  • Let’s learn some of the common traits and behaviors with quaker parrots.
    Noisy behavior
    Quaker parrots are very vocal and tend to express their emotions by voicing them out. While they can chatter endlessly the whole day, they might become noisy sometimes. To address this issue, you will be required to find the reason behind such bad behavior. The reasons range from lack of attention received from you, a pain experienced by them, hormonal changes in their bodies, a feeling of loneliness, or just a concern for your well-being. Never ignore your Quaker’s abnormal vocalizations as he might need your help.
    We'll Mention Biting behavior also. If you want to Find out more about Quaker Behaviour, check our article:

    Well this honestly explains a lot. From why mine seems to behave like a little rat from October to January to proving me and my father are correct in that he needs to come out of his cage more often.

    Being a adorable lovable little butthead is one of the characteristics that quakers have.

    Mine is very attached to me. Grooms me, let me access the cage even when she have eggs and go outside to free fly every day. If a stranger show up within 100 feet, she growl to warn me of the 'danger' , same if a hawk is flying nearby. On the other hands, she hates everyone else, learned to coexist with my wife a little but still wont let her touch her. My brother in law and my son, she just B-line for them fearlessly, latch on their back and keep biting. I have to be careful if they are in the same room.
    This was a good video to watch if you plan on getting a quaker parrot.

    I see these all the time here in Hollywood, Florida while buzzing around on my Vespa. Super wholesome sight; I think they come from the Caribbean. They’re quite noisy so you definitely hear them squabbling before you actually see them

      @rskye11 Před rokem +1

      We have them in New Orleans too. They are actually native to a small area in South America that encompasses parts of Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina.
      What we are seeing in New Orleans and Hollywood, Fl are feral birds, which means they are the progeny of people's pets who were released or escaped (possibly during a hurricane) and then survived and bred in an urban environment.
      They love the date palms here and also building huge nests in the transformers. You can actually feed them a high quality parrot mix in a bird feeder, if you're willing to put up with all the pigeons and rats that might also like a little snack.

    Excellent video! Some of the behaviors you discussed are very similar to those of my Green Cheek Conure. Do you think a GCC and Quaker would be compatible?

    • @quakerparrotandlovebirds1138
      @quakerparrotandlovebirds1138  Před 3 lety +1

      Actually i am not too familiar with Conures. Also it is lot dependent from bird to bird, and their previous experience. They tolerate Lovebirds. I think they would be fine with GCC. But still i would get 2 cages for them. Especially at beginning...

    Is there any real difference other than color in a blue and green Quaker? Is one better or is it just the color difference?

    • @quakerparrotandlovebirds1138
      @quakerparrotandlovebirds1138  Před 3 lety +3

      It is only color difference. There is no behavioural difference between Green and Blue Quaker Parrot. Breeders do selective breeding only to get certain color traits.

      I have a yellow Quaker.
      So from what I learned, green is a colour made from blue and yellow. Yellow and blue quakers often don't make it in the wild because they stand out, but they're no different in their personality, they just tend to survive better in captivity.

      @quakerparrotandlovebirds1138  Před 3 lety +1

      It is LOT harder to bond with them if you get 2. Second option sounds better. I would buy one. And spend as much time with him. After some time he will consider you like another bird 🙂
