NF uses some okay wordplay here and there and has a great flow, but that’s really it. he uses many filler lines, and some corny lines sometimes, and has little to no punchlines or technical bars in most of his songs, if not all. he’s one that makes you hype with the aggressive tone, beats, and flows, but lyrically not saying much.
I agree with your opinion on Logic. the music he’s recently been putting out ranges from mediocre to trash. I don’t think it’s because “he made it” tho, I just feel like he lost the drive and inspiration that’s motivated his mixtape and Under Pressure days.

The more I think of it, NF sounds like he's addressing all rappers and, from what I interpret, him and Em are the Ying and Yang of rap. There's no I in team (meaning more then one player), drop the T and A (leaving Em) but sometimes if I'm being honest it feels like it's only me (Em backwards). I think NF is correcting Em by saying he's carrying the Team (Rap) but NF is carrying it too (bringing it back to no I in team). Its clearly not a diss to Em but every other rapper. He talks to Em through out the song in the only way Em will really listen. He purposely put key words that gets us to think about Em so that it catches his ear, imo. I sense collab intentions rather then fighting words but what do I know :)

yeah you’re right, that’s not his mission. but the reason why I said that in the first place is because I feel that if there ever was a rapper lyrically as good as Eminem was, even if it wasn’t their intention to change Hip Hop, they would anyway. Eminem has so much skill in rhyming that if there ever was another rapper that had as much skill as him, even if they didn’t want to, they would impact or make a name for themselves in Hip Hop one way or another. that’s just my take on it though. but as for corny lyrics, and fillers, I guess we can agree to disagree, everyone’s entitled to their opinions.

NF went from a rapper with a small fanbase that always complained how underrated and unknown he was from the world. now he’s at the point his album outsold Chance the Rapper and was no. 1 around the country. this shows that regardless of how much a rapper attempts to remain under the radar and unknown, they will be recognized one way or another. it’s impossible to be a very skilled rapper consistently releasing music, and for them not to be noticed. and nah, I understand that mumble rap and trap is the new wave in Hip Hop, but the lines in a lyrical rap song still matter just as much. I think when someone listens to mumble and trap, they find the most enjoyment through its catchiness and production value. and when someone listens to lyrical rap, they find the most enjoyment through the lyrics. and I don’t think there’s a “popular style of rap”, I think every style of rap gets the same amount of recognition. but anyway, we have a lot of different perspectives on the topic, but we can agree to disagree. NF has always looked up to Eminem (stating him as one of his biggest influences), and knowing him, I doubt he would make a song taking shots over a single half-assed line.

Ems shot was that NF is trying to be a version of of Eminem that he was at one point. Then when he says “feels like it’s only me” he’s basically saying he is not like Eminem and he is the only one who is doing the style of music he’s putting out.
Those 2 lines I know for sure are addressing what Eminem said about NF. A few others can be noted but is purely speculation such as:
“Write my name on your hit list might be the last time you wrote something”(self explanatory remember Eminem dissed a lot of rappers on that album and on that song so basically it was a hit list in a way.
“Shoot you out of the sky like your punchlines you are not landing” could be referring to shooting down the Kamikaze (Eminem’s album name).
Like I said a few more could be toward Em but it’s speculation but my opinion is he is addressing multiple artists who have bad things to say about him. But it’s hard to deny the first two weren’t about what Eminem said about him in the Ringer.
Side note Eminem’s song was “The Ringer” and NFs song was “Returns” maybe suggesting hey I heard you ringing I’m returning the call.

Ok, so I literally just watched this video 30 minutes ago and I was thinking, "naw, there's no way NF would diss Eminem..." But then I googled the lyrics to this song by NF "Returns" and....oh...my..goodness, folks. This may be a real thing. Not saying it's 100% but I just wanted to share with you the things that instantly stood out to me IF this song IS directed partly or completely. towards Eminem. I also want to say besides this video by Nolifeshaq I have not watched anyone else's thoughts about this.

So, it seems that he is about to direct his words towards MC's or one MC *cough, EM*
1) "I'm an amateur's what YOU think

Did Eminem claim NF was an amateur? YES!
Did Eminem "step" to NF by dissing him? YES!
On the song, "The Ringer", Eminem says,

The thinking was, "Why would Eminem not just say the F-word? He's notorious for dropping F-bombs. And when you say, "aN eFFING recovering clone of me", you have to say "NF". So, Eminem could have been saying NF was a "clone" of him...So, lets say this is 100% a diss from Eminem towards NF saying that he's generic and a clone of him.
NF has constantly been criticized for sounding close to Eminem or even identical to Eminem in his earlier music.
A few more things: Notice in these lines that NF seems to be directing this to ONE single person by the word usage.
Lastly, consider that there is NO WAY Eminem doesn't know about NF...He wants to stay on his throne and dropped an entire album with the main purpose of "de-throning" a long list of artists he doesn't like, including NF it seems...
What if NF heard that diss in "The Ringer" and thought "Oh heck no, I'm gonna diss Eminem back and do it the SAME WAY he dissed me, with creative structure of words"...

Eminem is referred to as "EM" all the time...I don't think I need to justify that. For example, when you saw Nolifeshaq's title that NF threw shots at "EM", you knew EXACTLY who he was talking about...Eminem...What if NF is using creative word structure here to say that this song is him getting back at Eminem, and making him so humiliated that it's like Eminem being a screaming hostage. Basically NF is saying, "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP! YOU MESSED WITH THE WRONG MC" Lol.

When rappers diss each other it's called "taking shots"..This needs no defending. Eminem had a "hit-list" of artists on his album Kamikaze. NF was included on Eminem's "hit list" including other hip hop artists such as Lil Yachty, Lil Pump, Tyler the Creator, Joe Budden, Drake, and Lil Xan.
Is NF saying that Eminem made a mistake by putting his name on his "hit-list" and that this song is a response to show that he is not going stay silent like most of the other artists did?
Nolifeshaq mentioned that because NF says "rip that cocky smile right off your face" it can't be speaking of Eminem because Em doesn't smile much. However, there are tons of other things that communicate NF is dissing Eminem, and also NF could be speaking metaphorically that Eminem was smiling when he dissed NF and thought NF wouldn't respond. NF could be saying "Who's smiling now?" :)

NF's merch is part of his unique brand, and to his fans, including me, the unique merch is part of many reasons NF's platform/brand is one-of-a-kind although it's a small part of it. But the "real" brand represents a MOVEMENT of being REAL and it's part of what separates NF from other artists which is contrary to what Eminem said in his NF diss lyric. And NF is possibly saying that Eminem is being "arrogant" in thinking that nobody else can be authentic except him.

And then maybe NF saying that "I think it's time for my turn," is him saying to Eminem "You are very successful, you had your time in the lime-light, so why are you not giving me a chance and writing me off as a clone of you?"
There are probably more, but I tried to keep it to the stuff that MAY be related IF this IS a diss towards Eminem. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. My conclusion is that this IS a diss towards Eminem without question...NF says "em" 5 times and there are just too many things that stand out for it to be random. :)
