I just found you tonight. My grandmother said her mother would make all those tucks in fabric before the blouses were cut out, by hand of course. The blouses were for her five girls and herself. Then the underclothes and the nightgowns. One of the reasons little girls learned to sew so early. They started teaching me to embroider at maybe five. I would sit on a little willow chair beside an adult so they could oversee my work, and this was in the 50s. They felt it was that important.

I recently learned how valuable cotton was. Wedding gowns were made of cotton. The most wanted material was cotton. Now days cotton is used as patterns.
    I love to learn tucks.

I too used cloth diapers with my now 24 yr old daughter & had a service that would pick up & launder the dirty ones & exchange them for clean. Never had diaper rash true! The dolls are beautiful.

I love cotton . . . always and forever. King Cotton made the USA rich beyond measure in the 19th century, b/c of the Cotton gin.

Question: I see several dolls that are kinda naked, with all the lovely doll clothes on the table why not put clothes on the beautiful dolls that don't have any clothes?

HI! It is because the bodies on these types of dolls are rare and fascinating, and it is important for collectors to see them.

The clothes look like scaled down versions of the real thing. Is that how they did it or were there special patterns available? Thanks

    Who harvested that cotton?
