If you're looking for a fat tire electric bike, Aventon's Aventure.2 is one of the best options you can get for under $2,000.
The company has made some significant changes from its predecessor, the Aventon Aventure, to make this ebike even better. They replaced the cadence sensor with a torque sensor for better control over the motor. They also added some extra lights and a rear rack to increase your riding comfort.
In this review, we will go through all of these changes in detail and our test ride experience as well as what we like/don't like about this new ebike.

The Adventon Adventure 2 has brake Regen and brake lights and it also has a walking mode that you can use by holding down the - button.
Thanks for your honest review. The torque sensor is a BIG deal and it seems like a real game changer. I didn’t catch your mention of the hydraulic brakes…another big improvement in this new Aventure eBike. I agree with you about the weight, but I guess it’s necessary for handling those big tires and all the other components. I’m awaiting delivery of my own Aventure2. Your review has got me revved up!!! Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! The old Aventure also has hydraulic brakes (the model we had came w zoom hydraulic brakes) and i didn't feel any difference in the stopping power (although it was a while since I rode the original aventure).

I bought an Aventon Aventure 2 a little more than a month ago. It performs well on flat land or in the foothills. I took my bike up to the 3,000 foot elevation level in the mountains and climbed a paved mountain road for 8 miles. I burned the motor up on Eco mode. I had to coast or peddle my bike non-assist 8 miles back to my car. This bike is not made for steep hill climbing. My friend’s $600.00 Walmart brand Hyper 250 watt mid-drive motor e-bike out performed mine on the hill climb. It was a pretty embarrassing moment as my bike cost a lot more. The Aventure 2 cannot perform the way it is being advertised. I only had 67 miles on my bike when I burned the motor up. I had to take it back to the bike store to get a new hub motor. Good thing it’s under warranty.

Thank you for the comment & feedback! We appreciate it very much...Our original idea with the channel was to do top 5 lists but we haven't done too many! haha. We're working on it! We're also trying to get access to fat tire ebikes like the Juiced Rip Current, Ariel Keplers and other ebikes in this category. We currently have a couple of full suspension ebikes we've been riding (Magicycle Deer and the Hoaqi Cheetah but IMO those are not in the same category.

Where is the torque sensor located on the Aventure 2?
Is the torque converter cool? Much better that the first gen? The first gen lags more but it’s still cool. The converter would be cool for harder hills.

Thank you! Large size for the frame based on your height. I personally love step thru's because they're easier to mount/dismount plus shorter people can always ride the bike so it provides me flexibility...If possible, I'd also recommend going to an ebike shop that is an Aventon dealer and test riding the different frames & sizes there. www.aventon.com/pages/electric-bike-shop-dealer-locator

Yes, you're correct! Top5ebikes is two of us and one is in Carpinteria and the other is in SB so we tend to film in both places. Such an amazing place with so many beautiful places to film!
I have been riding an Aventon Sinch for 5 months and now I am considering upgrading to the Sinch2. However, I have come across the Addmotor M160, which seems to have better batteries and motor.
The Addmotor foldable bike is a good option. Bigger motor & bigger battery like you're saying...also wondering if the battery is UL certified. I don't see it listed for the M160 but most of their models are UL certified...I had an Addmotor City E43 which IMO was a great offering bc of the 48v. 20ah battery...so I think Addmotor tends to enter the market with models that tend to offer bigger or more powerful components.
What bike would you suggest buying?
I want the battery to last longer.
Ariel Rider Kepler (Battery 52V20Ah/1800watt peak motor) $1899, Wicked Freedom (60V 20Ah battery and 2000w peak) $1899 and the Juiced Rip Current S (Battery 52V/19.2Ah/1300watt peak motor) $2099 are all good options w bigger batteries for around $2k.
Really want this blue Aventure 2.
However the Lectric XPremium seems like a good value as well at $1599 for a mid drive system with 100 mile range.
This bike looks more modern though. Which do you think is a better deal?
Hello and thank you for the comment & question. Head to head, Aventon's ebike are better put together and their components are higher quality so I'd take the Aventon BUT the XP Premium's mid drive and dual battery make it a hard decision..If you need dual battery or will be climbing steep hills, the Lectric is probab a better choice. If 30-40 mile range & you're not climbing giant hills, I'd recommend the Aventure.2. I hope this helps and let us know which ebike you end up buying. Either way, you're going to have a blast.

I heard good reviews about the torque sensor so the Aventon 1 is not good choice any more
Is the torque sensor worth 300-400 bucks? The first gen is on sale now.
I personally love the torque sensor bc If I have to work more than when i ride w a cadence sensor...but i do think the cadence sensor Aventure is a great value at $1399.
My Kepler does not jerk me taking off in PAS 1 of the 9 levels it can use...when the speed limit is set to 28 mph or less. 👍 Just saying.. Flicking through PAS levels is fast and easy to do for adjusting 1-2 mph in each level you move to. Also I use throttle more to start out and I can go as slow as 3mph with throttle .. I do agree you feel more natural starting to pedal or pedaling a torque sensor. But also work much more 👍

Just ordered a Adventure 2. Will be riding forest dirt roads and a few single track between road sections. 6,500 elevation and up with some steep grades. Probably, based on the past, only be riding 15 to 30 miles and around 10 to 20 mph. Already have a Giant full suspension E-bike with torque sensor and like it. Have sold my Yamaha XT-250 which was 300 pounds wet and now that I am 86 not as strong as I once was. So between the new Aventon with a throttle, dual sport substitute, and the Giant I am in good shape and can easily lift either. Once the snow is gone from the trails ready to hit the dirt. Very good review.
The pedals are really low to me too. Especially off road.
Agree! My pedals are pretty scrapped. It scared me the first time when riding the old Aventure. Pretty bummed they fix this w the Aventure.2

It's the Regular (5'3" - 5'10") so the smaller of the two frame options. Btw I'm 5-11 and it fits me perfectly

@@superduty2023 your height range is correct. I must have pulled it for another ebike, and yes for me it's the perfect size. I imagine the Large would also be fine for my height .
I'm not convinced a torque sensor bike will get any significant increase in mileage over a cadence sensor..48V 750 watt 15 ah battery will get you about the same distance on both bikes at a 20 mph average speed I would guess. Shifting gears constantly is not fun. I would rather keep it in 6th or 7th gear and just bump up through 9 assist levels when I want to go 2 mph faster.. Less worry about how hard or fast I pedal.
You probably will get better milage on a torque sensor as the motor power output is directly related to whatever power your legs put into it, unlike a cadence sensor that just throws out a specific amount of power/watts in each assist level whether you need it or not. So battery consumption should be more efficient with a torque sensor.
@@18andlikeit yep.. Not a huge wattage dip when I pedal my bike at 20mph as opposed to just throttle or host pedal.
15ah battery is a no go for me especially considering all the competition
If battery size/range if an important factor I agree bc other ebikes like Ariel Kepler blow the Aventure out of the water when it comes to battery size relative to price...but if this battery is sufficient and other factors are important, then the Aventure is a great option

@@bluespartan114 Mokwheel ebikes are solid. You should go check one out at a dealer. One of our local ebike shops (Ebikery in Santa Barbara,CA) has both Aventon & Mokwheel ebikes. If you can find a shop w both, you can compare them both & test ride them.
Yes a bigger battery would be better but since this model is torque sensor I'm thinking you won't use as much battery as the old cadence model would. With torque sensor the motor is only putting out whatever power your legs put into it. With cadence sensor you have no control over power output. Each pedal assist will dump it's pre-set power amount to the rear wheel whether you want it or not. If you don't need that power, it's basically being wasted with unnecessary battery consumption being used. I'm thinking a torque sensor is more efficient possibly making the battery last longer than the previous cadence sensor model.
Nothing like repeating yourself over and over between Torque sensor and Cadence sensor Once would have been enough maybe twice
*** WARNING !!! **** Bought this after seeing many good reviews. Be aware that their battery BMS is AWEFUL. In the instructions it says that you must disconnect the charging battery within 2 hours of fully charged and never more than 12 hours. In other words, plug it in and check every hour until done?!?!?! REALLY?!?!? If you ride and want to plug in and forget it until the next day, this is NOT THE BIKE FOR YOU. Everything I own...literally everything with a batter can be plugged in and forget it without a problem....except this very expensive bike.
Aventon can't even produce me a slate grey battery cover ....sad
So, a big negative for you was the battery wasn't upgraded. Two sentences later you say a bigger battery isn't needed for this type of bike.
With a new model, you'd expect more watt hrs especially given other comparable options (Ariel Kepler, Juiced RipCurrent) which have much bigger batteries. For me, this battery is big enough and with the torque sensor it helps with range but for some people it may not be big enough.
