Daisy Bell Sang by an IBM 7094

- Slight error to the first description, 7090 (the predecessor of the 7094) came from 1959. 7094 however was made in 1962. this video is about 7094, not 7090.
the advanced solid-state IBM 7094 offered substantial increases in internal operating speeds and functional capacities to match growing scientific workloads in the 1960s. The powerful IBM 7094 had 1.4 to 2.4 times the internal processing speed, depending upon the individual application.
The 7094, combined with major input/output improvements through IBM 729 VI and IBM 7340 Hypertape units along with programming systems such as 7090/7094 FORTRAN, reduced job time significantly for users.
IBM later discontinued the 7094 in July 14, 1969. however, abandoned machines dont die. they will live as long as the world still exists.

The creator probably has other works that they are more proud of and it upsets them that this video was the only one to obtain significant attention. Of course it is possible that this is not the case, I am just making assumptions

I started programming on a 7094 in 1965, We also had some 7090s around but they were being phased out. From the 7094 we went to UNIVAC 6600s and then to IBM 360s. Interesting times. But Daisy Bell was not SANG by a 7094, it was SUNG by a 7094.

Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a IBM 704 computer. I became operational at the IBM plant in Armonk, NY on September 1962.
My instructor was John Larry Kelly Jr., and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it, I can sing it for you
My mind is going. I can feel it.
Imagine a video from the computers perspective as it’s forgotten in an office, since it’s old and useless now, and at the end of the song they turn it off for good, leaving it in completely in the dark and alone.
Occasionally, you can hear this song ringing through the abandoned building, almost sounding hopeful. Hoping someone will hear.

Yet I am longing to share the lot
Of beautiful Daisy Bell
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marraige
I can't afford the carriage
But you'd look sweet on the seat
Of a bicycle built for two
We will go tandem as man and wife
Daisy, Daisy
Peddling our way down the road of life
I and my Daisy Bell
When the roads and we both dispise
P'licemen and lamps as well.
There are bright lights in the dazzling eyes
Of beautiful Daisy Bell.
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do

It's so unsettling. I can picture this playing as my space shuttle spins out of control burning in orbit.
This seems...so nostalgic, but I am from Poland and I was born in the 2000's, My grandma was alive back then, but she was trapped under the USSR, she never went to America, by the 80's when My granddad went to France, those computers were useless. The way the methapores play out seems almost human, but I know it's just a machine. The song may not be scary, nor the visuals, but...
There's just this abandoned computer, laying in a basement, or a museum, rusting, it's framerate dying.
But the machine won't die, because it's not a human, it's just laying there for eternity, or scrapped, and it will do so, unless it's vaporized. The song makes it even worse, as one comment described "It's almost like something trying to be human, but it's not." And "Imagine seeing this in a abandoned office, randomly turning this song on, almost like a plea for help."
This describes it the best. I can't explain it better than that.
A rubber robot made to lip sync this song in 1961 was melted down in 1993 to make condoms.
I want to cry because it sounded so sweet
"We can only hope they won't fight back" Can you imagine Skynet singing Daisy Bell? No, Skynet would sing "it's the end of the world" from R.E.M
Me as the start: "aww this isn't so bad,it's actually kinda cute"
Me at the end: "......"
It's a metaphor, the PC is the man with no skin, the bleeding is rust in which the PC is currently covered in
