Cristiano Ronaldo has an incurable knee injury he's been suffering from since 2014, he changed his style of play ever since. He used to dribble more and rely on power shots but due to the injury he changed to rely on movement towards the box more and more. His injury wasn't incurable until he insisted on playing the 2014 World Cup and going against the doctors advice, after that he had to live with the pain for life and do extra rehabilitation work more than any athlete on the planet. Any other athlete would simply retire because the pain is unbearable but Cristiano never gives up and that's why he's the most influential human on social media aside from football. Another thing to mention, you cannot compare him to Messi because Argentina has a history of winning international trophies before Messi, has a super team to help him, without Di Maria then you wouldn't see him winning anything + the latest world cup is very questionable anyways 😅 for Cristiano, Portugal never won any major international trophy before him. Ever since he joined the national team, he put Portugal on the map. He's the ultimate definition of a leader and the whole country owes it to him even when it comes to tourism and investments.
