    The LFO is amazing.
On the Samples I had a little Techno/Trance thing going on, and the lead bass I had very slowly panning from left to right, it gave the overall sound so much more body. Panning two parts of the percussion in different directions away from the centre also helps to make it sound interesting. The Delay and Reverb are very good on these devices as well, you really do get a lot for your money, a very powerful and compact device with relatively low menu diving.
    Nice vid, FB.

Yeah, automating pan can be a very powerful effect! Thanks so much for watching :)

I can't believe this is free! You can also hold down the lfo button and turn the parameter knob to change its depth as a shortcut. You are a musician more than a programmer and that's great. You have a positive approach and you really are a musician. Nice job

I totally forgot to mention that little shortcut haha whoops. Thanks so much for watching!!

I don’t have the model:cycles, but I like using lfo with FM synthesis in different ways. It can add an extra touch of life to the sound.

Yeah it really can! It's one of the main reasons I want to get my hands on a digitone haha. Thanks for watching :)

I’ve completely ignored that second LFO page. Wow haha. Definitely gonna be using that now!

Great vid! FM synthesis a complex beast, and the Model:Cycles is great for giving you FM style sounds without having to get into the weeds of operators and how they interact. By the way, since this channel (mostly) showcases a lot of budget gear like volcas, the models, and PO's, and I know you like a DAWless setup, you should give the Sonicware Liven XFM a look if you haven't. It's a full FM synth groovebox in the same price range as the Cycles, but it does give you full access to its 4 operator engine for sound design. It's basically a Volca FM on steroids, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

I've been drooling for the XFM for a while now actually haha. I keep waiting for availability in the US, but I'm not sure if that's a priority for them. Hoping to get my hands on one either way!

@@FreeBeat Yeah, due to the nature of things at the moment, the rollout of preorders has been pretty slow. I ended up just buying one on Reverb. I ended up getting mine for MSRP, so if you keep an eye on it you can probably snag one for that price as well

      @@FreeBeat I found a used XFM near me for $100. I didn’t like it, but I can check if it’s still available…

Was searching for that all over the net for. How to sound design etc
Thnks for being the only One on the net who explaind it
Most clips on CZcams are full of shit 💩 tutorials they always show Some tracks they Made
If I hear that longer than a minute I wil throw my Mac out the window of misery
    I am grateful

I just copped one bc i bought the minilogue module for the sequencer thinking it would go well with model samples...however the i hate the minilogue module sequencer...with a passion...so i finally bought model: cycles after much procrastinating to go with my model: samples

Great Video - I wondering are you able to work out how to use the 1 to 16 with playing the piano Preset - Like how or where are the black key and middle C?

You can change it around, either in the options menu or by just changing the tuning of the machine itself :)

Still trying to program mines the menu diving and it’s hard to do patterns on the sequencer I’m still learning tho I want a digitone so bad but I heard it has the same synths and this is better smh 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  Před 2 lety +1

Luckily there isn't too much menu diving in the cycles haha. I think the digitone has a lot more, but the sound design options are almost endless!

When I play my sequence the lfo does not start with the first beat, it is self oscillating even when the sequence doesn't play. It's very annoying because I like to use the lfo as a sequencing tool but it's hard in this case.
Does someone know how to make the lfo start with the first beat ?
