i’m french and in high school we had this exchange in my english class with german students, they came to or high school (but we never went to germany bc we were supposed to go by plane and there were strikes and our flight was cancelled 🤡). since it was an english class exchange, we were supposed to speak in english and there were only 5 students in my class who took german in school, everyone else was studying either italian or spanish. one day during that exchange week, we had a group work to do where we had to make everyone discover a song in either french or german, and one group chose this song and everyone started singing with them, including students who didn’t speak a word of german. and the sight of 60 high schoolers screaming schni schna schnappi at the top of their lungs in the middle of a high school library is i think a beautiful display of cultural diversity and still one of the most interesting sight i witnessed in my life. that is schnappi’s power. schnappi brings nations together. all hail schnappi.

Despite his many, many flaws, I’ll always be thankful with him for introducing me to Schnappy.
