Interesting looking back how he acted like he wanted nothing to do with her, putting the twelve-year age gap on Demi and not him. He also mentions that he fell in love with her at her most vulnerable time, which doesn't sit right knowing she was 17 and he was taking advantage of that.
I never got the impression he wanted to date her, she did the pursuing. And I felt like he always had one foot out, like with Lindsay. And it was kinda confirmed when he got married pretty quickly after he and Demi broke up. I also don’t think Demi was ever really physically his type

2022: Looking back on this video while Demi is about to release the song ‘29’ this makes me sick. The song explained how she was groomed while only being 17 and he was 29. Honestly I could never say if he truly loved her but either way what he did was wrong and I hope she and anyone that can relate finds closure.
How do you groom an almost adult? Grooming is a term for very young minors. Not almost legal adults.

I mean Demi said this too. She said in multiple interviews that she would chase him and he would keep turning her down. Even became an ambassador for something she didn’t care about because they were shooting the promo for it at his house.
The fact that they were friends for 5 years (as he describes it, which makes her 12 years old, and him 24) is actually really disgusting. And then having him date her 5 years later… (when she was still a child) and acting as if he didn’t want anything to do with her and that she kept chasing him. Playing as if he “gave in” to her… Dude. That makes me actually so mad

But of course he would say he did not want anything to her; when they met she was underage (she would turn 18 in the year they met, but it was still a minor) and he was much older than she (13 years older). Fact is that he was one of the people who made demi overcome all of her problems and their relationship is SO beautiful. They're so cute together. I wish them all the happiness in the world!!!

I think when I was a kid I didn’t realize how problematic he was. He always was really supportive of her and fought with her for her recovery, but the dynamic of their relationship wasn’t exactly healthy. I’m glad he’s dating someone in his own age group for once. I think he’s married to her, actually.
