While the Frank Zappa Apostrophe (') LP had countless spins on Vinyl in my household, I vividly remember where this was one of two iconic FZ 70s rock friendly albums that all the kids in Middle Village could groove to. Apostrophe (') and The Mothers Of Invention Over-Nite Sensation are the hallmark of Zappa’s connection with early 70s rock and roll audiences. Dateline 1974, many youth on my block would hang out in one another’s swimming pools in the summer time. That and Ping Pong games that could give FZ with Bird Reynolds on his head and Phill Collins a Brand X of enthusiasm. I had a Hungarian friend Frank Nagy, Frank immediately connected with Apostrophe (') , he could frequently be heard yelling out “BUT I GOT A KRISTL BOL! “A few years before Middle Village and their regalia’s in Cosmic Debris it was more about G.I. Joe with life like hair diving off a 3 story clothes line into pools but these suckers on my block were finally hypnotized. I had spent years attempting them to hear my plea, surely they dug some things along the way but this was capturing them like a Billion Dollar Baby that could Smoke On The Water. After years of hearing my Mumbo Jumbo’s, Cosmic Debris with some Yellow Snow on the side, Great Google Moogly , these Middle Village kids were hooked.
I followed Zappa & the Mothers since 1967 when they moved to New York City’s Greenwich Village and had a six-month residency at the Garrick Theatre. Until this video, I never saw a TV Ad for a Mothers of Invention or a Zappa album. Thanks!
I just hope theres no Apostrophe box set - all the relevant sessions have been chronicled: spread across the Roxy, ONS, Hot Rats and 72 boxes, plus Crux Of The Biscuit. Also, I'm reminded that despite the ONS box set and Road Tapes, we still don't have a really musically representative "official" document of the Ponty era - I could design a beat-the-73-boots package for them (...well so could anyone!)
There is a Jean Luc Ponty album called King Kong, an album of all Zappa covers, featuring many of the mothers, and featuring 2 new Zappa compositions, rdnzl and low budget music for electric guitar and orchestra, from 1969 on blue note label....
@@DoctorInsomnia-qw7us RDNZL isn't on the King Kong album. All but one track is Zappa compositions, but not RDNZL. An early working of RDNZL with Ponty is on Lost Episodes.
"Look here robber! Who you jivin' with that cosmic debris? Is that a real poncho, Or is that a Sears poncho??" NO ONE writes lyrics like Frank!! Rest in Peace Brother!!🙏❤️🌈
Back when albums had cool, creative TV commercials. Love it.
I love how the announcer picks up the yellow snow, throws it, and proceeds to wiping his hand on the back of his head.
I think he just held the yellow snow behind his head before chucking it at the camera
Though I can see how it looks like he was rubbing his hair
CLASSIC!! 😁
Fire
Old times,i like that.
The best ever!!! No question!!!!!😎

Doesn't the two concerts from '73 in the ONS box count as an official document of Ponty-era Mothers?
