Dystopia - Post-Apocalyptic Short Film

In a desolate, broken world ravaged by war and plague.
A lonely boy must find the strength within himself to stay alive.
This project took around 6 months of work, I wanted to create a completely shattered world and place this young character inside of it.
The film was shot in a strongly guerrilla style, primarily just involving me and my brother (who plays the main character). My aim was to really push the boundaries and challenge what could be achieved in film with the bare minimum of resources.
It was a challenging but incredibly satisfying film to bring to life!

I like the way the main character doesn't watch when he has to defend himself. He really made me feel the sadness of having to take a life.
This was a very good film. Proof that it doesn't take lots of money to produce quality.
The young actor in this film has got some serious talent. I hope we'll see more from him.

+Ned Messer I do all the editing myself, but its hard to say how long it takes, this film was kind of on the back burner and I'd do a few hours of editing every couple of days over several months. Certain things took longer, actually cutting the film together was fairly simple and didn't take too long. But on the other hand, shots with heavy VFX took days and days (but I'm really not a professional at VFX :P ). Sound was also a big one, the majority of the sound (footsteps etc) were recorded afterwards and synced up in post. As I don't work to a deadline or anything its really hard to say how long it takes, but I hope I helped with your question. :)

Didn't he secure the weapons? That handgun and rifle would greatly boost his survival quotient.
Nice job, the only criticism I have is that all the gear looks brand new except the knife. You should distress it.
simon james Yeah, many of this type of film feature unrealistic clothing. Goodwill and Salvation Army stores are great resources for worn, ill-fitting clothing and crappy belts to hold pants up.

Love the passion of these vids, man. Even going back to your Nerf vids - you've the heart and soul of a film-maker, through and through. Hope you get your well-deserved big break.
I don't know why anyone would dislike this movie. I watch a ton of post-apocalyptic short films and I think this one was well executed. The acting, camera work, wardrobe, cuts and effects were all effective, and I did care about the protagonist.
This is quite well-done.
Interesting POV. Reminds me a lot of The Road (down to the boy's woolen hat).

Dude, this was really well done! I definitely got a Monsters vibe from this: the masks, the feeling of isolation, and the really good attempt at the special effects Obviously they're noticeable, but it pays off so much.

Always been a fan of you're stuff and you never fail to deliver. The fact that your uploads are few and far between just shows how much time and effort you put in to each project. This was no exception and was a brilliant film. You have a real talent for this and should definitely keep doing it.

Director and screenplay of the video are phenomenally good and the young lead actor impressed by his presence and artistic skills.

Vert well made, good narrative, cohesive; tells a good story without much fanfare
it'd work better if you removed the voices, they take something out of it.
A lot of these post apocalyptic shorts are so bad they are unwatchable but this one is really good. I would love to see a full length version. It would make a great film.

Maybe a better protagonist and director, this dude felt boring and I didn't really care about what happened to him. The cinematography and camera placement was borderline decent, but could be better. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but for a relatively small channel, great work.

Didn’t make much sense going from being stalked and your brother and friends getting murdered, to some apocalyptic world of hunger and snipers shooting at you. Seriously, a little continuity goes a long way.
