Though, for me I think she is not wanting to "pick" she is aware of both sides and I think it's a commentary on how music appeals to certain emotions - and some music is all about one kind of emotion... I think Poppy is bored of that. As humans we experience a range of emotions and it narrows us to focus in on one side of it. Poppy is cutting right down the middle. This song is more of an experience than something to soothe basic emotions - it's an intellectual commentary done in the form of art! But, that's just how I see it. And that's the beauty of art - it is open to our interpretation :)
