Though he has skillfully rendered this murattu keerthani (in our guru's words) somehow well, from a person who has learnt many styles of world music and is a established cine playback singer I expect a still clear rendition of this unique Dikshithar krithis. It lacks sahithya thelivu and sangathi nuances. The best example of cine singer rendering carnatic krithi more excellantly than a seasoned carnatic singer is Janakiamma singing mohana kalyani song bhuvaneswarya in Mareyada Hadu.

My opinion - the violin was too strong to hear the clarity of the sahitya since his voice is a bit thinner in the upper octaves.
Also a general comment that such weighty kritis of Shri Dikshitar don't need the percussion show. Just a serious ghana-based mishrachapu would bring the focus to the sahitya!
