TEDx is basically a TED event by independent organizers, like TEDxVienna, TEDxBerlin, etc. In the US, many Universities organize their own TED conferences. I think TED gave people permission to do that only a few years ago. TEDxVienna was founded about 5 years ago.
Although i have never met Destin. I can see in his videos, his body language and the way he explains his thoughts that he is a genuine down to earth person. I am a big fan and look forward to every video. Keep thinking and doing, I am smarter everyday because of your channel.

I've been trying for a year to get my bosses to understand the "you need to be a thinker and a doer" because that's what I'm always trying to DO. They sit in meetings and talk and accomplish nothing. Back in 1965, when I was 10, and first learning about world Explorers, I heard the word Adventurer and I thought about the difference between them and Explorers. Explorers have a plan and expectations they've already considered as they go in new or unknown areas and seek to confirm or change their ideas. An Adventurer goes into the new or unknown with no plan or preconcepts and considers (thinks about) what they encounter and interacts (do things) with such for an understanding of them. I think that you are trying to say, sir, is: "Be an Explorer!" ...then come back and be a Talker (Ted or otherwise) to share.

Actually, in the Amazon rainforest you have thousands of insects that have not been studied yet. If you are a biologist you can simply walk to the Amazon and you are going to be able to document and even name insects that have never been studie before.
