    CONCRETE or CEMENT? When there's no aggregate (like gravel, etc.), it's technically "cement". "Concrete" involves aggregate PLUS portland cement (mixed with water). When making a vase, I would either use a sand mix (without gravel, or sift the gravel out), or use something like Cement All. I refer to it as "concrete" which may not be technically correct. Cement All is closer to a mortar mixture (there's more than just portland cement in RapidSet Cement All). I would avoid just using straight portland cement to make vases or any object that you want to hold up long-term without crumbling or breaking easily.

    • @raykent3211
      @raykent3211 Před 4 lety +2

      I agree. Pure portland cement and water is fragile. Adding a fine aggregate like sand makes a big difference. I would also call that mortar, but it is a fine form of concrete. The product you're using probably also contains a plasticiser which improves flownessability without requiring superoverhydration. (I love your wordplay!)

    Hi Crafsman. I was just about to make my first ever mould for a cement weight. It goes in the base of an old lamp. The weights had crumbled away. I tuned in and this video popped up. Very useful , and excellent timing. I used RTV condensation drying silicone rubber, and quick dry ready mix cement. I built a little wooden box, and sprayed with mould release. My piece came out fantastic. Better than the original. I like your new jacket. Thank you again for all you do. Keep steady crafting.

    Dear Crafsman,
    Thanks for the video.
    We used to make concrete cilinders for engineering and we used burned motor oil on the iron molds as it did not alter the concrete properties. If someone plans to cast on metal molds, maybe this is helpful.
    Also, we would allow it to "cure" once set for up to 28 days inside water for maximum strength (there's also additional additives to bring the time down to 7days).
    So if you (or other steadycrafters) find the details chipping off, maybe this is helpful too. Much love, thanks for the show.

    Yo Crafsman. Your puffy coat is noisy. But warm. We need to send old Build A Bear stuff to you. Like a violin or glasses.
    Also. Pigments of all kinds can be added to the concrete. Glitter, beads, even metal powder. Sprinkle powder into mold first. Then buff after. Glow in the dark? Holographic? Wish.com is a great source.

    Another great video! Cracked me up with the intro and kept me smiling the whole time. How can you make a 29 min video not dull?!

    CrafsMan, you made me so nervous putting that wonderful milk cap into a mold.
    I was so worried it didn't get messed up!

    I had that exact trapper keeper in 4th grade. Remember going to Walmart and being so excited for my school supplies. Adulthood has me happy with a new dish sponge.

    Although I have been a muppet fan for life and a paper crafter which is slightly different I can't contain my excitement that a puppet has met crafts intertwined with a little asmr because your voice is also relaxing. I think I just found my new happy place😎

    As a Texan, let me just say Mr. Crafsman, your Missippian interpretation of the shape of Texas is perfect. I mean that whole heartedly.

    That clamp that ratchets open and stays open is known in medicine as a retractor. You can buy one online for a few dollars. For five bucks or so, you probably don’t get the highest quality, but that shouldn’t matter unless you’re using it for actual surgery.
