House in Barreiro: Fusion of Two Old Warehouses into a Contemporary Design | ARCHITECTURE HUNTER

Located in Barreiro, Portugal, the architect Aires Mateus combined two old warehouses into one for a house. The exterior maintains the ruins' appearance, while the interior is a bright white space like the rest of the house. An intermediate space controls the transition between the historic shell and the new dwelling. The roof folds to create a pool, giving the impression that it has succumbed to the weight of the water. WOW! WOW! WOW!!! Most original house I've seen in a very long time! INCREDIBLE idea to hang the pool down into the main house!
I'm sure that was a very VERY difficult thing to engineer! Just INCREDIBLE, what more is there to say? I LOVE IT!

It is very unique, beautiful in its own way, but it has a serious problem: From the inside there is never a view of the scenery (whatever it is). In the end it is like a beautiful prison.

More like a museum rather than a house...cold rooms...high mantanace pool roof...but its pretty and nice to look at
