I love books but video games where the player's choices directly impact the story hold a special place in my heart. I love feeling like I'm part of the story
I completely agree ☺️
You should try out Rouge Trader. It's set in the 40k universe.
Books make the best stories for me, hands down. So many times I think movies have ruined the story the book told, or at least didn’t do it justice. There have been only a handful of movies I liked as well as the book. And I can’t think of any movie I liked better than the book. I always enjoy your videos and get great recommendations from you, so thank you for that. Have a great weekend!
A great weekend to you too! 😊
@@ebnovelsI like your hair ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gideon is such a jock, a true himbo. I love her. 😂
She really is 😂
Regarding the medium of storytelling, books and plays usually have a lot to offer and almost always make me feel and think, staying with me for a very long time. TV series have a lot of screentime to develop characters and relationships, so I often get attached to them. Movies, however, most often disappoint me personally and leave no lasting impression on me for some reason. I have not read/seen enough graphic novels, manga and anime to form an informed opinion on them :)
You are my favorite booktuber. It is just like chatting to a friend about books. ❤❤
I agree that books have a unique power to convey compelling storytelling and deep emotions. However, it's a bit unfair to compare them directly to movies… Books have the advantage of tapping into each reader's imagination, allowing for limitless creativity (the ultimate creative freedom-no studio notes, no budget or time constraints, cast whoever you want, visualize every scene as you wish, and of course the best cgi! 😅)
Ultimately, books are often the work of a single author, whereas movies require the combined efforts of many talented individuals, each contributing their own vision and creativity to bring the story to life.
So i wouldn’t say it’s fair to compare mediums, they are just different ways to experience a story.
I love Kiki's Delivery Service, both the book and the movie. Princess Mononoke was my first Ghibli movie and I have such a soft spot for it. It makes me so happy that you also loved it.
It is not conceited to have fun....even if it is just by yourself. 😊💖💖
Thank you so much for the great recommendations, I had no idea Dark Star Burning Ash Falls White had such a beautiful Illumicrate version! I have to ask, what's the name of your outro music? It's beautiful and I'd love to check out a longer version of it.
So glad you enjoyed Age of Madness so much! I read it before the first trilogy, which isn't recommended but i think made me enjoy the 1st trilogy more than i would have when i finally got to it. Without plot spoilers, the scene that blew me away most of all was the scene he describes over and over from different points of view (the scene with the cannon!), such a cool writing technique
Age of Madness is amazing. It actually reminds me of Engines of Empire, which I've read because of you and loved!
Ooh, you uploaded. **must watch right away** :)
Haha, ah, that’s very nice of you!
Gideon love this book and enjoy the main character too and wonderful writing ❣️🫶🏻❤️🩵❣️💚❣️🩵💛🪻💓💓📚📚📚🍄💗💖🌈📖🌼🧡💓🩷🪻🫶🏻📚📚💙🧡🪻🩷💓💜💚❣️❣️🫶🏻🩵❤️❤️🩵❣️💓🤎🤎
A chaque fois que la Juge apparait dans Age of Madness (i love The Judge. For me, it is the best work of Abercrombie), c'est de la folie. Merci pour la façon dont vous parlez, c'est très clair pour un français
I agree, I love Ashitaka
Have you read Sunbringer yet? 😍 I still need to read it but I loved Godkiller so much!
I have an e-arc of the rom-commers! I hope it’s good!
Are you going to read When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A Parker? It’s fantasy romance but I’m really enjoying the world & mystery so far
Great Video!
My favorite book of the year so far has to be the Hexologists by Josiah Bancroft. Strangely I think it was the first book I picked up this year. Now, as for the medium I think can best tell a story, I really love mini-series. I think they're a better way to adapt a book than a movie or show. Movies have to cut out too much for time, or change too much. Shows tend to drag on, if it gets good ratings, and they want more and more, but a mini-series? It's contained and focused, but still has a little room to breathe. I absolutely loved the Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell miniseries, it's given me a good base for reading the book. I just have to go back and finish it at some point!
Wow! So much on the same page with you! Just downloaded The Familiar (from library) myself. Also 100% agree about Age of Madness. At this point I've read everything (I think) that Abercrombie has written. In fact a very specific chapter at the end of Wisdom of Crowds actually made me cry--never felt so strongly about a character's fate before. Granted probably had a bunch of other emotional stuff going on at the time, but still. 😭
Never read Kiki's Delivery Service but saw the movie a couple years back. For some reason, the part at the end where Jiji stops talking really bothered me. WHYYY
I'd speculate that books just seem to make the best "story experience" because they have much more time to unfold details, develop character nuance and plot points. Also you're using your own imagination to fill in gaps or provide context or whatnot. With a movie or TV series, everything is already visualized for you. The only brain work you do is try to interpret or understand what's happening, what's up with motives, etc. Certainly I like TV and movies, but as for adaptations of books, they usually fall short and disappoint me because they don't match my expectation, or specific scenes/character dynamics I want to see play out (in a visual sense) are altered for whatever production reason.
a quick Bach partita would be nice...🎻🙂
mid year already?! oh man... time flies
I’m not happy about it 😂

Will you buy the new book by Joe Abercrombie - "The devils"? I know it's early to talk about it, but cover gives really huge expectations for something extremely dark.
I’ll definitely be checking it out 😄
I think TV shows have the greatest potential but books have always been my thing

Honestly..... Movies might be the greatest for me, worst unfortunately for me probably books. But I still take it all in 😂 I change my mind on this all the time
I wish you had included some of those abercrombie quotes in this video lol
Haha, I’m hoping to do a video soon about the trilogy :)
Hi.
I'm new to this channel. 👋
Well hello 👋🏻
I dnf Guns of the Dawn 🤷♀️
Books.
TV Series.
Movie.
In that order. I’m super picky with movies. I don’t enjoy a 2-3 hour story. (Maybe that’s why I hate romcom books so much).
I agree that movies tend to disappoint me the most, but for me it’s bc so many stories could be done SO WELL if they were just given a little more time and made into a mini series instead of a 2.5 hour movie (that is the longest acceptable run time for a single film ….idc what anyone says, movies should not be 3+ hours. Make a mini series. What are you doing)

@@ebnovels I've been dogging you about it in all your comment sections lol
One thing that stops me subscribing to booktubers is that they don’t give full trigger warning, do you think you could mention if the book has profanity, and how the consistency or inconsistency of it in the book?
Guns of the dawn was a great book and I understand you didn’t like it 💙🩵🍗🌼🩷🩷🧡🌈🌈🌈🪻🤎📙🐴🍄🤎🪻🧡💛💙🌼🩷💚🌻💜💓❣️🍄🤎📚📙📙📚📚📙📙📚📚📖📖📖💙🩷🩷💙🌻🪻🧡🌼💜🪻💛🩵🩵💛🪻🩵🩵💛🩷💚💓❣️❣️💚❤️❤️❤️❤️🫶🏻
