She is a popular singer, he is an operatic singer. Just because they are great friends, that doesn't mean their careers must mesh. Jonathan's career must be of great importance to him, just as hers is to her. It is no one else's concern or business. He was not mean or selfish to pursue the career he has trained for since childhood.

It was clear from the start that Jonathan was meant for Superstardom, possibly on a par with Pavarotti (eventually). Whereas, it was also clear he needed the confidence being beside Charlotte initially gave him. Once their time together had run it's course, it was obvious they'd go their separate ways. It was inevitable. And now they both have all those treasured memories, huge success together, and wonderful musical careers ahead of them, only on different paths, and on different levels.
I saw their first audition of BGT and he's soared in stature since then. And I love his new hair treatment!

Imo, it's the *only* one that comes near the original (Righteous Brothers). Jonathan *NAILED*it. For many singers, it's their "swan song." They attempt Unchained Melody, then fade off into obscurity.
there was a very little worthwhile music written for duets that complimented their performance style, although sad it was inevitable they go solo, they benefited greatly by going their separate ways musically

This man was somthing that no one could see coming :: when I first seen hem I like his shirt Jimi Hendrix: but when I heard his voices so so much vibrato … not only does he sing the words but he truly understands the meaning : as he sings opera … the pain in his voice. is like gems 💎 from the Royal .. as he sings sweet endeavor gently weeping warmth

They were headed in different directions. She was leaning towards another flavour of music, he was going into opera performance pieces. Their styles just wouldn't fit together any more. No big fight or drama.
Charlotte wanted to do Musical Theatre and went back to school,and Jonathan,being an Amazing young Tenor,Just soared,and is doing amazingly well.x

I have NO CULTURE! I particularly DISLIKE OPERA. That said, Jonathan's voice is so EXCEPTIONAL, that I've actually played and replayed his performances! It seems I'm attracted to genius, despite the category. Same thing happened with Simone Biles. No fan of gymnastics here, but I can watch Simone Biles ALL DAY EVERY DAY! There is something intangible among genius performers that I find incredibly fascinating, and overcomes my apathy towards performances of genres I find unbearably boring. THANK GOODNESS FOR THESE GENIUSES! So much for my being closed-minded!
PS - the combination of Charlotte & Jonathan was a brilliant move by their voice teacher. He or she must be super-proud of the match-up that brought out the best from both of them. Teachers are seldom the best in their field, but the voice teacher that paired these two together had a good ear as well as ability to recognize greatness.

I filled in as temporary choir director in several small churches here in north san diego county. Sang tenor in San Diego Master Chorale a couple of years. A mixed quartet was asked to record a short piece to be used in a commerc
ial....ha, we didnt see one penny of 'pay'.
I continue to sing tenor in our little church choir. Love participating; see no reason to stop at age 75.

Better he live life happy on his terms. My mother ate terrible foods and passed at 91. My father ate all the right foods with doctors saying his arteries looked like an 18 year olds, died at 67. Life happens, be happy, and enjoy the life you have or made for yourself and always be kind to others.
I hope he lost some weight. His health is in danger.
He has a thyroid condition that affects his weight. He has said in interviews that he drinks only water, is careful with what he eats, he walks 10K steps a day and lifts weights. He is a very active guy.
I can't get over how unhealthy Jonathan looks. Never mind gorgeous voice (or so called
by some people) but creepy how he and his family could overlook that.
Jonathan has a thyroid issue that he is under a Dr's care for. He has said in interviews that he drinks only water, is careful with what he eats, he walks 10K steps a day and lifts weights. He just had a small gym built on his property that he and his sister use. He has been losing weight, not because of society's expectations, but for his own health and future. He's doing awesome and is probably healthier than most of us.
