I am a retired army combat arms soldier, Drill Sergeant, enlisted and an officer. You would think my image would be the most important part of me to be successful. However, when I hear Michael English sing this song, every prideful slice of me pales in comparison to seeing Jesus!!! I can only bow on my knees and cry Holy, clap my hands and sing glory...glory to the son of God!! There was Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Timothy, my loved ones they all knew me well. I was overjoyed to see all of them there! But I said take me to see Jesus, FOR HE IS THE ONE WHO DIED FOR ME, THEN, I BOWED ON MY KNEES AND CRIED HOLY, HOLY TO THE SON OF GOD! GLORY TO THE SON OF GOD! When I hear him sing that part of this song, every single fiber of my spirit, soul, mind and body...gives way to the anointing of ALMIGHTY GOD, and all I care about is praising our Lord Jesus Christ the SON OF GOD! I was a missionary to Jamaica for 13 years. In 2009 I was paralyzed after a head on crash in Jamaica. I was flow home to die. 34 fractures to my ribs, T4,6 and 12 vertebra shattered. 2 Ross holding it all together. This song was sung at my ordination before we shipped out. My sister and brother in law had a huge singing ministry and would come to all the works we were doing. 2009 would be the last time I stepped foot (rolled) on our ministry in Jamaica. When they performed this song, in the last church I built there..... it was packed to the outside with 100s of believers and my ppl. When Debbie belted out the phrase ""Timothy,...I WANT TO SEE JESUS! CAUSE HE'S THE ONE WHO DIED FOR ME"" All were crying and it hit me like no other. I wanted to die. I'm in pain strapped to a chair and will be to my last breath. I was so moved I threw myself out of my chair, hit the concrete face down and screamed "GLORY" Over and over...couldn't stop for what seemed an hour. I have never been the same, Spiritually since that night in Jamaica after 18 years. My ppl picked me up and put me back in the chair.....I love my ppl, Jamaican....Savannah la Mar Christian Church. Llandilo, Phase 2 Lot 2B Main Road.....is were I will be "chruched' buried. What a glorious day that will be for this broken body. Blessings everyone!!

This song never gets old. I remember at camp meeting as a child the anointing fell on two ladies as they sang this. Sister Ross got out her hankie and ran around the sanctuary waving her hankie like a flag of surrender. The duet sang the song over and over. The saints rejoiced and sang along with the ladies, shouting at the part that said, “I want to see Jesus!” I will never forget that time of genuine worship to the Lord.
Running around waving a hankie? Where in the bible do people run around in the sanctuary? I only do what is in the bible.
The Holy Spirit was gifted to us on Pentecost. Dancing and singing his praises, running ,crying and speaking in tongues are all wonderful gifts each of us can pray to receive. Praying for all who can't feel the spirit!
These wonderful singers have helped get me through a difficult year after losing my husband. David Phelps, Michael English, Mercy Me, Mark Lowry and all the Gaither group are truly God's people reaching out to proclaim the glory of God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ! This song is anointed. I have found from personal experience that the more anointed and public you are, the harder and more public the devil seeks to destroy you (believe me, if you have a weakness, the devil will exploit it and you can be overcome without the support of others). I pray for a spirit so humble that when I see a brother or sister in Christ that I am so filled with the love of God that all I see is Jesus and what He did for me and for that person. I want to see Jesus so strongly that I begin to worship the God who started it all. In the end, the full purpose of man is to glorify and sing praises to the God who loved us and gave himself up for us.

My favorite song reminds me of my daddy! He was a pastor! 28 years ago I sang this song at a youth sing inspiration/ lock in we we’re having at our church I was the second person to get up to sing! My daddy recording the service but started to feel sick so he singled my mom over to the sound booth and they went home he ended up in the ER had to have emergency surgery because he had a bleeding ulcer within the next 24hrs daddy passed away! But weeks after his funeral we listened to the recording and as we listen to me singing he was just crying out to the Lord! Who knew that he would actually be experiencing what this beautiful song says!

What has always amazed me of many people that sing or play Gospel music is that they always have had the vocal or instrumental talent that could easily be sought out as 'crossovers' to mainstream or pop music yet they humbly choose to honor our Lord God with their gifts. Michael English and Guy Penrod caught my ear for pleasant sounds decades ago. Add David Phelps and Bill and Gloria Gaither music/TV channel and an afternoon is easily spent in meditation and contemplation of our blessings. Hallelujah and Amen.

The church, while as the Body of Christ, has a responsibility to call out people in public sins, should recall as far back as Proverbs "It please God to keep a thing private". &"who art thou that judges the brother...take heed lest thou also stumble". None of us will stand at the Bema seat of Christ & not see a great deal of life go up in smoke. To condemn people because they fall into sin(& it is almost always a sexual sin or an addiction that the "church" holds a grudge against...) is the opposite of how Jesus told us to live. We are to live the law of love, forgiving one another. Organized religion has utterly failed at this.😢 Thank God for groups of people who take in the "discarded" like Larry Gatlin, Sandy Patty, Michael English, & so many others...just search the faces of the choir & you will see them. Those who made the mistake of being honest about being an imperfect human being, then ostracized for it. Jesus died for all of us, these people. Not the self-righteous. They don't want a savior.
Too busy being self-righteous & judging the rest of us. God will sort it all out s moon. Then we'll see to whom He gives the seat of honor & cloak of humility...

@@anj3595 I'm reading Michael English's biography & it is horrific what he went through. In an interview he said he most likely was not saved, including when he won all those Dove awards. I'm not sure if this performance was after he truly came to the Lord but he looks more broken in this video. Shows how Satan is after all of us and any one of us can fall...but God!!!!!

All I know is that I was sad the way the church rejected him, though it may have been the broken marriage that sent him away in shame. I certainly don’t know the details. I just know in my spirit God had His hand on this prodigal back then. Christ Church is Pentecostal, Church Of God. Adultery requires very strict counsel and repentance. Thing is, repentance is not always in man’s time.
@@anj3595 Michael's autobiography is "The Prodigal Comes Home." I ordered it on Amazon. It wasn't just adultery; he had gotten into a lot of other stuff as well. In an interview (I watched it years ago & can't recall but it was a one-on-one interview) Michael was giving his testimony & the interviewer broke in and said, "Were you truly saved during that time" and Michael answered, "Now I know I was not." If you do a YT search on "Michael English+testimony+interview" you may be able to find it. I found it sad but encouraging because I thought I was saved but was living like the world until about six years ago. God is faithful and loves us so very much!!!

I don't know anything about Michael's personal failures. Being in the limelight, and especially in the limelight of the Christian sub-culture ... all I have to say is: I would certainly not want all of MY personal shortfalls, sins, errors, times of extreme indiscretion and all the rest put on display. And I daresay that goes for anyone who would look down on Mike. When we sing before the Throne of God in Revelation chapter 7, I hope to stand near Mike. Awesome voice - humble heart.

I worked for a Baptist Bookstore years ago and talk about judging. They pulled all his music, like they were perfect. Well, God's grace is sufficient and He brought Michael back home. I think it’s sad to sat that women lure Godly men as if it is the woman’s fault. Truth is both sides made a mistake. God forgives. People repent and go on stronger. I do think it’s sad how quickly the community turns their back.
