It's the 2020s. I'm listening to a recording made in the 2000s of a song from the 1990s made on 1980s equipment. The video for the song is of a TV show from the 1970s that was set in the 1950s. Also the lyrics to the song refer to a person from the 1960s and a person from the 1950s. This is nostalgia overload.
An 11 year old video of Weezer’s Buddy Holly decided to be recommended to me, this sounds great too! I heard many say this is Virgincore music, but I’ll figure it out later.
@VoltDenatsu i mean, that _is_ a thing people say about weezer, so i'm pretty sure he's talking about weezer but who knows edit: don't know why i wrote this, it was clearly a joke

@@joshuakorynta3385 oh 😳 always funny but a bit embarrassing when someone recognizes haha, nice taste. I need to catch up. If you don't already I pray you find your own soft elf
This cover is insane......this is the best sound I have ever heard the Commodore 64 produce, including the audio demo PRG on 5.25" floppy I have where you press spacebar and actually get a full line with the proper speech of the song 'kung fu fighting'. I have hundreds of Commodore 64 games and the old girl still works perfectly but I never heard any of the game soundtracks sound this good! It's so full and 'alive' - love it!!
For the uninitiated - the Commodore 64 had a 6581 audio chip which was a pretty decent 3-voice programable analogue synthesizer invented in the late 1970s. This song was arranged for 6 voices - a second 6581 being a common upgrade in the retro scene

Time traveller from 2040 posting from 2022... with my BRAIN....
I can’t believe the C64 had more than one sound channel, this sounds gorgeous. I’ll have to look more into it’s sound hardware
It had a sid card that could play three voices, and an expansion that added six.
The 6581 SID can even play 4-bit samples on a 4th channel if you use the volume register
the SID chip sure has a special sound to it
the C64's SID chip was insanely far ahead of anything of it's time in my opinion
I'd watch The 8-bit guy's video on old sound.
I see I'm currently 11 years late to the party, but damn this slaps!

@@skateruwu There was an official Weezer Fortnite Experience with music
True to the original, but takes it somewhere new. Still my favorite chip cover after years.
This sounds like the angry video game nerd playing a Weezer videogame

this should be the theme of a weezer boss fight

I thought this was just part of some meme because I keep seeing this song on CZcams in various forms but this video is eleven years old 😭
Weezer has been a meme since 2008
cant believe Weezer made a whole song based on this video
i love how someone with sponsorblock put the highlight as the riff

You did a really good job keeping the vocal melody accurate. I love the SID chip.

I wonder if I could make good version with just 3 channels(regular C64 SID)

Unironically one of the HARDEST covers of this song. I miss old tech like this man. The clunky yet deep noises.
Freakin' flawless.. my favourite little detail? Arps for the stripped 0:46 part
