This was most helpful. I had the same problem after washing the car (it never goes out in the rain). I tried the hairdryer technique and it worked initially, only for the condensation to return as the temperature dropped. The secret is, as you say, is to remove the two covers from the wheel arch thus allowing the warm, moist air to escape. This did the trick. Thank you.

You can try some silica bags (silicat for example). I had a problem with one and I realized there were two huge cracks where water would go in easily and took the lamp off and sealed them with an abs bar then used some black plastic paint that sticks well on plastic. The previous time water got in the xenon controller and I had to replace it.

I took the back cover off and let it to dry in warm weather then I have put some silicone oil on the gasket so it can seal better then placed a small silica bag inside the headlamps. It’s been a year now and condensation never happened since.
The leak through the gasket made water get in and destroyed the xenon control unit because the unit has a sealed connector but it has pin hole so air can flow between unit and headlamp interior, I don’t see why. Normally water doesn’t get in but if it does it can destroy the unit. Well, I didn’t actually tested the unit after it dried, maybe it still works, now I have a cheap (5x cheaper) aftermarket one and it works well.

Mother's Aluminum and chrome polish works the best for quick cleaning. Nice but you didn't address the problem. Why and how is the condensation getting in the headlight. Eventually it will short out the module and cause a fault

@@andershansen8245 all be it a a while later. If your still having issues try flipping the rubber seal and using either Vaseline or silicone to provide a water tight seal. The now ageing seal in the older z4's tend to get pinched and not seal properly. Or simply buy a new seal from BMW they seam to be the most affective solutions

@@andershansen8245 not a problem, make sure to remove condensation completely before resealing. Easiest solution is a heat gun. Lots of really good advice on the Z4 forums online very common issue

la condensacion volvera a aparecer, la solucion es engordar la junta interna de la tapa trasera, esto lo hacemos metiendo silicona en la guia y luego metiendo la junta ,asi conseguimos una estanqueidad muy fuerte y no pasara el agua.

    1. open lid in wheel casing
    2. dry with hair dryer / heat gun from INSIDE through the open lid in the wheel casing
    3. VERY IMPORTANT: let acclimate again and let the headlight cool down again before closing the lid to prevent condensation again due to temperature difference
    4. put sealing fat / silicone gel on the rubber sealing inside the lid to prevent further condensation

Actually, that’s the wrong way to do that. Take a 1600 watt hair dryer, remove the “plate” inside the wheel well. Run the heated air
into the back of the light assembly until all the water evaporates. Replace the “plate” then layer Gorilla duct tape over the “plate” With about a 2” overlap so water cannot get into the light assembly. Once done like this you will never have condensation inside the headlight assembly again...never.

You may have a small crack somewhere in the seal around the back cover, or the Seal may be worn not making a full seal wen the back cover is locked into place. sorry for the late reply.
