    he is very talanted but is doing too much. I saw lots of lost posessions and wasted attacks. The good thing is he knows when to do it - in the last third of the field where the risk is extreamly small. But I think he will be more effective without all the nutmeg attemps. Never saw KDB or modric doing even half the number nutmegs palmer did this season in their entire carrers.

    • @Anon97123
      @Anon97123 Před měsícem +44

      You're wrong. His bravery and ability to pull this stuff off is what makes him so creative and so good. Different players create differently. But to be creative you have to take risks and be willing to give the ball away. De Bruyne doesn't attempt loads of nutmegs, but he does attempt loads of through balls and audacious passes. And like Palmer's skills, sometimes it results in a loss of possession. Kroos has the most ridiculous pass completion percentages. And De Bruyne's doesn't really compare. But that doesn't make Kroos a better passer than De Bruyne because De Bruyne takes risks, as he's a more creative player.
      I'll tell you for a fact. The most frustrating wingers are the ones who never take their defender on and just pass the ball backwards. You rarely want to discourage a player like Palmer from using his ingenuity to try and make things happen.
      Watched the guy all season and never been frustrated with him. These are the sort of things where highlights won't tell the full picture. You can make a highlight comp of any pro being good at a certain skill or a comp of them giving the ball away. That's why you have to watch full games and decide for yourself who the best player on the pitch has been. More often than not this season, it's been Palmer. Can also tell from doing a deepdive into the advanced metrics/underlying stats if you're a stats nerd. Both things tell you more than highlights or G+A will.
      But these moments where he tries a nutmeg or skill are literally the things that make football enjoyable. Hate people that try to stamp it out the game just because they want ideal ball retention. Same shit as only shooting from high xG areas. More efficient maybe but it sucks the magic out of football.
