if they release a 1.3T version next year, you'll be kicking yourself. Its more powerful AND more fuel efficient. There's literally no downside other than that its a couple hundred bucks more to make.

@@BoopSnoot they won’t. It’d cut into their trailblazer sales.

@@blazinat0r Not sure they really compete, since one is much lower and more like a hatchback/wagon almost compared to the tall boxy trailblazer. I'd be more worried about the Encore GX competing with the Trailblazer than the Trax.

@@BoopSnoot they’re both on the GEM platform and use the same tech inside and out.
The Trax is marketed as the budget entry level, if you want the 1.3T you’re going to have to shell out more money for a Trailblazer. GM will never put the 1.3T in it, particularly when the China-spec version (called the Seeker) of this car gets the 1.5T, along with LED interior and taillights, Bose sound system, 360 view cams, auto lift gate, etc... They de-contented the Seeker and designed the Trax for maximum penny pinching as their entry level car.
The 2024 trailblazer is practically identical, even the interior. The main differences are AWD with the 1.3T option.

    • @BoopSnoot
      @BoopSnoot Před rokem

@@blazinat0r Trailblazer is a very different vehicle if you park them side-by-side IMO. And even if they don't put it in the Trax, they should put it in the Buick Envista. The 1.2T is taking penny pinching too far, when the 1.3T is already only a so-so inexpensive engine. In fact, the 1.5T would be great in the Envista, with the 1.3T being the base engine in the Trax. I doubt it would raise the price more than $500 tops.

I believe this is a 2RS Trax model.
The 1RS has analog gauges and an 8-inch infotainment screen and this car has the 11-inch infotainment screen that comes standard on the 2RS trim.

@@DJAJ101 I bought it on February 3 in 2018. It only had 49,150 miles on it. The only major issue I’ve really had with it is I had to get the turbo cleaned. I planned on having it for at least 10 years or more and then Covid happened. I’m a night shift worker and when I got out of work almost everything was closed. I had to drive extra miles to get gas. I worked overtime for 3 years straight and used it to go everywhere. I’m now over 252,000 miles. And I think I have a vacuum leak. Nobody will fix it for me either. Other than that it’s still going. I put valvoline full synthetic oil in it and stick with only one gas brand. Citgo. It runs much better with Citgo gas.

@@candicerenn4783 Nice! I’m thinking about getting the new 2024 Trax and since it’s near the bottom of Chevy’s lineup (like the Cruze used to be) I was curious what to expect reliability/mileage wise but if I could get 250k outta it over 10 years with little to no major issues I’d be happy.

I bought a 2RS as an interim car and loved it. I had a 2023 Audi S3 prior and wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be and I really wanted a Model 3 Performance and Elon was lowering prices every other month so I bought the Trax hoping Tesla prices would continue to drop and they did. I also knew I would lose little if any money on the Trax and Tesla gave me $400 less than I paid for it so I pulled the trigger and traded it in.
The things I loved about the Trax: Build quality was excellent and it was vault like solid with no rattles. Handling and steering were very good along with chasis dynamics and braking. It would cruise at 80 mph effortlessly, but wind noise was noticeable. I found the drivers seat to be very comfortable despite it not being power like the ACTIV. I was worried that the pleather seats would be hot during the summer, but they weren't. The interior looks great and the infotainment worked well. Most thought it was a Blazer and I had several compliments in parking lots especially on the Crimson Red metallic paint. I even had a couple come into my business and ask if I would show it to them because they couldn't find any at the dealers and they even offered to buy it. The tiny 1.2 made it feel quicker than I anticipated and the transmission performed flawlessly. I wouldn't have even considered it if it had a CVT. The LED headlights were much better than I expected and the auto highbeams worked as they should. It still blows my mind how good this car was and how many features it had for the money.
If GM offered the 2.0 turbo it would make this little SUV damn near perfect to the point I would have kept it and it probably would have increased fuel mileage for those of us with a heavy foot. In the 6 months I had it I only averaged an actual 23.2 mpg and that figure didn't come from the cars computer which showed 23.9. I had a 2018 Camaro RS with the 2.0T - 8 speed and it got the same mpg so if you have a heavy foot you won't get anywhere near the EPA rating. I bought my daughter an ACTIV when I bought mine and I just looked at the My Chevy app and it shows she has averaged 27.1 mpg over 14,000 miles. She has had no problems other than a recall for the infotainment screen because some owners had it go blank on them. She never experienced that, but got the software update anyway.
If you are contemplating buying a Trax, I highly recommend it and so does my daughter.

@Mudpuddle Appreciate the reply. Honestly, I did not expect you would.
I read through the article. Quite a bit of it was speculation or random unnamed mechanics/shops. At this point, I would reserve judgment based on the source of the information. I do not put much faith in bloggers. I could create a website and start blogging tomorrow, and I would be wholly unqualified to do so.
      If this information came
from a legitimate, professional automotive journalist who listed their sources, I would be much more inclined to accept it.
Small little turbo engines in very inexpensive cars always work harder in their day to day chore of moving cars around. I would expect them to have less longevity than larger motors. I think it is too early to come up with a definite verdict at this point.
