- We visit a village that builds traditional sailing outrigger canoes, distribute reading glasses, go to the soccer and netball and generally hang out in the villages.
The kids are wonderful - Lisa is like the Pied Piper. They obviously adore her soft nature.
Yeah they do love Lisa and the kids just love life.
What an interesting village...they always say it takes a village to raise a Child...and what an example of resourcefulness...well done🤓
You are absolutely right Robyn and that’s what we observed throughout the whole region, the entire village working together. It’s very inspirational. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video.
Wonderful, brings back some great memories. Love yr vids .
Thanks Robin, phenomenal people and amazing area.
They can sail so fast in all directions! Amazing
Yeah we loved seeing them sailing around.
Great job guys. We should send some of our kids over to see how others live, maybe they wouldn't complain about no reception on their phones😢
Keep up the great work.
Thanks Peter, phenomenal people and yes our experiences there has made us have a good look at ourselves.
Absolutely amazing!
Thanks, incredible people in the Louisiades.
Hi friends
The canoes you saw being built were once used to trade goods & food including transportation from Islands.
In some parts of Milne Bay, the canoes were used for fighting.
In Milne Bay, my traditional ancestors or my great grand parents were canoe builders.
So with that natural raw talent majority of the Island people from Milne Bay used that skill to build the modern version of the boats we know today.
Which is why, Milne is known as a maritime Province.
So the carvings you saw on the canoe represent a meaning. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know but if you asked the canoe builder he would've told you.
Thanks for bringing smiles to Milne Bay.
Please come again.
Im also a local here in Alotau town, the capital of Milne Bay.
Commenting from Alotau town, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬
Thanks Kevin, we did spend quite a bit of time talking with the canoe builders about there trade which for us was an incredible experience, absolutely loved our time in this area with these amazing people.
Interesting to see a kayak-style paddle in use on one of the children's outriggers.
I agree Wade, we didn’t see many of these paddles in PNG but we did see quite a few in the Solomons.
amazing video
