    1:15 commentators discuss Świątek re-tossing the ball

    • @elwiraludwikowska9576
      @elwiraludwikowska9576 Před 24 dny +3

      Commentators are blind and many had never played professional tennis. They hsve no idea why a player makes a check ball toss brfore serving especially when it is windy, also chdcking the light which changes over the time. Professionals who want to seve most precise do that and Screamalenka did that also in that final. She was screaming her head off during that final and noone notice thst what an subconcious impact that has on the opponent. The umpire should have given her a warning when the deadly sound was killing the ears. 1ga did ever not complain.

    Re-tossed. Sabalenka torments her opponents by screaming. This is her tactic. Read how the brain works. The opponent's brain registers this scream and the body reacts with tension. Sabalenka knows this and uses this tactic, but Iga did not give up. Well done Iga. Even men don't scream with such aggression.

      guess year Sabalenka will start yelling at IGA... at the top of her lungs " SCREAMING ---- then Scream - I KILL YOU ----- " that might work..

    Has anybody noticed that Sabalenka had the same toss ball issue??????????? It was windy, OMG!!!!!! Accusing Iga of dirty tactics is unfair!!!!!!

      Absolutely right. This is the way you check the wind

      What primitive accused 1ga of lack.of fairplay? Maybe someone blind who could not notice the wind and the problems with toss that 1ga had as Sabalenka.

    Nothing bad about that ...she is perfectionist and toss need to be just on time she hits ....nobody commenting that Sabalenka screaming is loud and anoying

    • @jefdarcy
      @jefdarcy Před 23 dny

      Nobody commenting? LOL, the amount of comments regarding Sabalenka's screaming under every video, on Twitter, and wherever you go is literally far more annoying than the screaming itself. This has been a part of tennis for decades now, I just accept it as part of the game and can't be bothered by it. Most people who constantly go on about it are probably new to tennis.

  • @dianafierro465

    And what? It's not illegal and many players do that. Sabalenka screams all the time that also could be considered a mind game.

  • @maggiech8861
    @maggiech8861 Před 25 dny +12

    Even if it was on purpose, it was an extremely small revenge for Sabalenka's screams. Plus, it's not true she won every point after re-tossing the ball. I watched the whole match and there was at least one net and one fault.

  • @RobertDeMartin

    In regards to Iga's overall play let me say this. After she won and went over to the box to share the moment of happiness with her people, when it was time to get a hug from her coach it lasted a little longer than usual because he obviously was saying something to her. We probably will never find out what he was saying but here is what I thought he was saying: "Iga, you were wonderful. Congratulations! I am so very proud of you! To me, this was the finest I have seen you play!"
    About the ball toss: I believe there was a moment when the wind was gusting at about 16 mph and that could have effected 'some' of the tosses. But let's agree, it just didn't happen in this match. Some observers may ask, "So, what?" Psychologically, it does effect the rhythm of the player receiving the serve. When that rhythm is disturbed it takes the edge slightly off the preparedness of the receiver. In this match, it was glaringly obvious Iga won almost every point after catching her toss. Is it the receivers responsibility to adjust to a new toss? Yes, but the "damage" had already been done. Btw, there was a moment when the camera showed Iga's coach motioning over to Iga by 'touching the bill of his hat' as if it was a signal to her. Could that have been a signal to 'catch her toss'? Even the timing of her serve is somewhat 'herky jerky' to throw off the timing of her opponent. Everyone knows her team has been spending a lot of time 'improving ' her serve. Did this include these psychological 'advantages'? Interesting, isn't it? Perhaps, in an upcoming match an opposing player will call for a 'time out' to make the game official aware of 'excessive catching her toss' without any apparent reason. We shall see.
    ANYWAY, I, like you, didn't think Iga would win. I had to change to watch the match on another tv in another room and sit in a different chair and turn the volume down on the announcers. I had to pull everything out of my 'bag of tricks' to turn around all my negative feelings. And, she came through!!!! A couple of those Championship Points against her occurred when she faulted on her first serve. Talk about pressure? But she served in that high kick serve each time after that and, well, everyone took notice of those moments and knew she had guts and even after the return of serve she 'blasted' away some shots to win those points! From this point on, Iga knows when she plays Sabalenka or Rybakina she has to lift her game up to another level. If she doesn't, the power of the two of them make it very difficult for Iga to win.
    "Thanks, I always enjoy watching and listening to your video's!"

    @tunemeister99 Před 25 dny +4

    What was lacking is she seldom look at the sky first like she always did in 2022 winning 37 consecutive matches in a row. This re-toss is just to make sure she serves correctly with strength and precision and if screamalenka gets distracted, it is her problem. Her grunts are the ones that is distracting.

    Venus was constantly retossing. Who complained then? Iga was playing in windy conditions, hence the care with the toss.

    Hey... Djokovic bounces the ball all the way and pass the timer.. to make the opponent build their anxiety level up.. nobody is complaining about that.. Tossing the ball or Screaming is a part of the game... if your good enough then nothing else matters... _ Hey thats a Metallica song...
    and if your #1.. then bring on the SCREAMING !!!!!

    To be honest. I never rooted for Sabalenka before but after this match I did learn something from her. When the match was over, she never showed any kind of piss off or madness. Instead she gave 1GA a big smile. And then during the ceremony, Iga was kind of nervous( you see that all the time when she was on the stage). Sabalenka was the one that nicely comforted her like a big sister to the younger… That shake my heart and that also makes this match the best for a lifetime.

      I don't think you know much about tennis let alone any sport. Serving is a very important part of tennis. A good serve gives server at least 60% chance of winning the point out right or setting the server up for a close-out (finish) shot. And in order to have a decent serve, server needs to have a decent toss. In tennis, we don't have rule against how many times we can catch the ball and re-toss again. Got it?!?!

    For one, Sabalenka did the same, though not as often. But most importantly, I think this is clearly more problematic for the re-tossing player than for the receiving player, so it's really a pointless discussion.

    Sabalenka screams like a bulldozer at every ball, loud and long, even when the opponent already bounces the ball back, and what is interesting, she stops, when her ball hits the net. I cannot watch her matches, bc I get tired before the 1st set is over. But sure, complain about Iga's ball toss, something that happens to all tennis players, especially in windy conditions. Absolutely awful video. Such fake, hater channels should be banned by real tennis fans
