1:08 The difference between Lidia's Shotokan and Jin's Kyokushin bow is such a cool detail. The tekken team really goes the extra mile with martial arts fidelity. Lidia was my fav character in Tekken 7, and I am absolutely getting her for 8 too. Osu!
Its weird to me since Lidia is this weird fusion of Shotokan, Gojuryu and Kyokushin techniques especially since she uses the Do Mawashi Kaiten Geri in more appropriate ways than Jin or Kazuya lmao
@@CalaryMan well, it is a videogame after all haha. She's mostly shotokan but since no martial art is complete,they tried to fill up the gaps with extra moves. Same for Eddy's capoeira with punches or Reina's Taido (originally mostly kicks, but they made the whole "Mishima martial arts" stuff to give her some punches)

Eddy doesn't have ancient ancestry. Brazil is not ancient and Brazilian is not an ethnic group. Brazil is not a culture. Polish people on the other hand are an ethnic group with an ancient ancestry. Language and culture of their own. Don't compare the two.

Lidia Sobieska was the last DLC fighter to come into Tekken 7 and an new fighter as well. Now she's one of the first few DLC fighters into Tekken 8. That's crazy to me but exciting at the same time.

Fun fact: at 1:00, during the intro against Jin, she performs a piece of an actual Kata from shotokan karate, called Kanku Sho.
Tekken developers are so real for being THIS accurate over martial arts content, Karate fellas are eating good rn
Katas are just long, coordinated strings of actual techniques. Literally it's like Step 1: start in this stance. do x in y direction.
Literally every technique that isn't made up is a part of a kata or form (pretty much anything from Karate, TKD and Chinese martial arts will have forms).
Sometimes it just looks like they’re doing silly things because you can't see the imaginary person they are fighting (Jin's enbu from T4 comes to mind). But it's like probaly 90% real stuff except for the physics defying stuff and fantasy stuff like laser eyes.
Honestly it would be a real feat if artists and game designers could just make up 30+ styles of martial arts like it was nothing, so of course it's from real life.
Don’t forget that Jin learned kyokushin karate - the opposite of shotokan
Taekwondo has their own katas as well (based on Karate) called tules or poomsae. ITF TKD or traditional Taekwondo relates much more to Karate than the WT Taekwondo (you can see it in olympics and it's much more different than the traditional).

This song is amazing and fits her perfectly. Shout out to Namco for this track. It is very catchy! And I love her traditional style here. It's like she's less of an "Akira-like" character and more of someone who is a master practitioner of karate with quick strikes and defensive techniques. She definitely has a great balance of offensive techniques and defensive stances and deflections. Lidia is very well-rounded in this game, overall.

As a fan of Karate, I love this character and her moves.
Really nice when Jin only uses Karate for a single game and then exclusively his own style or Mishima style.
