Kobe, Gianna and all the other people who passed on that day. But this wouldn't have worked for Kobe, because he needed the helicopter to be able to take off and land anywhere like his backyard, daughters gym, his doctor's office the bank etc... You can't do that with a jet.
