@skaybaltimore I am lucky, I can live with both Patty and Antje fondly in my heart....(and Meg Hutchinson, and Shawn Colvin, and Nancy Griffith and Janis Ian and Vienna Teng and Kris Delmhorst and Cheryl Wheeler and Mindy Smith and Catie Curtis and Brandi Carlile....you get the idea....I think we live in the golden age of female singer songwriters and I am soaking up every word, every sound of it. These women will go into history as the poets of our age.
@skaybaltimore We who know of these women makes us a small but discerning group (that you would reference Mary Gauthier , you are a connoisseur indeed :-). I keep asking myself, is some way to promote these wonderful artists and poets so that more people will be exposed to them?. Media outlets have no interest in them. These women are closest to the heart of poetry, the voice accompanied by lyre or stringed instrument, the birth of the word "lyric" and lyric poetry. They deserve to be heard.
