Just found this channel, American here. It's nice to see someone enthralled by nature and living in it. No politics, no craziness... just a man living his best life the way we all started: in the wild.

Hello Will. It was myself made that coracle, you might remember me from a show in Norfolk where you made for me a flint hide scraper which is still in use,and by the way ,you use that coracle the wrong way round, the flat end is the front, try it and you will realise it’s designed like that for to paddle most easily and is very stable on the water. My first name begins with Q.

Outstanding work, having seen the damage up close you did an amazing job of fixing that so beautifully.

I have been fascinated with British coracles and Irish curraghs since I was a kid.
If I remember right, did not the Romans see coracles used in mainland Europe by the local tribes and adopt them to float a bridge over the Rhine or Seine river for their troops?
There are Irish heritage organizations here the U.S.A. that make seagoing curraghs to race on some of our rivers in the Northeast. I believe they sometimes travel to Ireland to race there as well on rivers and take to sea from estuaries.
They are amazing in how sea mammals interact with them due to their hide covered hulls fooling their natural sonar. They don't shy away from them like modern hulls. I guess they think they are meeting a new, fleshy friend! Lol

Will's subtle brag that he's mates with a Duke, hope your getting some handsome benefits of that friendship haha

It wasn’t a brag in any shape or form fella , it’s about trust respect and putting yourself in the right places. I’m not on the take I’m receiving permission to actually do what I do, hopefully that makes sense

I really enjoy your videos, I’d love to see more flintknapping. I have learned so much about it from you and it has helped me to improve my own arrowheads. Keep up the great work!

Next time I venture into town, I'll grab a photo of the Welsh coracles. They still run them down here for fishing.

The Coracle was built by Quentin Page and you are paddling it backwards... the pointed end is the back. I have also paddled on the Liftle Ouse.

I've always wanted to build a dugout. But haven't had the opportunity to fell a tree that big. I'm not going to try until I know full well I'm at that skill level to succeed.

Love it! I've been using the videos of yours to help me build one of my own. I got my hands on a camel skin for it.

Smeagol and Deagol, river folk, fished in a coracle (kahne in German) in Tolkein's Lord of the Rings, sadly leading Deagols' death and the origin of Gollum.

Think he's having trouble with the lavellier mic, very quiet, biased towards the right channel and some odd noises happening.

  • @thefeatheredfrontiersman8135

That's amazing will! I've never actually seen one on the water until now. One of my survival guides ( hew mcmanners, " wilderness survival guide") showed a photo and a very brief description of what the coracle is. It says that it requires a lifetime of skill to build a proper one.
I would have guessed that it was much lighter than that.
Ahhh the gift of a dead animal, right?

Are any of the flint knapping courses cancelled because of Covid-19? And are there any age restrictions?

Hi ... I really like your work with obsidian ... I'm very interested in the blade from obsidian and I would make the handle myself ... I'm from Central Europe and it's hard to buy something like that ... would you know send me some blades big 10-15 cm? I would like 2 pieces ... of course I will pay ... would we know the agreement?
