Six minutes and a half minutes... That's all it took for Ron Reyes to become one of the greatest hardcore vocalists of all time.
Don't forget when Henry Rollins joined the band. Depression is my favorite album.

Ron left the band right before Jealous Again was released. Just a few days ago he announced his departure from the band again, today marking the release of their new record.

Ron Reyes was the best singer Black Flag ever had. Nobody else sang "Jealous Again" as well as he did. It's so ironic that he was the singer with the shortest time in the band.

Upon review, some of the lyrics I found for You Bet... just straight up didn't match the song so I tried to change them to ones that did. (Some of them are still a bit fucky though)

What got punk in my blood. Seen a show in Hollywood when I was 13 years old. Black flag, the Circle Jerks & a band called 999. Don't remember 999. I got in a fight in the pit & got my ass whooped. Didn't know pit etiquette & apparently I hit a girl. Boyfriend went ballistic on me. I ended up on my back & kicked the guy in his lower gut, launching him into the crowd. I got up & ran out the venue. Lost my glasses. Punks been in my blood ever since. Seen 100s of shows since too.
That tongue-roll Chavo does at the end of "No Values" may be the greatest non-HR vocal moment in eighties punk.

I remember when the punx & the metalheads we're at war. DRI tried playing with Slayer. Nope. The show didn't happen the LAPD cordoned off a 10 BLOCK RADIUS to calm shit down finally. The punx vs the metalheads. Good times.

Punk and hardcore and all of their offshoots are more about rhythm driving the song as opposed to the development of overtly melodic ideas.
