- How to fix a dripping tap by replacing the tap washer.
This is a real example of a dripping tap with a disintegrated rubber washer. It's a cold water basin tap, probably from the late 70s or 80s.
Please note that I am not a plumber. This video is just to demonstrate how I fixed this particular tap, but yours may be different. Always consult an expert if you don't know what you're doing! - Jak na to + styl
omg this is like alan partridge meets bob the builder
YES! 100% agree
Our outdoor tap is beyond dripping. You've given me confidence to give it a go! Thank you for demonstrating step by step and for the easy to understand explanations.
My hot tap has not been turning off for days. I heard about tap reviver kits. I've never changed a washer before but successfully did so yesterday with a tap reviver kit. I have OCD and get very anxious about this sort of thing. It was a bit of a struggle as I didn't know how to get the handwheel off and wasn't sure if I was doing it right when the gland wasn't undoing but then it came undone. The tap reviver kit was so easy to install, no doubt easier than changing individual parts. I thought I'd say this in case it's helpful to anyone reading this though I appreciate this video will be helpful to some too.
Thank you. A plumber wants to charge me over £90 to do this. He tried to pretend it's a screw of some sort that costs around £20.00. Some tradesmen hear an old lady voice and think we are stupid.
I may not have the strength but my son will have.
Good music. Strauss. Blue Danube. Lovely waltz.
Plumbers want the hourly rate before plus a cost for the work they do. I've never ever called one. You can find enough help on the internet and CZcams so long as you are in the same country as the presenter. Other nations seem to have different kind of taps.
Great video. I hope the Jibble family are very proud.
You made it look easy. You where thorough, quick, efficient. Thank you so much!
Thank you.
Mine are exactly the same but bought from B&Q only about 5 years ago. The chrome is already coming off at the spouts. They don't chrome properly anymore. I am sure that real chroming from the 80's would have lasted longer.
Same with many things now. Even if expensive it's often still rubbishly made.
Nicely executed video sir! answered all my queries prior to attempting the job at my gf's!
Nice work, nice editing, and informative vid, A++ would watch again.
The sheep that give us wire wool have no natural enemies

Thank you, life saver, mission accomplished by two shielas
Thank you for making this video.
This could make me a hero for a day
Thank you Mr Jibble. 👍
This I can follow. I must get a Back Knut Spanner. It just needed new washer and cleaning. Thanks.
My tap is different from this. I changed the washer but it still drips. I didn't have to undo a big nut. I just unscrew the top of the tap and the innards come out like a column.
Thanks for this. Going to give this a go
Good useful clip. Thanks 😊.
Nice video thanks, maybe half fill sink before you turn off water so you can clean easier. 👍
Thank you for showing me how to changing a rubber on a leak tap i dont have any convenience in me doing that so im hoping to get a plumber in to really watch me fixing mine do if anything went wrong he can fix it there and then but thank you for showing me.
Thank you Mr.Jibel
Cheers for video work treat on old tap thanks job done
Dear Mr Jibble
I have not one quibble
Your plumbing.....
Was simply mind numbing
Thanks, excellent video... Going to attempt similar
Good video, but if you find the headnut is stuck fast, look out for the easy tapslitter, makes it so much easier.
Thank you sir!
If it's the hot water tap down stairs and the boiler is upstairs what happens to the water in the pipe between the boiler and the dismantled tap. Does it all run off , if so what happens to the boiler.
I am looking to unscrew a faucet with a little plastic part but no where to use a spanner to twist off the stem, any ideas on how to remove it (so i can silicon the stem or change the washer)? Brand name is Wessan and I don't want to risk breaking the cartridge, thank you vm
lovely jubbly
Will this method work on all old taps?
Hi can you help ..
My cold tap drips .. I just checked the washer and looks like brand new..
I turned back on the cold water mains and drip drip drip ..
Any idea ?
thanks
Definitely man easy mate
Looks like you need a lot of tools to maintain a household for any length of time.
Great video.
Can I get the number of the person that did the grouting? I need my bath sealing done. 👍
I had a badly dripping bath tap. I could never get the top screw undone, so I applied some WD40 and left it 24 Hours. I didn't need to do any more - that was enough - the tap turns off perfectly, and no dripping.
If the “next” guy in would be myself in the future if grease the threads. That’s why you can’t undo some things, the original fitter didn’t grease a thing 😁
Like it but get a decorator in 😳
I'm sure You've opened that stopcock? Clockwise to open? Right
No watch it again. he reopened it anticlockwise n initially turned it off clockwise
Why cant you wash hands using other tap!!!
Jeezo a bit of vim is required
Run under hot tap DOPE
Don’t need to faucet 😂
You only did half the job. You did not 're-seat the washer'. If in doubt consult a qualified plumber.
adjustable wrenches need to be banned all together....
Unnecessarily long
