It's debatable whether there are any gains to be had by advancing spark timing on a stock stationary engine, but here's how to do it. Instagram: @instamadcvnt
Can't the flywheel be tightened down with honing extra smooth of upper crankshaft and lock washer added, and used at different timing spot, by not using flywheel key? I heard others are doing this. Cars have adjustable distributor for changing timing. Large nut on flywheel tightened very hard. Briggs is pre-set at TDC.
Lock washers aren't used with the flywheel nut. The engine spines in a direction that's always tightening the nuts. It's the same reason lock washers aren't used with the lug nuts on your car. washers
Im haveing issues with my predator, i got flat piston rod 330 cam rockers jetted carb with an light flywheel 32degrees. It turns on runs but right before it hits top speed it bogs. I switch to stock flywheel it runs good but issue with stock flywheel at top rpm it throws the magnet off broke my first block were coil sits. Any idea how to solve my issue?
Actually you’re right there’s a saying,Time for torque jet for horsepower but that only has to do with the fact that you’re dealing with one piston as opposed to 2,4,6,8 etc. cylinder engines
Uhh what if I told you that one of my go cart does not have a fly wheel, it's literally just the crankshaft with a cintrifigal clutch and then a chain to the wheels, the engine Is a honda sohc 2 valve single cylinder from a pressure washer
“Stick like shit to a blanket” First time hearing it lmao
Great Job! Very good video and very easy to comprehend! Wetried it like you suggested and it went great.
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching :)
I really thought the torque wrench said wu-tang
Lmfao 🤣🤣🤣. Even the W looks like the Wu-tang emblem
Thanks for the reminder for this trick mate!! The ol' shit to a blanket trick! 😁😁👌
Isn’t that “shite to a blanket”?😊
Great demonstration.
Bro u came from Heaven ♥️
Woaahhh fuck!! This man just read my mind!!!
Thank you sir. My new arc flywheel is 32° timing and that's way to much. For my application.
Very interesting vider sir. I just might give that a go tommorow.

Gold
well done mate..
Would love to see you hook a timing light up to this. I am dealing with china starter upgrade to 2011 gx 390 and keyways are different.
Where can I get a key from
did I advance to much it won't crank now?
May I steal your "stick like shit to a blanket" phrase for my own personal use?
Where is the large lock washer?

Thanks so much

Billet flywheel.
You need a vacuum fed fuel pump
What size carb did you put on this motor?
How did you start it with no gas hooked up,,dont see fuel tank or fuel line
air powered
Thanks I have predator 212
How much rpm
Typically on a car engine you advance for torque and retard for top end RPM? Is this motor different for some reason?
This is ignition timing not valve timing
Advance for top end retarded for low rpm

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just _buy_ another Woodruff key? 😕
Depends how far away your parts place is, walking to your box for a paint pen seems easier to me. You're supposed to lap the tapers either way.
I just tried that and it will not stay in position without a key I'd like to see him start that motor after all that work
Did you lap the flywheel into the crankshaft?
I start the engine at the end of the video.
@@AaronBonBarroni bet he skipped the lapping.

I'd say u don't have a damn clue
@@ryancronin7575 yea I reviewed it over again a while after I wrote my first comment, and yea it does have a flywheel, I just didn't look enough -_-
What’s that song at the end ?
Come and Get It - I Prevail, it's a proper banger
will this help my recoil from snapping out of my hands if I retard the timing ?
Sounds like the recoil is buggered, but potentially retarding the timing will make it start easier, which might help your problem.
It's likely that your key is sheared if the recoil is being pulled out of your hands
U need to adjust ur valve lash
Its not called a timing key. That is a Woodruff key.
A timing key is an offset woodruff key that you can buy to change the timing on your engine.
I THINK..EXCUSE ME...MODIFY THE HOLES OF THE COIL PULSE..AND ADVANCE THE TIME..IS MORE EASY...AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MODIFY THE MOTOR PIECES..
No. Theres nowhere to mount the coil. Unless you have a custom bracket made the coil is stationary.
It’s easier to do this. Unless you like fabrication, which no one does
